Tram

The Naples tram is a 10 km long line system with only 3 routes.

Neapolitan tram network has a long history, which began back in 1875, when the first horse tram passed through the city.

Schemes of the movement of trams in Naples on the website of the transport management company ANM. Neapolitan trams require standardized tickets valid for all modes of transport in Naples and the surrounding area.

Metro and railway transport

No. 5 and No. 7 - suburban railway lines, ground and partly shallow. No. 5 is directed from the center to the west, and No. 7 is a circular one, partially uses a section of line No. 5.

The first thing that interests every foreigner who arrives in Naples is how to get from the airport to the train station, port, hotel or just the central part of the city. There are two options: taxi and bus. The second is more preferable for the price. Travel time takes about 20 minutes to the Central Station, about 35 minutes to the port.

Alibus buses run daily from 5.45 am to 11.40 pm. The interval of movement is approximately 15 minutes. You can buy a ticket either from the driver (it will cost 4 euros), or at the "Sun Store" kiosk located at the airport (it will cost 3 euros).

By the way, this option will be very convenient for those who want to immediately get on our daily Sightseeing tour of Naples, since Alibus buses have 2 stops in the city itself - at the central station at Piazza Garibaldi and at Piazza Municipio, from where our sightseeing tour starts. excursion.

Buses from the 3S company also run daily, but on a different route - the travel time is significantly increased. The 3S also lacks air conditioning, which makes travel much less comfortable. However, the fare is also cheaper - only 1 euro.

The bus stop is located next to the exit from the arrivals terminal and is marked with a corresponding sign so it will be easy to find it.

What to ride in Naples itself?

Taxi

Not the most convenient option because the narrow streets of Naples are not meant for traffic flow, which regularly passes (well, or at least tries) on them. If you get into the wrong time, you can stand in traffic for a long time. In general, a taxi is an affordable form of transport: the minimum trip on weekdays will cost 4.5 euros, the holiday rate is 6 euros.

Neapolitan taxi uses 2 options for calculating the cost - by the meter or at a preset tariff for the most popular destinations... The second is usually more profitable for a tourist and always more comfortable, since you know in advance how much the trip will cost.

Buses

There are many routes, you can get from any part of the city to the center and back, but the problem with traffic on the roads is also relevant for this type of public transport. If you are not afraid to be late and you have time for a long trip, the bus is a convenient option.

Main routes:

Napoli - Avellino. The end of the route is at Piazza Garibaldi, buses leave once every 20 minutes on weekdays, once every 60 minutes on holidays.

Napoli - Caserta. The final stop is also at Piazza Garibaldi, buses run from early morning until late. The bus stops at Capodichino Airport.

Napoli - Salerno. The final stop is at the port, the bus runs once every 30 minutes on weekdays and once every 120 minutes on holidays and weekends.

Napoli - Amalfi. Dispatched daily.

Napoli - Mondragone- Bahia Domizia. Runs every half hour from very early in the morning until 22.00 from Piazza Garibaldi.

Tram and trolleybus

In Naples, trolleybuses operate on 8 routes, of which only 3 are urban, and the rest are suburban. Tram lines also do not cover the city very widely. Their total length is 10 kilometers, and the route is 3.

Underground

Opened in the 90s of the XX century. The metro is very young, so there are few lines, only 2. They are called, however, not in order - №1 and №6.

The first line has 17 stations and connects the central station and the center of Naples in general with the northern end of the city. The sixth line has only 4 stations located in the west of Naples.

However, it is worth going down to the Neapolitan metro not for the speed of movement, but in order to see the beauty of Pozemka, which is known far beyond Europe as a wonderful museum of modern art.

The Neapolitan funicular, which is essentially a separate mode of transport, is also usually referred to the metro. Recall that Naples is located on a hilly area, which is why funicular services are so popular. 16 stations, distributed over 4 lines, serve about 60,000 passengers daily. The funicular operates from 6.30 / 7 am to 00.30 / 22.00 pm. The Chiaia and Centrale lines, which carry the greatest load, open first and close later.

In addition, Naples has a system commuter trains, where lines 3 and 4 refer to the Chirkumvesuvian system. From the name it is obvious that using these branches of the railway, you can get to Vesuvius and the dead Pompeii. And in Sorrento if you don't have enough experience on the first two stops.
