Vorobyovy Gory observation deck. Prague observation decks Federation Tower 89th floor excursion

What could be more beautiful than the view of a modern city with its towers, skyscrapers, night lights and neon signs? Only the view from these very towers and skyscrapers, the view from which is breathtaking. It is thanks to the opening view that the famous Sparrow Hills in Moscow have become so popular that in the evening the parapet simply cannot be crowded.

But there are places in Moscow from which an even more breathtaking panorama opens than from the most popular observation deck in the capital. In many of these places, by the way, you can not only enjoy the stunning scenery, but also sip on some refreshing cocktail or savor a medium-rare steak. Restaurants with a view are becoming more and more popular in our country.

So that our readers can also enjoy the best views of the "best city on Earth", we have collected 11 places that will simply take your breath away.

1. Museum of Geosciences of Moscow State University

The main building of Moscow State University on Sparrow Hills. Photo: www.russianlook.com

We mentioned the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory at the beginning of the article for a reason. Hundreds and even thousands of people gather on it, who do not suspect that literally a couple of hundred meters from them there is a place with an even more impressive view - the Museum of Geosciences of Moscow State University. This museum is located in one of the seven Stalinist skyscrapers, in the main building of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Not only is the museum, which occupies the seven upper floors of the monumental building, worthy of attention in itself, but from its windows, according to the ministers, “the best view of the capital” opens. By the way, do not rush to the highest available floor (31). It is better to enjoy the view from the windows of the 28th floor - nothing will interfere with the view, and people enjoying the panorama of the Sparrow Hills will seem like tiny insects to you.

2. Russian Academy of Sciences

RAS building. Photo: www.russianlook.com

Not so far from the Sparrow Hills is one of the most unusual buildings in the capital - the Russian Academy of Sciences, topped with a futuristic gold-colored metal crown. The Sky Lounge restaurant is located on the top floor of this building, which offers one of the most stunning views of the night capital. And during the day, there is also something to see from here. The main thing is to book a table next to the window, otherwise the pleasure will be slightly spoiled. The main restaurant is located on the 22nd floor of the building. But there is an opportunity to rise even higher - for a fee, we are ready to provide you with a whole penthouse, which is located on the 23rd floor. Only you and your company will be in a room with an ideal panoramic view - no one will stop you from enjoying the view of Moscow.

3. Ostankino TV tower

Ostankino tower. Photo: www.globallookpress.com

Continuing the excursions to the observation platforms located in the buildings of the Soviet era, it is impossible to bypass the Ostankino TV tower, which can be seen from almost anywhere in Moscow. Consequently, every corner of the capital can be seen from this tower, 540 meters high. The tower is the eighth tallest structure on the planet. For a long time after the fire, the entrance was closed. And the continuation of the work of the famous restaurant "Seventh Heaven", which was previously located inside, was out of the question. But not so long ago, excursions to the Ostankino tower were resumed. And now every Muscovite and guest of the capital can enjoy the view of the city from its highest point.

4. Hotel "Ukraine"

Hotel "Ukraine". Photo: www.russianlook.com

In total, seven Stalinist skyscrapers were built in Moscow in Soviet times. And the main building of Moscow State University is not the only one, from the upper floors of which anyone can admire the stunning views of the city. The second is the building of the hotel "Ukraine". The hotel still functions in the main building, and one of the wings of the building is reserved for apartments. But you don't have to rent a hotel room to enjoy the view. All you have to do is visit one of the restaurants located on the upper floors of the hotel. The "tallest" of them is the Italian restaurant Buono. The scheme of actions is standard: we book a table next to the window, arrive, order food and drinks to taste and enjoy the view. The price tag on the menu, of course, is not the most modest, but the view from the restaurant is worth it.

5. Ferris wheel

In total, there are 7 such popular attractions in our country as the Ferris wheel in Moscow. But the most famous, of course, is the 73-meter giant located on the territory of VDNKh. It still remains the tallest attraction of its kind in the former Soviet Union and throughout Eastern Europe. An excellent view of all the surroundings opens up from its height. In recent years, it has become possible to use closed booths that are not blown by the wind. There will be more comfort, of course, with this choice, but the real acuity of sensations can be obtained only on open chairs. And the quality of the view will be much better in this case - neither glare nor scratches on the glass will interfere.

6. Hotel "Beijing"

Beijing Hotel (right). Photo: AiF / Edward Kudryavitsky

The famous hotel, which immediately catches the eye when leaving the Mayakovskaya metro station, is made in almost the same style as the Stalinist skyscrapers. It is an architectural monument and is protected by the state. However, unlike the famous skyscrapers, this hotel cannot boast of its size - only 15 floors. But from this hotel, thanks to the wide Garden Ring, which overlooks the horizon, you can watch simply stunning scenes of Moscow sunsets. The main thing is to have time to take a seat at the table near the parapet and order a tonic drink in the Time Out bar located on the 12th and 13th floors of the hotel.

"Child's world". Photo: AiF / Edward Kudryavitsky

Everyone knows this powerful corner building on Lubyanka, Detsky Mir. However, nowadays, having opened after a long reconstruction, the shopping center has changed its name. Despite this, the building continues to attract thousands of Muscovites and guests of the capital, and not only with its shops. Many people come to the renewed Children's World not for shopping. The observation deck, which appeared after the reconstruction, from which an impressive view of the heart of the Russian capital opens up, gained immense popularity at once.

8. The Ritz-Carlton

The Ritz-Carlton Moscow Hotel. Photo: www.russianlook.com

Another Moscow building that recalls not even Soviet, but pre-revolutionary times is the 11-storey Ritz-Carlton Hotel, located at the very beginning of Tverskaya Street. However, do not be fooled by the design of the building, because the construction of the hotel was completed only in 2007. Before that, a glass box of the Intourist hotel stood in its place. Now, from the open veranda of the O2 Lounge restaurant, located almost on the roof of the hotel, the best view of the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square opens up. You can spend money on not the cheapest lunch in a restaurant just for the sake of this kind. You have never seen the heart of Moscow like this.

Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Photo: AiF / Edward Kudryavitsky

Few people know, but in the main temple of Russia, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, rebuilt in its historical place, there is also an observation deck from which you can admire Moscow from a height of 40 meters. The entrance to the temple is, of course, free. But it's impossible to get to the observation deck just like that. Her visit is included in the tour price. For Russian citizens, the price of one ticket with the right to enter the site is 200 rubles.

10. Hotel "Krasnye Holmy"

Hotel "Krasnye Holmy". Photo: www.russianlook.com

The Krasnye Holmy Hotel, located on an island between the Moskva River and the Vodootvodny Canal, was opened in 2005. The 34th floor of this hotel offers a gorgeous view of the capital. But you won't be able to enjoy it just like that. To do this, you must book a table in advance at the City Space Bar. We advise you to choose a seat near the window - unforgettable emotions are guaranteed. By the way, in this bar you can enjoy not only the view, but also the cuisine, it is not for nothing that it was recognized as one of the ten best bars in the world in 2008.

11. "Moscow City"

"Moscow City". Photo: Commons.wikimedia.org

Finally, we got to one of the main attractions of the modern Russian capital - the Moscow City skyscraper complex. In 2014, an observation deck was opened in the Empire Tower on the 58th floor, which anyone can visit. It offers an unforgettable panorama of the capital, Moscow State University, the Academy of Sciences, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Ostankino TV tower and other districts of Moscow. True, this pleasure is not free - you cannot get to the site without a guide. The entrance ticket can be bought on the spot. It costs 600 rubles. But we advise you to sign up for an excursion in advance, as there are many people who want to look down on Moscow from above, and you risk standing in line for a significant amount of time.

Park, Landmark, Panoramic View

The main Moscow panorama - the observation deck on the Sparrow Hills - was opened in 1953, simultaneously with the new building of the Moscow State University. This place is definitely worth visiting if you are visiting the "gold-domed" for the first time and want to see almost all the main symbols of the capital: Stalinist skyscrapers and "book" houses on Novy Arbat, the Foreign Ministry building and the White House, the Ostankino TV tower and the monument to Peter the Great ... The list goes on and on.

Not so long ago, free binoculars with a tenfold magnification were installed on the observation deck, and now the sights can be viewed in detail. A breathtaking view opens from the upper floors of the main building of Moscow State University, which can be accessed by pre-ordering a ticket to the Museum of Land Tenure. The platform on Vorobyovy Gory is one of the most popular places in the city: there are always a lot of tourist groups, a visit to the observation deck is also a traditional stopping point for wedding corteges. In spring and summer, Moscow bikers and street racing fans gather at the Vorobyovs. Due to the large number of visitors, this panorama is hardly suitable for a secluded romantic date, but everyone should see the "best city on Earth" practically from a bird's eye view at least once in their life.

Today Ostankino is ranked eighth in the world in terms of this indicator: its height is 540 meters. Here tourists are waiting for two observation points: the open one is located at an altitude of 340 meters and operates from May to October, and the glazed one, at an altitude of 337 meters, receives tourists at any time of the year. The excursion, in addition to panoramas, includes a visit to the Museum of TV and Radio Broadcasting and a detailed story of the guide about the history of the TV tower. Park, Sightseeing, Lake / pond, Cultural center, Architectural monument

The high-rise rides also provide an excellent opportunity to admire the golden-domed panoramas. The most impressive of them is the Ferris wheel at VDNKh, 70 meters in diameter. A full turn of the wheel takes 7 minutes, during this time you can enjoy the view of the renovated All-Russian Exhibition Center, the Cosmos Hotel, the Worker and Collective Farm Woman sculpture, and the Ostankino TV Tower. The attraction is open all year round, so you can ride it even in cool weather - however, in this case, it is better to prefer a closed booth. The cost of tickets is quite affordable: 300-350 rubles, depending on the configuration of the cabin. Before visiting the attraction, you can take binoculars, the rental of which will cost 100 rubles. Another Ferris wheel, operating all year round, is located in Sokolniki Park - it offers a picturesque view of the park itself and the adjacent territories. Sixty

A restaurant

A visit to the Sixty restaurant, the highest in Europe, will allow you to get several impressions at once: here you can see an unforgettable panorama of the metropolis, taste interesting dishes and plunge into a pleasant festive atmosphere around. The institution is located on the 62nd floor of the Federation Tower on the territory of Moscow City. The best tables with stunning views of the city are located near the glass walls of the establishment, but the restaurant is very popular, so sometimes there are not enough seats at the window for everyone. However, Sixty is worth visiting not only because of the city's panoramas.

The chef of the restaurant, Carlo Grecu, is known to many as a true master of his craft and a specialist in true Italian cuisine. The interior of the institution organically combines irony, simplicity and brightness of the 60s era and modern style: it is both chic and cozy here. The average check in the establishment is quite high, but dinner in the clouds against the backdrop of sunset is worth it.

Tourist attraction, Panoramic view, Museum, Architectural monument, Historic landmark

The Ivan the Great Bell Tower can be considered the first "skyscraper" of the capital: after the superstructure in 1600, its height was 81 meters, and until the beginning of the 17th century the bell tower was the tallest building in the country. The observation deck was opened here in 2009, this event was preceded by a long period of restoration. From here, from a height of 25 meters, a breathtaking view of the Kremlin and the ancient streets of Zamoskvorechye opens up. 137 steps lead upstairs - there is no lift in the ancient bell tower, so you need to calculate your strength. The observation deck is open only during the warm season - from April to October - and is open daily. The cost of a guided tour of the exposition, which includes a visit to the observation point, is 500 rubles. Unfortunately, children under 12 years old will not be able to access the panorama even if accompanied by adults.

Free observation decks in Moscow

1. Observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory

Probably the most famous and traditional observation deck of the capital, and therefore the most beloved. It is enough to take the metro to the Vorobyovy Gory station, climb the paths towards Moscow State University, and you can already admire the opening views of the city: the Moscow River, the Luzhniki sports complex, the Moscow City skyscrapers, the Ostankino TV tower, etc. In the distance you can see the Temple Christ the Savior, some of and many modern multi-storey business centers.

2. Observation deck next to the RAS

Not far from the observation deck, literally 20-30 minutes walk from it, there is a lesser-known observation deck - near the building of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Here we can see the same thing as from the site on Vorobyovy Gory, only from a different angle. A beautiful view of the Moscow State University opens from here. The historic center of the city is clearly visible, as well as the Vorobyovy Gory station itself. The only drawback is the rather dense building, due to which the view is a little limited.
