In this sense, the Qawra Palace hotel is 100% suitable. We arrived at 8 am. The check-in went very quickly and the baggage was received just as quickly. It takes no more than 30 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel. So we were at the hotel at 9 am. Alas, someone was lucky, they were settled earlier. We were unlucky and we received the keys to the room only at 14-00. Back in St. Petersburg, I specifically stipulated that the room should be overlooking the sea. When we entered the room we were not that surprised, amazed. The window overlooked neighboring hotel... And he is across a single-lane road! No, there was also a sea view, especially if you go out onto the balcony and lean over the railing!)))) But this is not the most unpleasant thing. The room had an eerie smell of old age, mold, which is called the "smell of a chest". I had to go and talk to the manager. The number was changed. From there was all the beauty, at a glance!
The hotel itself is quite old. There is a damp smell on the lower floors. All two weeks that we were there, an air conditioner pipe was leaking in the lobby. Sometimes the maids fenced off the puddle with signs, sometimes they put in rags, but apparently they didn't get to fix their hands. In general, a hotel for unpretentious guests. A safe in the room is available for an additional fee. Two weeks cost 23 euros. TV remote for a deposit. There is a hairdryer, but it's in an unexpected place: a drawer. The hotel has an ironing room. It seems to be worth 2.5 euros. In some rooms, besides English sockets, there is a euro. We only had English in our room, so we had to buy an adapter. Lamps in the room are VERY dim. For people with not very good eyesight, it will be problematic to do something in the evening.
We only took breakfast, although the hotel is all inclusive. Breakfasts are ordinary, however, in one shift there was always burnt bacon and tomatoes. Not burnt, but charred. One day, apparently by accident, the bacon was slightly burnt. the cook must have thought about it. But the next shift has already improved! The bacon was charred!)))
The hotel guests are mainly British pensioners, with a small splash of retirees of other nationalities. There is nothing for young people to do there. From entertainment only dancing in the evening by the pool. Very sluggish. Oh, they would have seen how our pensioners dance somewhere in Gelendzhik to the songs of "Gems" and Pugacheva!
The hotel is located in quiet place... But to the promenade of Bugibba, where the evening life takes place at an unhurried pace of about 15 minutes. To St. Paul's Bay from the force of 25 minutes. There are many cafes and restaurants around. With one but! Malta is a Mediterranean country with siesta. During the day, almost all cafes, except those at the hotels, are closed. They open after 17. But on the waterfront cafes are open in the afternoon. There are a lot of eateries, shops. I really liked THE Plum Tree restaurant. Cozy place. Very friendly and humorous hostess. Well, if you want to eat cheaply, go to the Bugibba embankment. There is the first or second cafe under a large green tent. You will not get through. Cheap, tasty. By the way, the restaurant at the hotel, the one at the entrance to the hotel, is quite good. In the evening, this is the only place where there is a queue. I can recommend the supermarket "Trollis", and the cheapest supermarket on Aura Square, right opposite the pharmacy! It is small, we passed by 10 times without noticing.
Getting from Aura is also very convenient. Buses 12 and 31 go to Valletta. But 31 goes by a roundabout route, across Mosta. Therefore, it is more convenient to go to Valletta at 12, but to return all the same at 31. At 12 there are crowds of people. In Most, as everyone already understood, goes 31. To Mdina and Rabat goes X3. It also goes straight to the airport terminal. And finally, you can only get to Marsaxlok with a transfer. To Valletta, and there are buses 81, 85.
Now about the main thing. There is no beach as such. Except for the concrete platform 10 by 40 meters. Sun beds and umbrellas are paid there. Two euros per unit. Most prefer sun loungers by the pool. We sunbathe there, and just go down the stairs to swim, and here it is, the purest and most transparent sea.
Near wild beaches... They are also just concrete platforms. Unfortunately, the sun from this side of the Aura hides behind the hotel already at 4 o'clock. But if you are not lazy, then walk 100 meters along the embankment! There is a luxurious place, secluded. And the sun is there until 7. At 7 in Malta it gets dark!
