When is the best time to relax in Mui Ne. Mui Ne is a Russian-speaking resort in Vietnam. House Museum of Ho Chi Minh City and the school where he taught

We are talking about the two most popular resorts in Vietnam - Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. Why are they good and what are the disadvantages of resorts? Here are the reviews of tourists and prices for vacations in 2019.

Perhaps no resort has received such conflicting reviews from tourists as the Vietnamese Mui Ne (Phan Thiet). Some scold him mercilessly, others admire him and gladly recommend him to visit. Let's try to understand the reasons for such ambiguous assessments.

Phan Thiet and MUI ne:

Reviews about holidays in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet for 2018

Muine and Phan Thiet are often identified with each other, although these are different settlements located in the neighborhood. Phan Thiet is a provincial town with active traffic and other joys of city life, while Mui Ne is a quiet fishing village. Most often, tourists call Mui Ne a multi-kilometer beach area with hotels and restaurants, stretching from Phan Thiet to the village.

The busiest area of the resort is Ham Tien with Nguyen Din Chu street, on both sides of which there are hotels and restaurants, mainly on the first line. The beaches are equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers. The sandy strip is wide, with fine white sand, but closer to the fishing village it narrows, by the way, there are cheaper hotels, but the beaches are worse.

The disadvantages of Mui Ne and Phan Thiet, according to the reviews of tourists who rested there in 2018, include difficulties with the road: you need to fly to Ho Chi Minh City, and from there it will take a bus or taxi for a few more hours. But the sea caused the main displeasure of some tourists. In Mui Ne, winds blow most of the time, high waves rise on the sea, and swimming becomes extreme. It is better to get to the beach in the morning, after lunch the excitement only intensifies. The sea becomes relatively calm only in spring.

For lovers of kiting, Mui Ne is a real expanse; there are several good schools on the coast, where beginners can get training and get the necessary skills. In the evenings, the main entertainment of tourists is walking, shopping in souvenir shops and dinner on the seashore - seafood is excellently prepared here. If you get bored of a beach holiday, you can go on an excursion around the surroundings or go to Ho Chi Minh City or Da Lat.

By the way, tourists who do not speak English will find it easy here - almost all signs and menus are in Russian, the staff are also often Russian-speaking. The second undoubted plus of Mui Ne and Phan Thiet, according to tourists' reviews, is the affordable cost of rest, although when compared with Nha Trang, the prices here are slightly higher.

Weather in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet

The warm climate of Mui Ne allows you to rest here all year round, without fear of sudden cold snaps and torrential rains. Around Mui Ne, a natural belt of sand dunes has formed, which create a special microclimate and protect the area from heavy rainfall. Even dangerous storms with floods bypass these places.

The average annual temperature in Mui Ne is kept at around + 30 ° С with a slight "winter" decrease to +25 ... + 27 ° С. The warmest sea in summer is + 27 ... + 29 ° С, in winter it cools down to + 24 ° С. It is hottest in May and April, coldest of all -. Nevertheless, many prefer to come.

The rains begin in June and continue until October, then dry and clear weather sets in. However, in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet, even in the low season, the showers do not last long - usually in the afternoon and evening, the relative humidity remains at 79%.

According to tourists' reviews about the weather in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet, in December - January, due to strong winds, it can be a little cool in the evenings, so jeans and windbreakers will be very useful. High waves rise on the sea. Read more about - we tell about the weather in each month.

Prices for holidays in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet in 2019

Of course, kitesurfers will get the most out of their vacation in Mui Ne, but non-sports tourists also have something to do. There are many massage parlors (spas), treatments cost from 15 to 30 dollars.

Gourmets await gastronomic pleasures: in the cafe you can order grilled fish, mussels, scallops, oysters, lobsters, as well as local exotic dishes from a crocodile or a snake. The best seafood is prepared in restaurants in the Boke area. The fresh catch is placed in the aquarium, and the guest orders what he wants. According to reviews, prices in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are quite democratic - you can dine for only $ 5, dinner for $ 15 (it will be even cheaper in local establishments). A large glass of freshly squeezed juice costs just over $ 1.

In the vicinity of Mui Ne there are unique attractions that you can visit with a guided tour or on your own. In short, the top most interesting places looks like this:

  1. White and Red dunes... These are the main attractions of Mui Ne and a favorite place for photo shoots with newlyweds. The Red Dunes are easily accessible by renting a scooter, the White Dunes are located a little further. Near the Red Dunes, the Red Stream flows - due to the admixture of clay, the water in it turns red. Not far from the White Dunes there are hot springs and a very beautiful lake with lotuses.
  2. Cham towers... These towers are the surviving part of the ancient temple complex of the 8th century. The entrance is paid - 10 thousand dongs, or 50 cents. The towers look especially impressive in the evening, when the backlight is turned on.
  3. Ke Ga lighthouse... A granite creation by a French architect and a very popular local landmark. The lighthouse is located on an island near Phan Thiet. To climb the observation deck, you will have to show physical endurance and climb 182 steps inside the tower. The entrance is paid - about 90 cents, in addition, you need to pay for the ferry to the island. According to tourists, in the winter of 2018, the territory where the lighthouse is located was called the collapse zone and they stopped letting visitors inside. Let's hope this is temporary.
  4. Mount Taku... Located 30 km from Mui Ne. At the top is the Reclining Buddha statue, the largest in the country. Its length is 49 meters, height - 11 m. You can climb the mountain by funicular or walk along a path through the rainforest past the temples and other structures of the monks. The cost of a visit with the cable car is 160 thousand VND ($ 7).

Prices for hotels in 2019

On a note. If you are at a resort during the Vietnamese New Year, keep in mind that hotel prices are going up tremendously and there are no places conceived in them - they are booked by the Vietnamese almost six months in advance. We encountered this when we lived in Nha Trang in the winter of 2016 - we had to leave for Ho Chi Minh City, since the hotel in which we lived on Tet was overcrowded, while others cost 2-3 times higher than the usual price. Tet is celebrated in late January or early February.

How to book a hotel? You can find a convenient accommodation option for yourself on the well-known Roomguru.ru service - the site compares prices of various booking systems and finds the best one.

In general, Mui Ne and Phan Thiet are a good alternative and (although you don't need to wait for the service corresponding to Turkish resorts), a place for an inexpensive and relaxing holiday, where the main entertainment is walking, beach joys, sitting in cafes and unobtrusive shopping. Fans of nightlife and divers have nothing to do here - there is no nightlife, and the water, due to constant waves, often mixes with sand, muddy and opaque.

According to tourists, they are characterized by high waves and winds, so during this period you should not plan a vacation with children, but it is better to postpone it to March-April or November. At this time, the most comfortable temperature indicators, a very warm sea, and the waves are insignificant.

Kitesurfers can go any time of the year, because the winds in Mui Ne are common, but the best waves here are from November to March. Those who want to save on cost can safely go during the low season: prices in hotels and restaurants are reduced, and climatic conditions make it possible to rest comfortably.

By itself, it is of little interest to foreigners, except for the colorful morning market and brightly painted fishermen's boats. The nearby Phan Thiet also does not stand out in anything special. But between them stretches a 10-kilometer beach, for the sake of which everyone comes here to relax.

Someone calls this resort Mui Ne, someone - Phan Thiet, but in fact it is not about settlements, but about the coastal zone between them. Further in the article the word "Mui Ne" is used in this very meaning.

The resort is popular with two categories of tourists: water sports enthusiasts and people from the CIS. The first ones come because of the waves and the constantly blowing wind: Mui Ne has excellent conditions for kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Tourists from the former USSR choose the resort because of the ubiquitous spread of the Russian language: Russian-speaking employees work in almost every restaurant, shop or travel agency, so knowledge of English is not required for rest in Mui Ne.

About Mui Ne

The infrastructure of the resort is not very developed - everything you need is there, but, for example, there are no large supermarkets, shopping and entertainment centers. Hotels, restaurants, shops and travel agencies are located along the only road from Mui Ne to Phan Thiet, parallel to the beach. Solid resorts with access to the sea are built between the road and the coast, and there are simpler hotels across the road.

During the day, tourists spend time on the beach, and in the evenings - in bars and restaurants with live music. Those who, apart from this, do not need anything, will like Mui Ne. But with excursions, sights and a cultural program at this resort is tight: not that this is not at all, but in comparison with, for example, much less.

How to get to Mui Ne?

There is no airport in Mui Ne. The closest is in Ho Chi Minh City, 200 km away. From Ho Chi Minh Airport, you can take a taxi to Mui Ne. The fair price is 2,200,000 dongs ($ 100) for a car, but initially they say much more O the largest amount, so you need to bargain.

A bus ticket costs 150,000-220,000 VND, depending on the greed of the middlemen. The easiest way to buy tickets is in the tourist area: on Pham Ngu Lao and Bui Vien streets.

When is the cheapest flight from Moscow to Ho Chi Minh City

Intercity buses in Vietnam are comfortable, so the five-hour journey to Mui Ne will not be tiresome. It is not recommended to get to Mui Ne by train: the station is located 35 km from the resort.

Beach holiday in Mui Ne

The high season in Mui Ne begins in November and lasts until April, then the rains begin. The beach at the resort is a ten-kilometer strip of sand, which is conventionally divided into separate parts to make it easier to navigate. All along the beach there are different areas - clean or with natural debris, wide or narrow, with sand or concrete slabs on the shore.

The coast of Mui Ne has two features: firstly, it is almost always windy here and there are waves at sea, so you need to settle in a resort with a pool in case the waves are too big. Secondly, the current washes away the sand from the shore, so there are places with exposed concrete slabs, which were laid to protect the beach line from washing out.

In general, for inexperienced swimmers and swimming with a small child, you will have to find a suitable place along the coast, because b O Most of the beach is not very suitable for these categories of vacationers.

Attractions Mui Ne

Dunes

Sand dunes are the main attraction of the resort. They are, of course, smaller than the dunes in the Sahara, but they look impressive. The sand dunes differ in color: there are red and white. They are located not far from each other, near the village of Mui Ne.

Pros and cons of staying in Mui Ne

Minuses: few attractions; there is no airport, so you have to get there by bus; inconvenient layout - the resort is stretched along one street; from the second line it is not easy to get to the beach, because the first line is densely built up and the passages to the sea are obstructed.

pros: Sprawling palms and lush greenery on the first line of the beach; calm atmosphere and silence in the evenings (except for a few popular restaurants); delicious and inexpensive seafood dishes; you can do without English - Russian-speaking staff are often found.

Phan Thiet (also called Phan Thiet) is a small but rather lively Vietnamese city. Phan Thiet is located in the southeastern part of Vietnam. Not too rich in attractions, it is nevertheless becoming an increasingly popular holiday destination. This is largely due to the nearby tourist village of Mui Ne (or Mui Ne). However, Phan Thiet himself also deserves attention.

And by itself, it would have looked quite dignified, if not for the neighboring town of Mui Ne. Many tourists simply transit through Phan Thiet - there is no good reason to stop here when the area's main beach town looms on the horizon. But it would be unfair to simply view it as the gateway to the Mui Ne resort. This town has enough local charm and character to keep curious travelers interested for a day or two, if time permits.

Phan Thiet is considered, unlike Nha Trang, a fairly quiet and calm resort, which is positioned by travel agencies as a place for family vacations. Is this really so - let's try to figure it out further ...

So, let's try to answer the age-old question that arises before a trip not only to Vietnam, but also to any other country: "Where is the best to go?" To begin with, we will dwell on the intricacies of rest in Phan Thiet and Mui Ne, and then we will walk through other resorts of Vietnam.

The first (but not the only) obstacle for families with children is that there is no own airport here, and you have to fly first to Ho Chi Minh City, and then get to Phan Thiet. If you organize your vacation on your own, then the 240 km path can be covered either by train (there is even a special tourist train for $ 25), or by car for $ 80 for the whole car. The second option is preferable, since it is about 10 km from the railway station to the city and you still have to take a taxi for 7-8 dollars.

The first resorts appeared here in the mid-90s, and since then tourism has grown rapidly and hundreds of hotels, restaurants, spas, hotels and shops have been built along the coastline. A chain of hotels stretches along the coast from the city itself to the village of Mui Ne.

This map of Phan Thiet and MUI ne will help you get an idea of the geography of this place.

The most expensive and fashionable hotels are located in the city itself and near it. The farther from the city and closer to the fishing village, the more budgetary the vacation will be. This is how this chain of hotels flows - from expensive to cheaper ones.

You can stay in a guesthouse for 10-15 dollars a day for a modest room with a shower - this is a budget vacation. Hotel prices start at $ 20.

Sand dunes, fishing village, lotus lake, Cham towers, red canyon - all this is very close. Except for the sand dunes, everything else is accessible by a local bus.

For local attractions and excursions in Phan Thiet, we have a special overview (see the link). There we will also dwell in detail on the features of local beaches.

We have mentioned Nha Trang, another popular resort in Vietnam, several times. In order to decide which is better - Phan Thiet or Nha Trang, we suggest following this link.

It seems that after that you can definitely decide whether you should spend 2 weeks of your precious vacation on Phan Thiet and MUI ne.

Mui Ne is a small village in the south of Vietnam, but it attracts Russian tourists very much. Why? One street is about 5 km long, along which hotels, cafes, bokeh (restaurants with live seafood), souvenir shops are built. The sea is restless, quite powerful waves and always strong wind. No wonder Mui Ne is called a paradise for surfers (and kitesurfers): they feel good here. But why tourists who expect to have a beach holiday go to Mui Ne, we do not understand.

Nevertheless, we personally felt this calm, pacifying atmosphere of Mui Ne: here you don't want to fuss, life flows calmly and measuredly. Maybe that's why our compatriots come here, neglecting the interesting, bright and beachy, but noisy and restless Nha Trang? One thing we know for sure: we would not have survived longer than a week in Mui Ne, it is good for a reboot, but not for a long life. Of course, this is our personal opinion, based on our rhythm of life and our interests.

Phan Thiet on Vietnam map:

What is the sea in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet?

News Vietnam is washed by the South China Sea, but it behaves differently in different coastal areas. As I wrote above, this sea in Mui Ne is restless.

The peculiarities of the location of the village are that the winds always blow here, all year round. Stronger winds blow in winter - this time is called "season". In fact, it is a season for kitesurfers and surfers who are attracted to Mui Ne primarily by this constant wind that allows them to ride every day.

Mui Ne kitesurfing schools at every turn

But for ordinary tourists, the sea in Mui Ne is not very suitable: strong waves make it dangerous for swimming with children, plus kitesurfers and surfers are constantly spinning around the swimmers, which is why there is a threat of getting hit on the head with a board.

In the "off-season" (that is, in summer) the sea in Mui Ne is calmer, the winds are not so strong. However, the sea is unclear. After the rains, a lot of garbage is carried to the shore, which is why the beach is very dirty.

The beach in Mui Ne lasts along the only street. From the beginning of the street (we will consider the part that is closer to the Red Dunes as the beginning) and until about the middle, the beach looks extremely unpresentable: just steps into the sea, without a sandy strip. There are low tides, during which you can see a thin strip of wet sand, but mostly vacationers in hotels on this site have to swim, entering the sea from the stairs.

In the afternoon the sea reaches the steps

The other part of Mui Ne beach (which is located closer to Phan Thiet) looks pretty good: a wide sandy strip, sun loungers and umbrellas. We were on this beach in the "off season", in June, so the beaches are so deserted.

Every evening in Mui Ne we watched the low tide, during which many beautiful seashells appear on the shore.

We also noticed that there are a lot of jellyfish in Mui Ne, there are much fewer of them in Nha Trang, and they appear quite rarely, mainly in autumn.

Despite the fact that during our stay in Mui Ne the sea was quite calm, there was no desire to enter it and swim. Fortunately, our hotel had an excellent pool on the beach. By the way, we noticed that almost all the hotels on the shore in Mui Ne have a swimming pool. Maybe all the tourists, who have a rest in the village, just like us, are saved by the pool overlooking the sea?

It's fair to say that you can find a decent beach in Mui Ne. We read that one of these is available at the Sea Links hotel (the same one on the territory of which the Wine Castle is located).

Distance from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet (Mui Ne)

Mui Ne is 220 km from Nha Trang, Phan Thiet is a little further - 240 km.

How much to go from Nha Trang to Mui Ne (Phan Thiet) and how to get

The easiest way to get from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is by an intercity bus - slipbass. A ticket for it can be bought at numerous street travel agencies in Nha Trang or at the bus stations of Sinh Tourist, Hanh Café, Futa Bus, Nam Phuong. We bought a ticket from The Sinh Tourist, a ticket for one person cost 109,000 VND ($ 4.6).

On the way, the bus is about 5 hours, but they fly very quickly: in the slipbass you can sit comfortably, practically lying down, sleep, read, watch interesting videos (there is free Wi-Fi). The bus makes 2 stops for 15-20 minutes, during which you can go to the toilet, have a snack in a cafe or just stretch your legs.

Slipbas Nha Trang-Mui Ne

Riding from Nha Trang to Mui Ne on a bike is quite difficult, and we strongly advise against overcoming this path in this way. The point is not only fatigue, but also in huge wagons that drive along the highway at a breakneck speed, under the wheels of which our Russian guys very often die, traveling between cities on their own. The Vietnamese deal with trucks very carefully, there is an unwritten rule here: the larger the car, the more important it is. Russians, on the other hand, are accustomed to equal rights on the roads, and perhaps that is why it all ends tragically.

Distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne (Phan Thiet) and how to get there

From Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet - 191 km, to Mui Ne - 214 km.

The road from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne on the map:

You can get there in the same way as from Nha Trang - by slipbass. Travel time and ticket price are the same: about 5 hours and 110,000 VND ($ 4.6).

Nha Trang or Mui Ne (Phan Thiet): which is better?

For us, the answer to this question is obvious: of course Nha Trang! Mui Ne has only one single superiority - low population, and as a result of this, serenity. For some, another advantage of Mui Ne, in comparison with Nha Trang, is the cheapness of housing. This is true: you can rent a small house for only $ 150−170.

You cannot find such prices in Nha Trang, for this amount per month you can only rent a room in a guest house. But for us, this plus is not a plus, since we do not want to live in small "vietnam style" houses, and there are simply no modern European-style apartments in Mui Ne.

You can, of course, live not in Mui Ne, but in Phan Thiet itself. This city is quite modern, slightly smaller than Nha Trang in size, but with a developed infrastructure: apartment buildings, shopping centers and places for walking.

Deserted main street in Mui Ne, and it's already lunch time

Where are all the people?

And this is Phan Thiet: livelier here

But all the same, Phan Thiet (and even more so Mui Ne) loses to Nha Trang by many criteria:

  • Sea. In Nha Trang, even on the city beach during the season (from April to September), the sea is calm, transparent, without waves. Well, or with small waves occasionally bringing garbage, but in Mui Ne this garbage and these waves are constant, and in Nha Trang it is a temporary phenomenon. And not far from Nha Trang there are paradise beaches from the "bounty" category:,. You can spend all weekends there.
  • Infrastructure. There are not even large shops in Mui Ne where you can buy household items. For everything you need to go to Phan Thiet, which takes time and money (if you don't have your own bike). In Mui Ne there are only small Vietnamese shops like "all in one heap" and a few supermarkets, but the prices are higher than in ordinary shops. There are no hospitals in Mui Ne (only small private clinics), but what am I talking about - there is not even a gas station in Mui Ne! Seriously, to refuel your bike, you need to find a petrol cart outside some cafes. This gasoline is more expensive than at gas stations, and its quality can only be guessed at - any Vietnamese will not miss the opportunity to dilute gasoline for extra profit.

Refueling with chickens on the way to Phan Thiet

There are some pretty bridges in Phan Thiet

  • Sights and places of interest. If in Nha Trang you need to choose what to visit, then in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet you can see everything in 2 days. And spend the rest of the day exclusively on the beach or by the pool. Maybe for someone this is a plus. Of course, you can always find excursions from Mui Ne to other cities.
  • Fun with children... In Mui Ne and Phan Thiet, we found only two entertainments for children: a mini-zoo near Fairy Creek and a children's play area in Lotte Martha in Phan Thiet. For comparison, in Nha Trang for children there are play areas in each shopping center (and theirs), an amusement park, where for 10-15 thousand dongs you can ride any attraction, climb the maze, catch toy fish and go to a 5-D cinema ... There is also Winperl in Nha Trang. And a lot of children's stores. Read our article about.
  • Transport... Of course, there is a local shuttle bus in Mui Ne that runs between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. As a matter of fact, more is not needed there. In Nha Trang, the distances between objects are quite large, but you can get to any place by city bus for 8000 VND ($ 0.4)... And even Zoklet beach, located 50 km from Nha Trang, can be reached by a regular bus for 24,000 VND ($ 1)... I believe that transport in Nha Trang is developed in an acceptable way - it is convenient for both local residents and tourists.

Summing up, we see how much more advantages Nha Trang has over Mui Ne. I understand that there are people who tenderly love MUI ne for peace and quiet, we and ourselves liked him for his peace. But we ourselves would choose Mui Ne only for a short-term vacation, when you just want to relax by the sea or the pool. But not for a busy vacation, and even more so for a long life.

Watch a short video from Mui Ne:

Mui Ne is a wonderful beach holiday in a fishing village surrounded by a riot of greenery. Endless beaches, the cleanest sea, kitesurfing ... True, Russian cafes sober up the idyll, but let's not talk about that. The route from Mui Ne to Phan Thiet and back was definitely experienced by every tourist who had a rest in these parts. Well, I am no exception.

By bus

There are 2 buses from Phan Thiet to Mui Ne, # 1 and # 9. It was route 1 that I came across every time when I went to Phan Thiet, so I know for sure its route from edge to edge. Travel time will take about 40-60 minutes, depending on where to sit and where to get off.

As such, there is no bus station in Mui Ne, so the bus from Phan Thiet reaches the Peace resort, turns around and goes in the opposite direction. The Peace resort is located on the outskirts, but is still considered part of the Mui Ne resort area:

Then the bus goes along the coast, you can take it near the hotels Full Moon Village, Mui Ne Village Resort, MaDam Cuc. Here, there is generally no concept of a stop, where you stop the bus, you sit there, but disembarkation is more complicated. There is a conductor in the cabin, it is to him that you need to pester with stops and, the more often, the more reliable. The drivers and conductors do not know English, and even more so Russian. It would be appropriate to write the name of the place or hotel on a piece of paper and show it to the conductor.

Back to the route. Then the bus, passing Hon Rom, Sandunes Beach Resort on Đường Xuân Thủy, turns onto Đường Nguyễn Hữu Thọ and exits at Huỳnh Thúc Kháng. And then again along the sea through the village of Ham Tien, through numerous hotels and a golf club, the bus enters Phan Thiet. In the city, the most popular stop near the shopping center Co.opmart:

Almost everyone gets off here, but the route does not end there, then the bus follows to the Phan Thiet Railway Station:

Final stop - bus station:

Buses run every 20-30 minutes, sometimes less often, from 5:30 to 20:30.

Buying tickets

The fare is paid to the conductor in the bus.

Price

A trip from edge to edge costs 16,000 dong (0.6 euros), from the center of Mui Ne to the center of Phan Thiet - 13,000 dong (0.5 euros), within Mui Ne - 9,000 dong (0.3 euros), within the beach area - 6,000 dong (0.2 euros). But the conductors give change at their discretion and usually charge 13,000 dong for a ride, it is impossible to explain that you need to drive 1 km.

By car

You can rent a car in Vietnam only with a driver in travel agencies. But to get to Phan Thiet it is easier to take a taxi, the main thing is to bargain.

Outcomes

The most convenient and, one might say, the only way to get from Mui Ne to Phan Thiet is by bus. From my own experience I can say: I have never met a packed bus. There are no other ways to get there, except by sea, but this is already negotiate with the owners of boats and boats.
