National natural park Orlovskoe Polesie

The National Park "Orlovskoe Polesie" is located in the Znamensky and Khotynetsky districts of the Oryol region.
The park was founded in 1994 - the area is 77.7 thousand hectares. In the north and west, the park borders on the Kaluga and Bryansk regions.
The territory of the high hilly plain is a valley cut by ravines and gullies, with an absolute height above sea level of 220-250 m.
In the park of natural systems, its island deciduous forests with their characteristic flora and fauna, there are numerous streams and springs.
Forests cover 33,000 hectares - this is the largest area of forests in the Oryol region. There are 900 plant species in the park, of which 23 species are listed in the Red Data Book.
Bear onion (wild garlic) - Allium ursinum
Numerous species of owls live in the park (Upland and small owls, gray owls, long-eared owls), as well as diurnal birds of prey.
Among the rare species of birds, the snake eagle is noted.
"Orlovskoe Polesie" is a unique corner of nature, open to the public at any time of the year.
There are memorable places associated with the life and work of Turgenev (the city of Lgov).
