Kaliningrad International Airport Khrabrovo is located 20 kilometers north-east of the central part of the city near the village of the same name. It is a kind of transshipment base for airlines that fly between Russia and European countries. This is the only airport in Kaliningrad that connects the westernmost and most isolated region Russian Federation with the rest of the country.

Brief chronology of the development of the airport "Kaliningrad Khrabrovo"
The airport and all the property were transferred to the ownership of the USSR only in 1945. Only in 1961, a united squadron began to be based on the territory of the airport and aircrafts shipping companies.
Since 1977, the airport "Kaliningrad Khrabrovo" began to service passenger aircraft of the Tu-134 type. Two years later, a new terminal was built, which made it possible to carry out maintenance a large number clients. In 1988, the airport began receiving Tu-154 aircraft.
In 1992, Kaliningrad Khrabrovo became an independent enterprise and separated from the Vnukovo association. A year later, the first regular flight of international importance was carried out.

In the same year, the runway was reconstructed and the navigation equipment was updated. The renewal of repairs began only in the fall of 2014. As part of the new project, it was planned to extend the runway to 3.5 kilometers. The platform was also expanded.

This happened on October 1, 2008, when the Boeing 737 airliner carried out emergency landing to the runway without landing gear.
