Thermal Spa Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary is the largest Czech spa town, which was founded by King Charles IV near springs, the healing properties of which are known throughout the world. The resort is located 120 km from Prague, in the western part of the Czech Republic, in the Teplá river valley. Karlovy Vary is famous for its rich history, charming architecture, beautiful nature and, of course, for its healing springs.

Mineral springs are the basis of spa treatment in Karlovy Vary. The total number of registered sources in the city and the surrounding area is 132, only 13 of them are used for medicinal purposes. According to its chemical composition, Karlovy Vary water is sodium-bicarbonate-sulphate acidic water with a pH of 6.9, the mineralization of which is approximately 6450 mg / l, and the content of CO2 is 560-580 mg / l.

The Karlovy Vary spa treatment dates back to the 14th century. The first "patient" noted in historical papers was Emperor Charles IV, who healed his wounds with hot spring water. The Karlovy Vary spa treatment has developed continuously since then. The doctors who had a great influence on the development and optimization of spa treatment were Jan Becher and Jean de Caro.

Sanatoriums and spa hotels offer both traditional spa treatments and a variety of wellness and beauty treatments. You can choose one of the procedures or a whole "package". Everything depends on you. Women often prefer cosmetic compresses and wraps and cellulite treatment, men prefer massages and mineral baths.
