Not many kids love theaters, but that's mainly because they haven't seen really interesting and good performances! When it comes to performances for children, Lviv has something to please.

We visited her in March 2017 during our 3-day trip to Lviv.

The Secret Pharmacy Interactive Museum is located in the same building as the existing pharmacy.

You can sign up for a tour through the website or on site.

This is what a pharmacy looks like from the street.

We were a company - 4 children and 3 adults, from outsiders there was a dad with two children. The age range of the children was from 6 to 14. Everyone was interested. We adults liked it too.

I will not tell all the details, otherwise you will not be interested in visiting it :).

I will share contacts, photos and small comments.

Photos and impressions of visiting the "Secret Pharmacy"

Taking pictures during the tour is allowed, video filming is prohibited.

"Secret Pharmacy" is small in size - there are two small rooms. Above at the entrance with "jars-bottles" and below in the dungeon.

The excursion itself lasts 40-50 minutes + time is given to take pictures, buy souvenirs. Time flies by very quickly.

During the excursion, there is a combination of different formats - a guide's story, video, experiments, tasting of the "pharmacy elixir of happiness and longevity." Interesting and a bit magical :)

In the beginning, we heard a little about the history of the museum, dishes for medicines. It was interesting to look at these jars and bottles :)

Then they went down to the dungeon, where they passed most of excursions.

There is a magical atmosphere here :)

As for watching a video during an excursion, the attitude here is ambiguous. When I found out before the start that there would be a video, I was a little worried about whether the children would be bored.

In the last minutes, I noticed that the first messengers of boredom in children began to appear. But the video tour just ended and the interactive continued further, which made me happy.

In principle, the video was interesting and fit into the general idea of the excursion. The only thing is, I would cut it. I would leave the most-most, so that it was informative, but at the same time, so that the children did not start to get bored.

I liked the excursion, it was interesting to look at the interior, entourage, souvenirs and there was a pleasant "aftertaste" from the time spent in the "Secret Pharmacy".

Souvenirs deserve special attention. Even if you are not going to buy them, take the time to look at them and read the labels.

There are pills for happiness, love, good study here. Soap for blondes, bribe-takers, politicians, after spree, etc. Cups that fill drinks with medicinal properties and uplift the mood.

I think the inscriptions will amuse you. We approached the creation of souvenirs creatively :)

Most souvenirs cost in the range of 30-70 UAH

You could have been to Lviv at least a dozen times, but if you are traveling there with a child, keep in mind that your favorite routes will not be of interest to him. Narrow streets, exquisite architecture, spiers of churches and extravagant cafes - this only takes your breath away, and for the child, choose those paths where he will get his impressions. We trampled them with our four-year-old daughter.

So, at your disposal a weekend for 2-3 days, of course, start it in the center of Lviv. There before Opera House a New Year tree has already been installed on Svoboda Avenue, and a Christmas market is located nearby, where you can learn how to make toys, eat caramel apples, meet St. Nicholas and listen to carols. Ice sculptures will soon appear in the center, and angels will descend from the Town Hall and a nativity scene will be played.

Day 1: Work at the chocolate factory

After a run in the center, given the snowy weather, I want to warm up. Tea in a thermos no longer helps, so we pause in the Lviv chocolate workshop. We take coffee for ourselves (from 20 UAH), and for our daughter - a chocolate cocktail (from 40 UAH). But the child quickly finds something else to do. First, it does not stick to the glass, behind which edible bells, angels, shoes and Santa Clauses (from UAH 56) appear in front of our eyes at the chocolate factory, and then, getting into the store, he demands to taste every candy.

Considering that there are fifty varieties of them, and they cost from 8 UAH per piece, it is not a cheap pleasure. But it is much more interesting for a child and more economical for parents to send a little tourist to work in a factory. There he will be given a chocolatier's hat and apron and shown how to make candy. At the disposal will be filling, melted chocolate and various powders (sesame seeds, rice balls, nuts, coconut, strawberry sugar), and then the child will mix everything as he wants. The output should be ten chocolates on a chocolate bar. All this can be taken with you or you can drink it with cocoa, which is given to the masters.

Although there are five such "chocolate girls" in Lviv, master classes are held only in a coffee shop on st. Sichovykh Sagittarius, 5, and you need to book participation as much as a week in advance. It lasts an hour and a half and costs UAH 164.

Day 2: Hide and Seek in Three Oaks

Having warmed up and gorged on the "hormone of joy", we go for a walk in the snow-covered park. Franko - it is enough to walk to the end of Sichovykh Striltsov Street. This is one of the oldest parks in Lviv: it was founded in the 16th century, its area is slightly more than 10 hectares, and even earlier there was a plantation of local merchants Scholz-Wolfovich. Then the park for some time was even at the disposal of the Jesuit monks, who built a brewery there. But the most interesting thing is that in this park there is an old gazebo from 1835 and three hefty three-hundred-year-old oaks. So you can play with your child, trying to find these "oldies" together, or hide and seek, because the oaks are huge. And then go to the playground, where there are towns, slides and swings.

The park is full of kids, which means there will be a snowball fight, so grab a second pair of mittens. And to keep your feet dry and warm, put shoe covers on your toes.

Day 3: Eat pluck in khatynki

A trip to Shevchenko Hai - a museum of architecture and life under open air- takes almost the whole day. But it will be especially surprising for city children to see old churches, a smithy, a school, a sawmill, mills and khatynks from different regions of Western Ukraine, in which Hutsuls, Lemkos, Podolyans, Bukovyns lived two hundred or more years ago ... But it is even more interesting to see what is outside the door of the hatynok. Opening up! And there is a burning stove, and a cradle with a doll, and gliders, and chests with clothes and decorations ...

One of the houses is looked after by Mrs. Alla, a native Lviv woman. She just baked a kolobok and a mountain of pluckings (tortillas made of flour): “It was the most popular dish among the poor. They went to work in the fields - they ate them there with onions, and on holidays, so that they would be a delicacy, they would smear them with honey. " You can buy nips (5 UAH), and just play with a kolobok. Next is the village school. In the corner there is a bunch of rods, which were given to the mischievous people, and the clever girls will be offered to make a reeled doll, straw amulets, candles (master class - from UAH 30). And before wooden church, which is two hundred years old, still on the street you can hear the smell of incense - when it was built, the logs were rubbed with wax and incense. Another curiosity of Guy is the huge black raven Karl from the breed that lives up to three hundred years and can talk. We were secretly told that it is better not to anger him - he will swear - the local boys have taught him. But if you offer apples or seeds and ask: "Will you?", Then you can hear a censorship answer. Guy's mini zoo is home to sheep, goats and horses, and you can feed them too. You can ride horses (5 minutes for 50 UAH).

As close as possible to the museum (entrance - 20 UAH) only minibus No. 39 travels (through the center). And it's better to get out in the morning, otherwise a granary castle awaits you in the khatyns. Dress warmly and stock up on tea, because there are only three pit stops in the 60 hectare hay. And everything is in the open air. There is only one toilet. Near the smithy you can eat mushroom soup and Cossack kulesh (from 30 UAH), drink herbal tea (15 UAH).

You can take an ice cake (a plate for skating) with you - there are very steep slides there.

Day 4: painting on gingerbread

You can also take away delicious impressions from Lviv, which will come in handy as a gift to your relatives. For example, in the gingerbread workshop "Yurashki" (Krakovskaya str., 14) there is a master class for children where they can paint gingerbread. Dressed in a cap and an apron, the chefs will be offered to choose a figurine - it can be a house, a man or a star, and then they will give several colors of glaze in bags and show how to draw on gingerbread. The glaze, although acidic in color, is edible, it has been tested, so do not worry if the child begins to lick his fingers or even draw on himself, like on a gingerbread.

The master class can take longer than an hour, because you can take the gingerbread with you, but if you do not wait until the icing is dry, then all the arts are soft-boiled. If you want to paint one gingerbread, the master class will cost 40 UAH, and if one large and three small ones, then 60 UAH. Plus you get a caramel drink.

You do not need to sign up in advance, but you may have to wait for a group of people who wish.

Day 5: Go to the dolls

The winter repertoire of the Lviv Puppet Theater is special. The program includes: a meeting with St. Nicholas, carols, closer to the New Year - with Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, round dances and a performance. But even if on your arrival days there will be "Pinocchio" or "Puss in Boots" on the poster - go boldly, the performances are good (in different years the theater received awards at international festivals).

And there are also very interesting chairs in the hall: if you turn them over, they become high, so that the children can see everything. At the theater, which this year celebrated its 70th anniversary (the building itself was built back in 1912 as the Chamber of Craftsmen), there is a museum of dolls. There are kept rare dolls, posters, mini-copies of the theater ...

It is better to buy tickets immediately upon arrival - they are taken apart quickly. The prices are ridiculous - 20 UAH, but keep in mind: a ticket is also needed for a child of any age. And go to the museum for free.

Advice. How to choose a hotel in Lviv

The hotel should be chosen according to the principle of the ring - the larger the radius from the center, the cheaper the price. The main thing is that it is adjacent to large streets and avenues, from which you can get to any part of the city. In a 15-minute walk from the center, we rented an economy class room in December for 250 UAH for three.

Where to have a snack, it is better to ask the locals - sellers, drivers - who will better orientate where it is cheaper and tastier. Favorite place Lviv residents - "Mistechko" (Mentsinsky St., 12). The average check for three is 150 UAH.

If you want to move quickly, then the tram is not worth choosing. He is always in traffic jams: firstly, snowfalls impede movement, and, secondly, car drivers do not miss the opportunity to drive on the rails.
