Route 1 "Around the Kremlin"

And yet another Georgy - Zhukov - after several centuries did a lot to save not only Moscow, but the whole country from the Nazis. For this, a monument was erected to him not far from the Resurrection Gate.

The temple has two names. Most often it is called the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed, because the temple was built over the grave of an unusual person - the holy fool Basil. The second name of the temple is the Cathedral of the Intercession on the Moat, or the Intercession Cathedral. Why "on the Moat"? Because at the very walls of the Kremlin there used to be a deep ditch. Why "Pokrova"? Because in 1552, on the feast day of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, the troops of Ivan the Terrible took the Tatar city of Kazan.

From the inside, St. Basil's Cathedral resembles a medieval castle with many rooms. The secret is that ten small churches are hidden here. Each of them bears the name of that saint or holiday on the day of which the most important battles for Kazan were fought.

Not far from St. Basil's Cathedral, Varvarka Street begins. And where did the strange name come from - Varvarka? Maybe barbarians lived here? No. Take a closer look with your child to the plaque on the wall of the temple, which stands at the very beginning of the street. This is the temple of the Barbara the Great Martyr, which gave the name to the street. The merchants who lived in Kitay-gorod considered Saint Barbara as their patroness.

Alexander Pushkin has nothing to do with the Museum of Fine Arts

The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is as well-known symbol of Moscow as the Kremlin. The history of the temple is amazing. In the middle of the 19th century, a church stood on this site, on the walls of which thousands of names of officers who died in the war with Napoleon were inscribed. It was a memorial temple, it looked almost the same as the one you see today.

House 12 (Prechistenka str., 12/2) is a museum of Alexander Pushkin. Previously, the noble family of the Seleznevs lived here, which is reminiscent of the coat of arms preserved on the facade. Malaya Ordynka will lead to the Tretyakovskaya metro station. Walk a little to the left along the Ordynsky blind alley - and you will find yourself in a small square, next to which many interesting sights have accumulated. And the first is house 7 in Lavrushinsky lane. It is called the Writers' House: many famous writers of our country lived here. And next to the house is the Inspiration fountain. Ask your child what the word means. Look closely at the images on the fountain. What if you want to paint a picture? This is inspiration!

The main treasure of the Demidovs' estate is one of the most beautiful Moscow fences. It was created three centuries ago in the Ural factories, which were owned by the owners of this house. Whom did the masters portray on this fence? Asks the child to find butterflies on the fence.
