Jesus statue, destroyed hotel and other must-see places in Vung Tau. Vacation review in Vung Tau, Vietnam Vung Tau amusement park and cable car

The island's territory is covered with dense tropical forests. Nature and landscapes here have not yet been spoiled by the signs of civilization, therefore, the impression of isolation from modern life is created. A visit to the island gives a complete picture of the diversity of flora and fauna of South Vietnam. Suffice it to say that over a thousand plant species, about a hundred animal species and about one and a half thousand species of marine life are found here.

In the waters between the islands of the archipelago, you can find dugongs - very rare marine mammals that can make sounds and cry like a person. It is the dugongs that are the reason for the emergence of legends about sea mermaids.

From April to November, green turtles come to the island to lay their eggs in the coastal sand. The green (or soup) turtle is the largest of the sea turtle family. Its length can be up to 1.4 meters, and its weight reaches six hundred kilograms. It got its name from the olive green color of the shell. At some point, this species of turtles was on the verge of extinction, but thanks to the creation of a national park, about 60 thousand little turtles are starting their lives on the beaches of Kon Dao.

Thich Ca Phat Dai Temple

Thich Ca Phat Dai is a Buddhist temple located in the coastal Vietnamese city of Vung Tau. The splendor of the complex is represented by a combination of religious buildings and natural landscape. Conventionally, the abode can be divided into three tiers, on the first of which there are well-groomed flower beds, on the second there are temple buildings, and on the third there are numerous sculptural groups depicting scenes from the life of Gautama Buddha - his birth, renunciation of the world, enlightenment, sermons and transition to nirvana.

The total area of the temple is about 6 hectares, the height of the main pagoda is 19 meters. In the latter, various religious events are often held. At the entrance is the main statue of Gautama Buddha, sitting on a lotus, which is about 10 meters high. The white color of the sculpture contrasts perfectly with the variegated green color of the garden that spreads around it.

Thich Ca Phat Dai Temple attracts many tourists and pilgrims from all over the world.

One of the many architectural landmarks of the Vietnamese city of Vung Tau is the Statue of Christ, located on the top of a small mountain. It was erected in 1974 and is currently the largest image of Christ in the Asia region. The height of the structure is 32 meters, and the length of Jesus' hand is about 18.4 meters.

The monument is installed on a huge 4-meter pedestal, next to the statue of Christ there are figures of 12 apostles. Inside the building there is a spiral staircase with 133 steps. The statue of Christ in Vung Tau resembles the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A stone staircase with 800 steps leads to the monument. Every year many tourists come here to enjoy the grandeur of the sculpture. Around it is a luxurious garden, impressive with its lush vegetation.

Individual and group

Vung Tau (Vietnam) is a large city near Ho Chi Minh City. It is considered the oil capital of the country, because there are large refineries there. Among them there is a Russian-Vietnamese concern, which is partly why you can find shops with Russian products in Vung Tau.

Is it possible to relax in Vung Tau?

Vung Tau on the map of Vietnam must be looked for in the southern part. The city is located on the coast and tourists come there to sunbathe on the beaches and swim in the sea. In addition, it is convenient to get to Vung Tau by domestic flights, because the city has its own airport. However, this resort is not very popular with foreign tourists, mainly Vietnamese rest here. Vung Tau is in great demand with them, and in the midst of the beach season it is crowded here.

A city that is the country's oil capital cannot be poor. Accordingly, Vung Tau has a good infrastructure. There are wide equipped streets, well-groomed squares, many beautiful modern buildings. There are no problems with shops and catering establishments in Vung Tau. True, most cafes and restaurants offer only Asian cuisine, but don't tourists go to Vietnam for exotic things? If you prefer European cuisine, the safest place to dine is a pizzeria, they are also present in Vung Tau.

The beaches of Vung Tau are fairly well equipped, as are other infrastructure in the city. Here you can rent a sunbed and an umbrella, there will be a café nearby, and beach vendors stroll along the coast offering souvenirs. Here are the most important beaches in Vung Tau:

    • Bai Chyok (Front Beach, Front Beach). Centrally located, there is a large park nearby, where it is nice to take a walk in the shade of trees if it's too hot.

  • Bai Sao (Back Beach). The longest in the resort, the length is about 8 km. Most of the hotels are concentrated around it.
  • Bai Zau (Silk Beach). Not very popular with vacationers, as it is located away from tourist spots. However, it is closed from the winds, and there are fewer waves.
  • Bai Zya (Pineapple Beach). Also not very crowded and also with a calmer sea near the coast.
  • Long High. This beach stands alone in Vung Tau, because it is located outside the city. You will have to get there by taxi or rented transport (for example, the most popular bike in Vietnam). The road will take about 20 minutes, however, according to most tourists, it is worth it: the beach is the cleanest in the resort.

And cleanliness is, unfortunately, not the quality that distinguishes the beaches of Vung Tau. If you are going to Vietnam to spend most of your time swimming and sunbathing, it is better to choose, for example, Nha Trang or Fukouk. There you can definitely find the cleanest beaches.

The sea in Vung Tau can also be disappointing. Oil production in the region does not contribute to the cleanliness of coastal waters. Of course, no one dumps the waste of the oil industry into the sea, it is prohibited by law, but still the water near the coast cannot boast of purity. In addition, the location of the coastline in Vung Tau provokes the formation of waves. Swimming here is not always comfortable. But lovers of water sports - here! It is guaranteed that you can go windsurfing almost at any time of the year.

There is a staircase in the statue, along which you can climb to the very top, where there are observation platforms.

    • Hai Dang lighthouse. The snow-white building of the lighthouse on a high hill attracts attention in itself. There are observation platforms in the upper part. And next to the lighthouse there is a field with old cannons left over from the time of the capture of this part of Vietnam by the French.

  • Temple of the Reclining Buddha. It is considered one of the most beautiful in the country. The 12-meter Buddha statue is made of wood with intricate carvings. In addition to her, there are many interesting exhibits in the temple: other statues, mosaic canvases, a bell tower.

And if you want to take a break from sightseeing and have some fun, Vung Tau has a large amusement park and a cable car.

The temple is located on the hill of Long Dien Beach, the area is 1000 square meters... It was built in honor of a young girl who was thrown onto the beach by waves over 200 years ago. Her soul has become the keeper of this beach. And this temple is dedicated to her. There are white stone lions at the entrance. There is a wide staircase in front of the temple, and in front of the main gate is the grave of the dead girl.

The temple has seven altars and a statue of a young girl. The grounds are surrounded by beautiful gardens with views of the beach. On the February new moon, a festival is held near the temple, pilgrims from all over Vietnam gather here, they pray for a successful fishing year. Boats, which are decorated with candles, gather on the water. The spectacle is incredible and unforgettable.

From the statue of Jesus Christ, you can see the small island of Honba. At low tide, you can walk to the island on your own. At the top of the island is the Temple of the Woman, which was founded in 1881.

It can be difficult to get to the lighthouse on your own, but this attraction is just a must-see while in Vung Tau. In order not to look for a way to the lighthouse, the easiest way is to resort to the help of guides or taxi drivers. It is difficult to climb the hill to the lighthouse on foot or by bike, the best option is to take a car. The lighthouse was built when the Nguyen dynasty ruled. Nowadays, the lighthouse does not work, but earlier it worked at the expense of coconut oil.

The second name is Niet Bat Tinh Sa. It is one of the largest in the country. It is located on Malaya Gora. The temple is decorated with a reclining Buddha statue and a bronze bell. The temple has a real Buddhist atmosphere. After visiting Vung Tau, you should definitely visit this temple!

This is a monastery located in a beautiful park. To get to it, you need to climb the high stairs. There are a large number of dogs in the perimeter of the monastery, but the territory itself is beautiful and well-groomed. There are statues and various trees in the park. It will not be difficult to find the monastery, it is located near the main road on the embankment.

For those wishing to relax further from the tourist center of Vung Tau, the Long Hai resort is nearby. Temple on the island

I can give only the most positive review about this place in Vung Tau! I liked this attraction the most, despite the fact that we did not get there due to the strong tide. The fact is that the temple called Hon Ba ("woman's island") is located on a small island not far from the beach. It is not difficult to find it - it is located almost opposite the huge statue of Christ. If you drive along the embankment, you will certainly notice it.

A neat temple has been built on the island, which can be reached on foot during low tide or by renting a boat. From a distance it looks somehow mysterious, colorful and unusual - there is a temple, but there is no road to it!

Giant Jesus statue on the mountain

In principle, it is not so gigantic when compared to the famous statue of Christ erected in Rio de Janeiro. You can get to it by walking up the stairs. Transport can be left in the parking lot opposite. But we deliberately did not go there, because it was such an eerie scorching heat that it would be an overwhelming test for us to climb the mountain for another 15 minutes. We decided to admire this piece of architecture from afar.

The statue, about 30 meters high, was erected not so long ago - in 1974 on the site of a lighthouse, which was once built by the French.

If you feel like it, get up. Then, please share your impressions! We are also interested in what kind of view the city opens from there?

Lighthouse

Also a famous landmark of Vung Tau. Finding it is not so easy, you cannot do without a map and tips from local residents. It is best to ask taxi drivers, or immediately take a taxi. You can walk to the lighthouse, but the path will be very long and uphill all the time. You can ride a bike, but it will also take a long time. The ideal option is to take a taxi. We went up on our motorcycle, and he barely pulled the two of us for a while.

The lighthouse stands on Small Mountain, was built a long time ago, during the reign of the last imperial dynasty of Nguyen. Interestingly, the lighthouse was initially powered by coconut oil! Now it no longer works, but tourists come to the lighthouse in Vung Tau every day.

Frankly speaking, there is nothing remarkable about this lighthouse, it cannot be compared with the lighthouse on the Ke Ga (Phan Thiet) island.

On the way to the lighthouse, pay attention to the original cafes located on the side of the mountain. There are hammocks instead of chairs! On the way back from the lighthouse, we stopped at one of these cafes, took a bottle of green tea and fell into our hammocks to take a half hour nap. There was a wonderful view of the city!

House of pure Nirvana

One of the largest temples in all of Vietnam! The house of pure nirvana or Niet Bat Tinh Sa is located on the western slope of the Little Mountain. By the way, it was erected in the 20th century, in 1971. The temple is distinguished by a huge statue of the reclining Buddha and a bronze five-ton bell.

An interesting temple, very unusual thanks to the mosaics laid out on the floor. In general, when you enter Buddhist temples, you always feel some special atmosphere of spiritual purity. "House of Pure Nirvana" is one of those special temples that must be visited!

Truc Lam Tinh Xa Pagoda

An interesting place, which is located next to the road that runs along the embankment. If you go from the direction of Ho Chi Minh City, it will be about three kilometers, before reaching the statue of Christ. To be honest, we never figured out that it was a temple, or just a park, but we liked it there. Quite an unusual structure for Vietnam. As far as I remember, we have not met anything similar.

Quan-AM Tinh-Vien Monastery

To get to this wonderful park, you need to climb the high stairs. Apparently, the larger the staircase leading to the Buddha, the greater the chances of achieving spiritual enlightenment. It's hard to climb in the heat, and at first we didn't even really want to go there, but a monk caught us and almost forced us to get up. I must say, not in vain!

The territory of the monastery is large, well-groomed, however, there are many dogs. One of them raised a terrible howl when she saw us, probably thought that we would harm her puppies. Even at some point she tried to bite me, but the monk calmed her down.

You will not regret visiting this attraction. On the territory of the monastery there is a beautiful park with various figurines and traditional bonsai trees.

This monastery is also not difficult to find - it is also located on the embankment, next to the main road. It is impossible not to notice.

Many of Vung Tau's attractions are located either along the main road or on the slopes of the mountains, so they are hard to miss. In addition to interesting places for tourists to visit, there is even a golf course on the east coast where anyone can take training courses. Here is such a small calm resort town!

If they asked me if I would come to Vung Tau again, I would definitely say no. Why? Probably because there is nothing more attractive for me there. We looked at everything that could be seen. If you absolutely want to go on vacation to this town, you will not regret it. But be aware that vacation here is not for spoiled tourists!
