Goa resort in india. Where is the best place to relax in Goa. What to bring as a keepsake

The beaches of South Goa are considered to be the best beaches in the state. In comparison with, on the southern beaches of the South, there are much fewer people, they are mainly chosen for families with children and people of age.

There are practically no parties like on Arambol on the southern beaches of the South: after 11 o'clock in the evening, everything here closes.

Lifeguards are on duty at all the beaches of South Goa. During strong waves, they drive along the beaches in jeeps and make sure that vacationers do not go further than waist-high. In addition to waves, there is another danger in the sea - reverse currents, so it is not worth not listening to the rescuers and swimming far into the sea.

Almost all the beaches of South Goa are white and very fine, like flour, sand, crunching underfoot like snow. Due to such fine sand, the beach strip is very dense and it is easy to ride a bike on it (you can rent it at the beach entrance) and even a car (but this is only allowed for lifeguards).

The beaches of Velsao, Kansaulim, Arossim, Utorda, Majorda, Betalbatim, Colva, Sernabatim, Benaulim, Varka, Cavelossim, Mobor, Betul are one continuous 27-kilometer stretch of sand, the beaches merge one into the other, between the beaches there are desert areas without sun beds and shekov: here you can sunbathe on your own towels if you want peace and quiet.

According to our observations, in the first half of the day the sea in South Goa is calmer, there is practically no wind. After lunch, waves appear and the wind begins so strong that it blows off the umbrellas.

What are the best beaches in South Goa? In our article, we will tell you in detail about each of them and mark all the beaches on the map.

Arossim

Arossim Beach is a smooth continuation of Kansaulim. Why the beaches of Kansaulim and Arossim are called differently is not clear: there is only one village near these beaches. There are no differences between the beaches: the same lack of people, fishing boats, there are several sheks on the beach.

Utorda

Compared to previous beaches, Utorda Beach is quite lively. There are many hotels here, including several hotels where package tourists are brought. However, the beach is not very crowded and calm. There are many cafes and beach chairs on the beach. The beach strip is wide, the sand is light and fine.

Majorda

Continuation of Utorda beach, there is no difference between the beaches. Geographically, the area of the Majorda settlement includes the beaches of Utorda, Majorda, Betalbatim and Colva. But the last Colva has become many times more popular with tourists than Majorda itself, so Majorba Beach is not crowded today. Nevertheless, there are quite a lot of sheks on the beach, and in the village there are hotels (including 5-star ones). The sand, as in this entire 30-kilometer zone, is light, fine and creaky, like snow.

Betalbatim

Betalbatim is a very tiny village. There is no such developed infrastructure as in Colva or Majorda, but these neighboring villages in Betalbatim can be reached in just 20 minutes along the beach. Instead of palm trees, the coast of Betalbatim is decorated with pine trees.

They write that it is from this beach that you can sometimes observe dolphins swimming quite close to the shore, but we have never seen them. Local fishermen can offer boat trips along the coast to dolphin habitats.

There are several beach shacks on Betalbatim Beach, but otherwise it is pretty deserted. Suitable for a calm, measured rest. The northern part of Betalbatim has its own name - Sunset beach.

Colva

Only we

In the morning, there are no people at all on Varka, but by sunset people appear here (mostly Indians) and one beach attraction was even seen - a parachute.

Cavelossim

Cavelossim Beach is the most prestigious beach in South Goa. In terms of its liveliness and infrastructure, it resembles Kolva, but in comparison with it, it is more and more fashionable here. There is even a shopping center on Cavelossim.

The beach has a large hotel area, hotels are mostly expensive.

Many famous five-star hotels are located here. For example, Leela Goa Beach Resort, where Putin lived during the BRICS convention in South Goa. The BRICS itself was held in another 5-star hotel in Benaulim - Taj Exotica. In addition to these, in Benaulim there are hotels of the world chains Radisson Blue and Holiday Inn.

The village also has its own Catholic Church, Holy Cross Church.

The central part of the Cavelossim beach is very crowded, of the vacationers most of all are Russian-speaking tourists who come on package tours. Unlike Colva, there are no Indians vacationing in Cavelossim.

The territory of the Cavelossim beach is quite long - about 10 km. Conifers grow on the beach instead of palm trees.

There are many beach cafes in the central part, mostly with Russian signs and menus. Each cafe has a beach shower and toilet.

There is a very wide list of beach activities, prices for them:

If you move away from the central part to the left or to the right, you can get to deserted areas of the beach, without sun loungers and shacks.

Other photos of Cavelossim beach:

Mobor

Mobor Beach is a continuation of Cavelossim Beach, in fact, it is just the southernmost part of it. If in the village of Cavelossim those who want a quiet measured rest without parties rest, then those who want a fun and party nightlife stay in the village of Mobor.

In Mobor, there is the Party Zone club at the Holiday Inn Resort: it is believed that the best discos of South Goa are held here.

The beach itself is the same as in Caveossima: white fine sand, palm trees. On this beach is the mouth of the Sol River: the river goes around the entire Mobor beach and flows into the sea. The beach is also distinguished by picturesque lakes with lotuses.

Here, as in Cavelossim, there are many entertainment options for those who are sick: boat trips, rabalka, parasailing, cycling, etc.

Betul

Natural continuation of the Mobor beach. The last beach is a 27-kilometer stretch of beach that starts just behind the airport. It is famous for its fishing port, where boats and trawlers bring their catch. Fishing village, which consists mainly of small huts of fishermen and their families.

There are few hotels in Betula, the most famous of which is Bamboo House Goa: the hotel restaurant Blue Whale offers the widest selection of dishes from the seafood caught here.

The beach is very uncrowded and picturesque.

View point and Holy Cross Chapel-Baradi

On the way from Cavelossim to the next Colu beach, we highly recommend stopping by the Baradi church, which is located near the village of Betul. The cross at the chapel is considered miraculous and healing from diseases.

From here, a very beautiful view opens up of the palm plantations and the Sal river flowing into the sea.

Other photos from the observation deck near the Baradi Church:

Chapel of Baradi on the map:

Canaguinim

The wild Canaguinim Beach is 12 km from the crowded Cavelossim. Little. an incredibly picturesque beach hidden from prying eyes by rocks overgrown with greenery. Swimming on the beach is difficult due to the large number of rocks protruding from the sea.

There is no tourist infrastructure on this beach: there are no sheks, merchants, beach shops. Accommodation can only be found in the village of Canaguinim, located 1 km from the beach: but it will only be a room in a private house, since there are no hotels here either.

Most often, those who want to be on a wild deserted beach without people and civilization come here just for 1 day.

Cola

Definitely the most heavenly beach in all of Goa. It is located between Cavelossim and Agonda, but is surrounded on all sides by rocks, which is why it can only be reached by a single road of terrible quality. The beach is only available at, 6 months of the year. During the rainy seasons, this broken road is washed out and it is simply impossible to drive to the beach.

Kolya has no infrastructure, except for the only cafe at the entrance to the beach.

Of the hotels, only bungalow huts are presented here, there are quite a few of them. Room prices start at Rs 3,000 per night. We especially liked these houses on the mountain:

Cola Beach consists of three parts: the first is the most "crowded" (although it is, of course, wrong to call a beach crowded with a couple of dozen people), it is limited on both sides by boulders that can be easily overcome. The sand on the first part of the Cola is of an unusual black color, and the grains of sand themselves are large.

On the second part of the beach there are fewer houses, and there are only a couple of people on the beach. The sand here is coarse, predominantly dark yellow in color with small black-sand areas. The second piece of Cola beach is also limited by huge boulders.

The third part of the beach is the most empty. There are two hotels here, which offer an unusual type of accommodation - tents.

  • Cola Beach Sunset Bay Hotel. Cost of 1 night in a tent 6,500 rupees for double occupancy.
  • Cola Beach Exclusive Tented Resort. Cost of 1 night in a tent 5700 rupees for double occupancy.

There are sun loungers in front of the tents, but we did not see people.

There is already completely yellow coarse sand, there is no black sand.

this piece of the beach is so deserted that you can try the famous Goan beach yoga (if you are embarrassed to do it in the crowded Colva, for example):

The Cola beach ends with a beautiful green mountain with palm trees, when looking at which one immediately remembers Andrei Mironov's song "All covered with greenery, absolutely all, there is an island of bad luck in the ocean ..."

We loved Cola Beach. Although, swimming in the waves is unsafe here because of the boulders that stick out of the water along the entire beach. And yet, if you make a rating of the best beaches in South Goa, then Cola will definitely top this list.

Other photos of Cola Beach:

Agonda

The village of Agona is very lively, along the coast there is a long beach street with many shops and cafes, from which you can go to the beach anywhere.

The entire Agonda beach is a wide strip of sand and a wide variety of beach houses-hotels. The beach is about 2.5 km long.

Of the vacationers there are more Indians and Europeans, there are very few Russians, unlike Colva, Benaulim, Cavelossim and Palolem. Quiet and calm beach, but it cannot be called uncrowded.

In addition to many cozy hotels, there are also a large number of restaurants on the beach.

The sand on Agonda is rather fine, dark yellow in color, with an admixture of black sand.

In the southern part of the beach there are huge picturesque boulders protruding from the sea.

The beach ends with a mountain jutting into the sea.

Other photos of Agonda beach:

Butterfly

Butterfly Beach is an inaccessible, wild beach in South Goa. The beach is only about 100 meters long, there is absolutely nothing and no one on it (except for the same as you, possible tourists who came here by boat).

It is believed that you can get there only by sea, from the beaches of Agonda or Palolem (the cost of renting a boat is from 800 to 1100 rupees in both directions). You can also rent a kayak (there is such a service on Palolem beach), it will take 40 minutes to row (2.5 km by sea).

In fact, it is possible to get to Butterfly beach by land, but this is a very bad road, in some places just a pile of stones. In the rainy season, this road is not at all, it is flooded. It is quite dangerous to overcome this road on a bike, but it is completely impossible by car, the safest thing is to walk.

Palolem

- a paradise beach with famous palm trees stretching to the water. But it is not at all like the one that it is called in guidebooks. Today Palolem has a very developed infrastructure and a rather crowded beach.

The beach is located in a quiet bay, thanks to which it is protected from wind and waves.

Along the entire beach there are a wide variety of houses, a distinctive feature of which is that they are all built on stilts (in contrast to the houses of Agonda). Also along the entire beach there are numerous beach cafes - sheki.

Snow-white crisp sand, calm blue sea, paradise beach bungalows "on legs" - this is what Palolem means.

The southern part of the beach is the most crowded and noisy; the sandy strip here is rather narrow. In the northern part, on the contrary, there are noticeably fewer people and a very wide sandy strip.

Southern part of Palolem: narrow sandy strip, right next to the necks

Wide beach in the northern part of Palolem

If you're lucky, you can watch the dolphins that live near the beach.

Palolem Beach offers numerous activities: parasailing, boat trips, water skiing. There is also an opportunity to rent a kayak, the cost of 1 hour is 200 rupees.

Other photos of Palolem beach:

Colombes

A remote beach of South Goa, nestled with a small horseshoe-shaped bay. Suitable for a quiet, secluded getaway. The beach is very picturesque: golden soft sand and black boulders on the beach strip and in the water.

There are several beach cafes on the beach and small bungalow houses. It is home to the rather famous eco-complex Bhakti Kutir, where you can rent a house made exclusively from sustainable local materials, and where you will be offered organic food.

You can also stay in a more substantial hotel in a village close to the beach.

Colomb Beach has its own attraction - a rock called the Drum of the Pandavs (heroes of Indian legends, warrior brothers). It is believed that if you throw a stone into a rock and hit a certain place, you can hear the sound of a drum.

You can reach Colomb Beach on foot from the nearby Palolem Beach (you can also sail from it by boat). You can also take a bus that travels from to Palolem.

Putnam

Putnam Beach is an improved version of Palolem. Here is the same paradise beach with golden sand and good infrastructure, but many times fewer people. Due to its location in a small bay, there are no big waves on Patnem, which is why families with children often choose this beach.

The length of the beach is about 1 km. On both sides, Patnem ends with rocky headlands. From the trees on Putnem, you can find both palms and pine trees.

There is a small street along the beach with various shops selling clothes, souvenirs, fruits. There are many beach cafes on the beach itself.

Not far from the beach is Canacona, the main town of the region. There are shops, ATMs and other benefits of civilization.

There are beach bungalow houses on the beach itself. There are also quite a few hotels in Canacona.

On the northern part of the beach is the Harmonica Healing Center, which offers a wide variety of wellness treatments and practices (including yoga and reiki).

Rajbag (Raj Baga)

An uncrowded and picturesque beach with a length of about 1 km. The entire territory behind the beach is occupied by the huge luxury hotel The LaLiT Golf & Spa Resort Goa, so mainly its guests rest on Rajbag. There are no other hotels and housing in general on Rajbag.

Five star Lalit hotel on Rajbag beach

There is only 1 beach cafe on Rajbag, no merchants.

You can get to Rajbag on foot from the nearby Patnem beach (not along the coast), or by kayak rented on Palolem (but it will be quite difficult sailing).

At the southern end of the beach, the rather full-flowing Talpon River flows into the sea, which separates Rajbag Beach from the next Talpon beach.

Talpona

Quiet, secluded, paradise beach due to its distant location. There are practically no people here, at some hours you will be the only visitors to this coast.

Despite its desolation, Talpon still has several beachside cafes with low prices.

A hut can be rented on the shore, there is also some accommodation in the village close to the beach.

Galjibaga (Turtle Beach)

Galjibaga Beach is considered the secret beach of South Goa. Indeed, few people know about him. Several kilometers of clean sand, a pine grove instead of palm trees and no sun loungers on the beach.

Galjibaga is famous among Goa patrons as one of the few places in Goa where you can eat the freshest oysters cheaply. We took a serving of fresh oysters with lime there for just Rs 200 per 7 oyster serving.

A deserted and paradise beach, very similar to our beloved Paradise Beach, which is located in the state of Maharashtra, near the Arambol beach of North Goa. In the pine grove that begins after the sand, there are several cafes serving fresh seafood. The rest of the infrastructure on the beach is missing.

Galjibaga is also known for the fact that there is a turtle nursery on this beach. They say that some turtles lay their eggs right on the sand, but during the day they do not go ashore, only at night.

By the field

This is the last beach in South Goa, immediately behind which begins another Indian state - Karnataka. The beach field is a crescent-shaped sandy strip about 700 meters long. Palm trees and pine trees grow along the sandy strip. The beach is fenced on both sides by green promontories jutting out into the sea.

The beach is completely deserted by the field, few people and rarely ever reach the farthest beach in Goa. Mostly local fishermen live here, but there are also several beach cafes-sheks. Also, for those wishing to spend a longer time on the paradise deserted beach, there are several bamboo huts on the beach, which can be rented for as little as Rs 200 per night.

You can get to Polem by bus, which goes from Margao or Panaji (you will have to walk about 1.5 km from the road through rice fields), as well as by auto rickshaw, taxi, rented bike or rented boat (you will need to agree with the owner of the boat when you will need to be taken back).

The smallest state in India lives its own isolated life. Often tourists argue about the resorts of Goa: where is it better to relax, speaking of it as a separate territory, without mentioning that it is just a part of a large state. Culturally and historically, the territory of Goa is divided into 2 parts ethnically, culturally and according to the direction of recreation. Located at a short distance from each other, the northern and southern resorts differ greatly in their structure and entertainment.

India goa state

The current state of Goa has a rich history. Its territory either expanded, exceeding the area of present-day India, then contracted and lost its identity. During the active conquest of the colonies, in 1510, the first European, Afonso d'Albuquerque, set foot on the land of Goa, who sailed by sea. He conquered the country with his army and turned it into a colony. The ancient city, Old Goa, becomes the capital under his rule.

The second governor was the famous Vasco da Gama. Goa began to flourish under his rule. The territory increased from Mombasa - Africa to Macau - China. St. Francis Xavier conducted his missionary activities in the old city and throughout the colony, and he was buried here.

There were a large number of religious buildings in Old Goa. For this he was nicknamed "the city of churches." Mixing different traditions has given rise to its own original style, inherent only in Goa. Temples, pagodas, churches and residential buildings delight with their facades and decor.

At the end of the 17th century, the British and Dutch drove out the Portuguese, first surrounding the territory of a prosperous state, then conquering it. Old Goa fell into decay, buildings began to collapse. Some are left only in ruins.

Goa acquired its current status of the state of India in 1961, when Indian troops occupied the territory after displacing the British. Portugal for a long time could not come to terms with the loss of fertile land. Only in 1987 did she admit her defeat and the independence of Goa.

What is the difference between north and south

The smallest state in India stretches along the coast from north to south for a distance of 101 km. From west to east, its maximum width is 65 km. For sightseeing, it doesn't matter which resort to stay at. Everything is close by, maximum one and a half hour drive one way.

Upstate

North Goa is easiest to describe by saying that it is the favorite vacation spot for hippies. It was they who stood at the origins of the transformation of the northern coast of the state into a resort area. Traditionally, young people who like active rest, noisy parties, and are not pretentious about the conditions of life, rest here.

There are practically no prestigious hotels in the north, 3 stars and below. The cost of vouchers is much lower than the average price. The beaches are mostly public, not very well maintained. On them you can meet crowds of local residents, roaming cows that should not be touched.

But in the evening discos and nightclubs open doors for energetic visitors. Music periodically sounds on the beaches, festivals are held. At one time in the north, the famous Liverpool four - the Beatles - rested and performed.

The north is much richer in sights, it is more accurate to go to them on a motorbike on average for an hour less than from the southern resorts of the state. Experienced tourists advise those who:

    first came to India and wants to study the life of local residents, their culture and traditions

    young at heart, despite the numbers in the passport;

    rejoices in simple human relationships;

    wants to see the most beautiful places in Goa;

    the spirit of freedom values above comfort;

    hippy and Beatles fan.

Tourists who are able to dance and have fun all day long return to the resorts of northern Goa, then, if there is no hotel room, sleep on the beach for a couple of hours and continue hanging out.

South Goa

Lovers of a calm, comfortable stay go to the south of the state. The cost of vouchers is much higher. Resorts in the southern part of Goa are visited by people with good incomes and families with children. There is no noisy nightlife here. Nature is inferior in beauty to the northern landscapes. The sand on the beach is gray. But comfortable sunbeds, clean, service at a high level.

Many hotels on the first line have 5 star hotels according to the international classification. Many shops, spas, sports clubs.

There are few attractions near the resorts. You can always rent a car with a driver-guide and go anywhere in the state and beyond.

Returning to resorts in the southern part of Goa:

    for family vacations;

    high level comfort without household problems;

    those wishing to spend a unique vacation;

    newlyweds;

    lovers of nature and clean water;

    those who want peace and detachment from the bustle of the city.

If you want to dance, spend the night with noisy music, nearby, an hour's drive away, there is northern Goa with its nightlife and festivals. You can get there by taxi and come back.

Best Resorts in North Goa

Resorts on the coast of the Arabian Sea are close by and it is not always possible to determine the boundaries. The beaches smoothly transition from one to another, differing in the types of sunbeds and the degree of grooming. The best time to visit the north of Goa is considered to be winter. You can have a good rest and swim from November to March. The heat begins in April and lasts until October. You can swim and sunbathe, but the feeling that you are in a sauna does not leave.

Morjim

About 20 years ago, Russian tourists came to the small village of Morjim. They enjoyed relaxing in this place. Since then, the flow of our compatriots has only increased. The village remained several kilometers inland. Hotels, bungalows, restaurants, shopping centers and other resort buildings are being actively built along the coast.

Morjim is located at a distance of 27 km from the state capital of Panaji. The nearest airport is Dabolim a little further, 51 km to it. To travel around India, you can use rail. The nearest station is in Pernem, it is 20 km away.

The peculiarity of the Morjim resort is the large number of Russians. It is jokingly called Rashin Beach. There are not only many compatriots here, but in the restaurants, in addition to local cuisine, Russian is served. Many hotel staff and guides speak the language of most holidaymakers. Thousands of photos of the resort and village are posted on social networks. Every tourist considers it his duty to take a picture against the background of the most beautiful places and post pictures for general discussion on the Internet.

Prices for tours and hotel accommodation are above average in Goa. This is explained by the influx of Russian tourists. The beaches with a width of 50 meters are quite deserted, with a developed infrastructure, stretching for 3 km. The sand is light, almost white and clean. The entrance to the water is shallow.

The road to the village of Morjim is difficult, confusing and not every driver will find it the first time. In the village itself, tourists do not settle. In addition to the hotel room, you can rent a bungalow, a separate house on the first line.

A palm grove separates the village from the resort. Vacationers like to be photographed against the background of beautiful trees.

The beach, or rather all establishments on its territory, are closed at dusk by order of the state authorities. This is a manifestation of care for the most important attraction of Morjim - the palm turtles. They come to the beaches in winter and lay their eggs. In the spring, together with their children born into the world, they float to another place.

Mandrem

The resort differs from most located in the north of Goa. It is difficult to find a noisy company in Mandrem. This is a family vacation spot. Children love to swim in shallow natural pools formed in depressions in the sandy strip along the water's edge.

The hotels provide conditions for children. You can order dishes without curry, a traditional hot seasoning that is added to all dishes in India. In hotels with a large territory there are children's rooms and entertainment for toddlers.

Arambol

The visiting card of the resort of northern Goa is Arambol. The busiest and most famous beach with yellowish sand. On it along the trees there are bars, cafes, sheks. Behind them are a number of inexpensive hotels with shops and street commerce. In the evening, a "drum circle" gathers on the beach. This market comes to see the sun off. The merchants lay out their wares in the evening and, they joke that they came to watch the sunset.

Calangute

The resort differs from the neighboring ones with a developed infrastructure. It is a whole town of hotels, bungalows, cottages for tourists. Finding free housing for anyone arriving on their own is not a problem.

The Calangute resort welcomes guests all year round. Even during the summer and rainy season, guests have plenty to do. Noisy companies meet on the streets of the resort day and night. The types of recreation are varied, everything is for active tourists who are engaged in water sports during the day and hang out at night.

Candolim

The Candolim resort can be called a transition zone between north and south. There are comfortable hotels 4 and 5 stars, night clubs and discos. Prices are above average. The audience is generally "solid". During the day, numerous kiters and windsurfers can be seen from the beach and the mountain above. The descent to the sea is steep, so families can relax with teenagers. Younger children will not be able to swim in the sea.

Tiracol

The northernmost resort of Tiracol has a wild beach with a single neck. On its territory, the river of the same name flows into the Indian Ocean. The hotel is located in a restored old fort building. The wall around it and the rest of the buildings are dilapidated.

The hotel rooms are clean, comfortable, with no claims to luxury. There is a restaurant on the ground floor. The windows offer a wonderful view of the sea or mountains. The fort is located at the highest point on the coast and is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Despite its location in the northern part of the state, Tiracol resort offers its guests a quiet, relaxing holiday. Party lovers can go to neighboring villages and have fun until the morning.

Calm and uncrowded southern beaches

Respectable tourists who have something to pay for comfort go on vacation to southern Goa. The beaches are distinguished by developed infrastructure and cleanliness. They do not show cows and locals rarely come here to swim after a hard day.

In the southern resorts, especially in hotels with a large surrounding area, all the necessary conditions have been created for families with children:

    a special menu in the restaurant;

    highchairs and cots for babies;

    children's rooms with animators;

    slides and attractions on the territory of the hotel.

At 5-star hotels, the white sand beaches are clean and well maintained. They may have limited access to outsiders. But at any time you can call the waiter and place an order.

Colva Beach

A kind of visiting card of the southern holiday. The longest sandy beach on the coast of Goa is 24 km long. The weak current and gentle flat descent make it comfortable and safe for children. They splash with pleasure in the shallow water near the coast.

Colva Beach combines prestigious comfortable hotels with luxurious rooms and 3-star hotels, small guest houses. A peaceful daytime rest is complemented by an active nightlife. In addition to bars and clubs, the night market opens at sunset.

Cavelossim

A small beach with white fine sand is framed by palm trees on the slopes of the horn. Between them, in the first line, there are luxurious villas, small hotels with luxurious rooms. The choice of entertainment is huge:

  • vidsurfing;

    riding on catamarans;

    walks along the coast on a yacht;

    fireworks and fire shows in the evenings;

    numerous excursions.

Children love walks on the sea with dolphins. Young people spend a lot of time at discos. Party Zone has the best disco club in South Goa.

Marjord

The most visited resort by Russians in the southern part of the state. Stunningly beautiful landscapes, magical sunset, white sand on the beach. Luxurious rooms, quality service create suitable conditions for lovers of comfort who have enough money to pay for everything.

National and European dishes are served in cafes and restaurants. The menu is in several languages, including Russian. Vacationers can practice any kind of sport, from surfing to beach volleyball.

You can visit spa salons, massage, fitness club. The resort offers tours throughout the state and country.

It is enough to determine exactly which type of vacation is preferable and choose the appropriate resort in Goa.

India is a mysterious country, which is still dominated by religious and cultural traditions that appeared many centuries ago. To visit the resorts of India means to get into the world of unique adventures, to feel the spirit of ancient wisdom, to find yourself in a different reality in which human abilities have no limits, and absolutely everything is possible. In this place, Hindu sects and ancient Buddhist monasteries have survived, in which mysterious, mysterious rituals are practiced. There are opportunities for both beach holidays and skiing.

Ski resorts in India: Auli

The expanses and views that open up in this marvelous place are simply breathtaking. In summer, the slopes of Auli are covered with grass and wild flowers, but as soon as it starts to snow, the picture completely changes. The main snow slope of Auli stretches for 5 kilometers, there are five hundred meter ski lifts and eight hundred meter chairlifts on it. At this location, snow compactors and snow machines are used to maintain the condition of the cover. The Auli resort is so luxurious that Austrian experts have compared it to the best slopes in Switzerland. In this place, it is possible to organize a two-week or one-week training course for everyone who is just starting to ride.

Gulmarg

This tourist village is located in the state of Kashmir. Looking at the best resorts in India, we can say that the place in this region for skiing is considered ideal. This is due to its weather conditions - an abundance of snow and a suitable relief.

The complete absence of trails and 2000 m of vertical elevation difference is a real dream for all freeride and backcountry lovers!

Due to the remoteness and lack of popularity of skiing among the local population, the resort pleases with untouched virgin lands and free slopes for several days after the snowfall.

Solang

Evaluating the best resorts in India, Solang can be singled out separately. This is one of the most picturesque ski villages in the country. Solang offers slopes of various levels, from beginner slopes to extreme trails.

Solang is a traditional Indian style resort. Two full-fledged blue slopes and 2 ski lifts, one of which is government-owned, therefore, tourists are prohibited from using it. But if you pay the operator of the second, then he may launch it for you at an inopportune time. In this area, the shortcomings are compensated for by the literacy of local workers - all the coaches were trained on the best slopes in Switzerland.

The resort has many local families and couples on their honeymoon. There are several cafes and eateries outside the resort.

Ayurvedic resorts in India

Kerala (the southern state of India) is the birthplace of Ayurveda. The largest concentration of Ayurvedic spas and clinics is located here. The Kerala resort (India) offers opportunities for relaxation for every budget and taste - from inexpensive treatment in public hospitals to a wellness course in prestigious Ayurvedic clinics.

The climate of this Indian state is ideal for medical treatment, while an uninterrupted supply of raw materials was established several centuries ago. Today rent of floating villas is becoming more and more popular here. Traveling in this way through the swamps of Kerala, the client receives treatment combined with the pleasure of contemplating the picturesque views around.

In addition, several Ayurvedic offices and clinics are located in the states of Karnataka and Goa. In addition to specialized clinics, such services are provided by each 5 * hotel and a beauty salon.

Goa

The state of Goa is located in the southeast of the country. This small piece of land consists almost entirely of beaches that have not been spoiled by civilization. 40 of them stretch for almost 100 km along the coast of the Arabian Sea. Although not all are equipped for swimming.

Goa is divided into 2 parts - South and North. At the same time, the state has the most popular resorts in India. The border is Fort Aguada. The beaches of the southern part are clean, sandy, designed for wealthy vacationers. The sea is calm and warm here. But in the north, poor tourists stay - hippies, students, musicians. These beach resorts in India have a lot of shops, noisy bazaars, eateries, and round-the-clock discos are held here.

North Goa

This is the most suitable area of the country for tourists who choose active holidays when they come to a country like India. Goa resorts offer their guests constant parties and non-stop entertainment that take place around the clock. In hotel rooms, unpretentious living conditions are compensated by their low cost. Renting housing in the private sector is also popular among tourists.

"Tiracol"

Above the sandy beach rises a majestic structure called Fort Tiracol, today the Heritage Hotel. This is the northernmost beach in the region and the most untouched by civilization, wild.

"Arambol"

Also the beach "Arambol" is called "Harmal". Here the sand is white and soft, with a freshwater pond and cottages on the lateral red soil among the stones. The road leading to the beach is surrounded by Aboriginal huts selling clothes and souvenirs to tourists. The beach is limited by the river. Tiracol.

Vagator

Tour operators have mastered Vagator for a long time, so it is quite difficult for "wild" tourists to find a place for themselves in a hotel. In addition, the resort is experiencing quite serious difficulties with water supply, although this is generally different in India. Goa resorts have many shops with clean bottled water. In no case should you drink tap liquid.

The steep slope of the hill descending to the Vagator beach adorns the Chapora Fort. It was built by the Portuguese in 1617 on the ruins of an ancient Islamic structure. This place offers an amazing view of the surroundings. The place where the river flows into the sea is impressive. Juari. This part of the beach has high cliffs, which are popular with honeymooners who want to take memorable photos, as well as those who are looking for solitude.

Anjuna

The beach is located 8 kilometers from Mapusa. The city in the 10-12th centuries. was an Arab commercial port, for which it received the name "Chamber of Commerce". At the moment, a flea market is organized here every Wednesday, the richest and most famous in the entire state. In this place you can find everything your heart desires - from various products of Tibetan weavers to porcelain cups from the period of British colonization.

If you want to know which resorts in India are the most popular with tourists, then it is worth considering that this is the most photographed beach in the state. Therefore, you cannot find solitude here. Lovers of exotic things come here from everywhere. In addition, during the full moon night raves take place in this place, which means that you need to beware of drug dealers and petty thieves.

Baga

This place has a small picturesque beach with few hotels. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly where Calangute begins and Baga ends. The territory here is clean, the sand is brown, and there are many local residents - fishermen and hawkers. The main plus is the Baga river, in which children swim with pleasure. At the point where the river flows into the sea, there are beautiful black stones, around them the water is constantly boiling. Not so long ago, an evening (Saturday) market began to be held here. He is quite good, walking to the market in Anjuna is far from him.

Calangute

Calangute has been a major gathering place for hippies in the past. At the present moment, the seven-kilometer crescent of the beach is chosen by organized tourists. The quality of the rest is affected by the huge number of beachgoers. This is not very good for those looking for privacy, although the infrastructure is well developed here. In this place you can always find where to sleep and eat. Some of the nightclubs are open until the morning.

South Goa

This is a calm and quiet vacation in hotels, which is suitable for people who want to escape from winter for a week without being disturbed. In South Goa, entertainment is hard to find. Of the beaches, only Palolem (the southernmost one) deserves attention - this is actually a nice place.

Dona Paula

At the place where two famous Indian rivers flow into the Arabian Sea, Dona Paula Bay is located with stunning views of Mormugao. It is a cozy nest hidden on the southern side of the plateau that divides the rivers. To the west of the beach is the official residence of the state governor. Not far from it are the remains of a small British military cemetery.

This beach is a paradise for lovers. It received its name in honor of the daughter of the Lieutenant Governor Dona Paula de Menezes. Legend has it that she threw herself off a cliff after being separated from the fisherman she fell in love with. And to this day, her rebellious spirit wanders the neighborhood. Locals say that sometimes, on moonlit nights, they see her swinging on the waves of the sea in a pearl necklace.

"Vainiginim"

This beach is located in Kurlavangni Bay. The name comes from the word "wingon". The locals called rice in this way, sowing the fields with it. Here in the 16th century the Jesuits lived, who turned the coast of the bay into a piece of paradise, planting it with exotic plants brought from everywhere. Today tourists have the opportunity to admire the remains of that luxury.

Majorda

This is a strip of beaches that united coastal areas near villages from Mobor to Velsao (Arossim, Velsao, Majorda, Utorda, Colva, Betalbatim, Varga, Benaulim, Betul, Kavellosim, Mobor). The sands here are not the whitest. Groves of fruit trees and palms go down to the sea everywhere; at low tide, among the sand, you can see various sea inhabitants: sea urchins and stars, crabs, trepangs, snakes and so on.

Colva

Colva is the main tourist center of the southern part of the state, although there are noticeably fewer tourists in this place than in Calangute. This part of the coast is slightly less developed, therefore, the resort is avoided by people who are afraid to face various difficulties. At the same time, the lack of visitors is more than made up for by the locals, attracted by the many hotels and excellent restaurants. All these bright and numerous buildings slightly spoil the splendor of the beach. But lovers of solitude on foot along the coast can reach the secluded corners of the resort.

Benaulim

There are even fewer tourists here than in Kolva. At the same time, there is more than enough local flavor. People go to Benaulim who prefer noisy bars to cozy little cafes, and the scorching sun to cozy shady country roads. In the evening and on weekends, locals come to the beach.

The wave height here in September reaches half a meter. Dolphin groups are frequent visitors to local waters, swimming almost to the very coast. Benaulim village is famous for its rosewood products and furnishings, which are sold everywhere.

Mobor

Sandy long spit, which formed at the confluence of the river. Sal to the lagoon, surrounded on 3 sides by water. A huge number of charming islets, white lilies, sand dunes - all this makes Mobor unlike other resorts in India. The luxurious white sands are municipal property, so no need to pay attention to the hotel announcements that a certain part of the coast is exclusively for their guests.

Palolem

Palolem was not in the sphere of interests of travel agencies until recently. Because of this, the atmosphere of naturalness and tranquility has been preserved here, which not all resorts in India can boast of. There is a blue sea, white sands, green palms. The seascape is diversified by several wooded tiny islets. You can swim to them by paying the fishermen. There are still few stalls with souvenirs here. In addition, there is a fresh water spring in the northern part of the beach. The most popular activities here are trips to the dolphin gathering site and fishing.

There are exchange offices here, but there are no banks. The nearest railway station is 3 kilometers away, taxis and buses run all the time between settlements and the beach.

South or North Goa - which one to choose?

North and South Goa are very different! Find out how to choose the best resort.

South Goa: dear and calm rest. South Goa is almost 2.5 times larger than its northern counterpart in area and 3 times in length of the coastline. There are excellent sandy beaches, clear water and mountains. In the reviews, tourists are advised to go to South Goa for families with children and those who want privacy - there are fewer people here, but hotels are mostly expensive.

North Goa: budget and party holidays. In the north of the state, there are beaches with grayish volcanic sand, not as beautiful as in the south. The infrastructure is better developed here, the choice of housing is greater - from luxury hotels to cheap guesthouses. And if the south is preferred by lovers of secluded relaxation, then in the north noisy parties and nightlife are in full swing. Generally, the unpretentious audience comes here, their goal is entertainment. This part of the state was once chosen by hippies in the 60s of the last century.

It used to be a hippie vacation spot, now it is a popular crowded beach with hotels and restaurants. Locals love to visit Calangute, it never happens empty. Around - palm groves, at the entrance rises the dome of the temple. There is also an art gallery with works by local painters. According to reviews about a vacation in Goa, the main drawback of this beach is a lot of crowds and the obsession of local merchants.

Candolim beach

The beach is clean and not as crowded as Calangute. But the descent to it is quite steep. Candolim is considered more prestigious: locals rarely come here, more often foreigners.

According to the reviews of tourists, this beach in Goa is very fond of Indians and come to rest with their families. Mostly they crowd at the main entrances, so move 200-300 meters to the side - there are fewer people.

Betalbatim beach

Well suited for family and relaxing holidays, several hotels and shacks on almost 1.5 km of sandy strip. The most popular among our tourists is Nanu Resort Goa.

This beach is loved by Russians. Prices in Morjim are higher, but the infrastructure is developed - new bungalows, excellent restaurants, always well-groomed territory. The wave is good for surfing and kiting. All hotels are located in the green zone one kilometer from Morjim.

Arambol beach

The beach is with fine sand, white and gold, surrounded by cottages and huts. A yoga center is also organized here. Arambol is popular with surfers and hippies, but the place is quite calm and peaceful.

Ashvem Beach

Ashvem is calm and not crowded. Shallow warm backwater and shakes with varied cuisine. According to reviews, it is better for romantics and families with children to relax on this beach in Goa.

Goa hotel reviews and prices - 2020

South Goa hotels are better than hotels in the north. But in North Goa, there are many budget housing. The range of housing prices in the state is huge: you can rent a double room from $ 8 per night to $ 400-500 and even more.

There are many hotels here - choose for every taste! The cost of a simple double room not far from the coast starts from $ 8-9 per night, many housing offers in the $ 10-30 range. Pay attention to hotel ratings and reviews - this is especially important in India.

Prices for hotels in Goa in high season 2020 for double occupancy:

- a beautiful area, a garden, separate bungalows, a clean beach, delicious breakfasts, but there are also rooms with crumbling furniture and battered linens.
  • in Kansaulim - new rooms, spa services and Ayurveda. Cons - the kitchen and the slowness of the staff.
  • Leela Goa 5 * in Cavelossim - great rooms, great beach and good food. A small minus - because of the river, there are many mosquitoes in the neighborhood, and there is nowhere to walk - there are only poor fishing villages around.
  • Bad hotels... Tourists left a lot negative reviews about Valentines Retreat in Candolim: old furniture and bathroom, poor food and poor service, it is better not to use laundries. They complain about The Golden Palms Colva 4 * hotel - poor service, worn-out furniture, unpretentious food, which becomes too spicy in the summer due to the influx of Indian tourists.

    Goa food prices - 2020

    According to reviews, the prices in Goa pleasantly surprise tourists, they are so low here: a portion of soup costs 50-60 rupees, rice with chicken 100-150 rupees, shrimp - 150 rupees, tea - about 30 rupees, juice - from 50 rupees. True, you will have to pay at least 1200 rupees for the lobster. ...

    The main catering establishment is a beach shack (shek). Kitchen-shed with everything you need, in front of it there is a terrace and tables for visitors. So primitive, but how delicious! There are Indian, Chinese, European dishes, always seafood, chicken, rice, juices.

    In reviews of food in Goa, tourists call Cafe Maitree in Arambol the best and frankly expensive - check the price of the dish in advance. If homesickness takes over, stop by Home Cafe Dacha in Arambol, where you can eat for Rs 300-500. Rainbow Bar is popular in Morjim - tasty, inexpensive, good service, the average check is 500 rupees.

    The resorts of South Goa are not at all bustling India, as in the northern part of Goa, because here you will not see crowds of people on the beach, young people having fun. There is light, almost velvet sand, which is constantly being cleaned. Rest on local beaches will give you a mix of tranquility and exoticism at the same time. So, which beaches in Goa are definitely worth visiting? Read on for more details.

    How to get there

    Usually planes arrive at an airport called Dabolim. From here to the place where the popular resorts of South Goa are located, it is best to take a taxi. The order of transport is carried out at the airport counter, where you can find out the prices for it.

    Of course, you can also take public transport. First you need to get from Dabolim to the village of Vasco da Gama. This can be done using an autorickshaw. Further from Vasco da Gama they go by bus to the capital city in the district, which is called Panaji. Then tourists have to get on intercity flights to the Margao junction, and then from this point you can go on auto-rickshaws to the resort that you need.

    South Goa Transport

    In the southern part of the region people use bicycles more than motorcycles as in the north. The area is more flat, tourists love to enjoy the view of palm trees on their way to the beach.

    If you want to experience the Indian flavor even better, you have the opportunity to interact with the people of Goa using the bus service.

    Can i rent a car?

    South Goa resorts (described below) allow you to rent both motorcycles, bicycles and a car. But if you expect to see polite drivers on Indian roads, then the local car culture will clearly disappoint you. It is customary here to honk and cut loudly, so it can be difficult for tourists to travel by car in this region. You can rent a vehicle with a professional driver, but the cost is quite high. For that kind of money, you can ride a taxi all day.

    Beaches and popular resorts

    If we talk about specific places, then the resorts of South Goa (the list is given below) include many tourist centers. We will talk about them further.

    "Dona Paula" (Goa) is a beach that couples in love especially love to visit. According to local legend, he was so named in honor of the vice-governor's daughter, who jumped from one of the rocks into the sea out of grief. She did this because she could not stand the separation from her beloved, with whom she was not allowed to see, because he was an ordinary fisherman. This beach has a chic sports club where you can practice water sports.

    Benaulim (Goa) - these are calm beaches, next to which you can stay in inexpensive hotels. However, this is a rather expensive resort for the average tourist. This place is located near the town of Colva. Goa is perfect for a relaxing holiday. Therefore, here everyone will find something to their liking. Benaulim (Goa) is located between the Sal River and the coast of the Arabian Sea.

    Betul is considered to be the most inaccessible beach. This is the place that tourists get to by boat, but it is here that you can taste the delicious mussels in the area.

    Colva (Goa) is one of the main holiday destinations for tourists throughout South Goa, but it is here that you can find an inexpensive hotel and dine in affordable establishments where travelers love to watch entertainment shows in the evenings.

    Truly luxurious hotels are located on the stretch of coastline that is considered the Palopem Beach. This is one of the best and most famous places in the world. This beach is perfect for a comfortable, truly heavenly holiday.

    A long spit of sand called "Mobor" is surrounded by water, so many tourists come to see the beautiful islands and dunes. Do not be discouraged if you see an inscription on one of the beaches stating that it is a private property. All land off the coast in India is a state, municipal property. Therefore, you can relax on the beach in peace.

    Souvenirs from Goa

    In North Goa, you can buy many souvenirs that will remind you on cold autumn evenings of the atmosphere of warm and mysterious India. Local flavor is the main commodity that is, as they say, “popular” in this region. Many tourists buy national costumes (saris and traditional trousers), home-made fabrics, embroidered bedspreads with decorative elements. Also popular here are bags made of genuine leather, cosmetics of natural origin, aromatic products. In addition, in local shops, sellers offer to buy inexpensive metal jewelry (mainly bronze and silver).

    Local kitchen

    Basically, the local resorts are popular due to fish delicacies and seafood. Here you can taste fresh dishes prepared according to special recipes from mussels, octopus, squid, shrimp; feast on oysters, lobsters, etc. As for fish, in Goa you can choose from tuna, shark, lamphret, etc. As a rule, seafood is fried, baked and served in combination with vegetables. Sauce is also useful.

    If you are wondering what you can eat in Goa, then on the beaches the locals sell tortillas stuffed with vegetables, chicken and fruits.

    What to do and see in South Goa?

    The main attraction of the region is Old Goa. A visit to the ancient capital is on the list of must-see activities for tourists. There are many architectural monuments in the historical center of the city. Travelers especially like the Church of St. Catherine, a visit to the Bom Jesus Basilica, etc.

    If you love scuba diving, you will love the island called Bath, where you can see the inhabitants of the reefs in the clear water.

    Those who prefer outdoor recreation can enjoy a sightseeing trip to Dudhsagar. This is a high waterfall, and near it there is a spice plantation, which tourists also willingly visit.

    In addition, travelers like to travel to a conservation area called Cotigar. Rare species of Indian birds and animals live here under age-old trees. Tourists expect to see wild cats, but they are not frequent visitors during the day. However, do not despair, because you can look at monkeys or a wild boar.

    Not far from the site on which the Bogmalo beach is located, there is a museum complex that tells visitors about military aviation. There are models and layouts of various vehicles, as well as samples of uniforms for Indian pilots during the war.

    Lovers of architectural and historical monuments will love the oldest temple in the region. Mahadeva is dedicated to the great Shiva, and he was carved from granite around the 13th century. Also in South Goa there is the Cross Museum, where you can look at the ancient crucifixes and crosses presented in a huge collection.

    Weather

    What is the best time of the year to come here for a vacation? What is the difference between climatic conditions in the north of the region and in its southern part? In fact, the weather is almost always the same. It may be hard to believe, but the natural conditions of North and South Goa are almost always identical.

    How long is the holiday season? It starts in October and ends in May. It was then that Russian and European vacationers came to South Goa. The daytime temperature here rarely drops below thirty degrees Celsius, and the water warms up to twenty-six at any time of the year.

    The most popular period among vacationers is considered to be the period that begins in November and ends in February. But even then the humidity level is about seventy percent. Do not come here in summer and early September, as it rains in South Goa at this time, and you are unlikely to be able to soak up the beach or see the city sights.
