Exactly two years ago, and I, together with my loved ones, on a flight from Krasnodar (with refueling in Pakistani Lahore), ended up in Nha Trang, having paid for a 2-week tour, about 30 thousand rubles per person. I liked this country and liked it so much, then in November of the same year I again went to Vietnam, but for an independent acquaintance with its southern regions and neighboring Cambodia.

The demand for rest in Nha Trang has decreased, but nevertheless remained, therefore, I would like to share my impressions of my stay at this resort.

What to see in Nha Trang

You can explore the city on your own without ordering a sightseeing tour of the city. I did it twice. The first time alone (while my "fellow travelers" basked on the beach) and on foot. Armed with a map of the city, I moved from one attraction to another, and in 4 hours I walked around all of them. It was not possible to ask the locals for directions, although I tried: they smiled, nodded and did not understand anything. The second time already with their own people, who, after listening to my stories, also wanted spectacles. But now we moved exclusively by taxi. By the way, I think this is the most optimal form of transport for this city. The cars are all new, the drivers are in uniform, the payment is according to the meter, the prices, at that rate, did not exceed 100 rubles per trip.

So, the first point is the Catholic Cathedral of St. Mary.

The cathedral is active, moreover, it is the residence of the bishop of Nha Trang. But in Vietnam, according to various estimates, from 5 to 8 million people consider themselves to be the Christian Catholic Church, up to 10% of the population. And especially Catholicism is popular in the south of Vietnam. The ashes of people from the exhumed Catholic cemetery of Nha Trang are buried in a niche of one of the walls of the cathedral - in 1988 the city needed territory for the construction of a railway station.

This temple was originally built at the end of the 19th century, but in a different place. A very strong storm destroyed the once high pagoda and then the temple was rebuilt, but already on a high mountain. There is a fairly well-maintained and well-groomed area next to the pagoda. It looks a lot like a park.

To get to the main religious sites of Nha Trang, you need to climb the stairs above the pagoda building.

What we saw is impressive! Climbing up to the statue, you can sit, catch your breath, slowly fighting off the obsessive sellers of every little souvenir. By the way, the entrance to the pagoda and a walk through its territory are all free. For locals and tourists alike. I heard that all sorts of nimble personalities are spinning there, offering to buy entrance tickets. They didn’t come up to me, they looked and, probably, thought: "Well, let's stay away from him, he is so big." A small cemetery was seen behind the statue.

In the Middle Ages, in the central and southern parts of modern Vietnam there was a kingdom of the Chams (or Chams), who professed Hinduism, were engaged in sea trade and sea robbery. They controlled the sea routes that passed next to their territory. The flourishing of the Cham culture fell on the 7-12 centuries, it was then that these towers were built by Po Nagar.

This is an iconic Hindu building. Now it consists of four towers, originally there were 10. The largest tower is dedicated to the goddess Po Nagar (according to the Cham legend, she taught people crafts and agriculture and was the goddess of fertility). The rest of the towers were dedicated to various Hindu gods. The fact that the Cham people disappeared under the fierce wind of history makes these towers especially valuable. The time has come and the "lovely" neighbors of the Chams - the Vieta and the Khmers - destroyed the Cham kingdom. And the very first day after arrival in Nha Trang, showing the taxi driver the address of the company, we arrived at their office. A very attractive young Russian girl offered us several excursions to choose from. We have selected three of them, each for one day. Pick up from the hotel in the morning. Delivered back in the evening. All day long they ride, entertain, feed with lunch. The cost of one excursion did not exceed $ 30 per person. It is clear that everything there is made for the entertainment of tourists, but I liked it. The program of the stay was well thought out, everything was calm and comfortable. First we saw the Yangbei waterfall.

We swam in the river, where small fish very boldly stuck to our lower extremities and ate something there. Then they swam in bowls with hot mineral water. We had lunch (except for the crocodile, cellars and pieces of fried ostrich).

Firstly, these are products made of crocodile, ostrich and python leather. Wallets, handbags, belts, and maybe even shoes.

The Vietnamese have mastered the technologies of dressing such leather and making products from them. But, for example, in Cambodia they do not know how. All this is sold there, but brought from Vietnam and much more expensive. There is an Ostrich and Crocodile brand store in Nha Trang.

The prices there were normal. For 2 years now I have a crocodile wallet from that store. And even if there is not a lot of money, but how beautiful it is!

You must definitely buy all kinds of balms and ointments in Vietnam. You can directly at the pharmacy or in company stores. Well, everyone knows the "star", but there are more interesting drugs. For example, Cobrotex joint ointment. Everything that was brought from Nha Trang was in great demand from relatives and friends. A few months later I brought more from Ho Chi Minh City, already by order of specific people. All this is not expensive.

What else to bring from Nha Trang? Maybe more pearls. A very large offer. But this issue must be sorted out so as not to fall for a fake. I'm not an assistant here, it didn't interest me.
