Routes in Pavlovsky Park. Excursions to Pavlovsk. Thank you very much for the wonderful excursion

For several years we have been trying to meet the golden autumn in a picturesque park. Finally, this year we were able to carry out old dream by going to Pavlovsky Park on the right day!

We got acquainted with this park many years ago at a wedding with friends. But we walked there quite a bit, without really looking at anything around, except for the newlyweds. 🙂 But they clearly remembered that very friendly squirrels are found in the park, which do not have to be lured for a long time in the hope of feeding.

Therefore, when choosing a place for a walk this time, we gave our preference to Pavlovsky Park: the place is beautiful, the entrance is not expensive (100 rubles per adult, the child passed for free), and even contact proteins.
The road took us 1.20, there were a lot of cars! Moreover, there were a lot of people in the park too! The people, like us, were eager to take country walks.

We immediately had a problem with the entrance ... The park covers an area of about 600 hectares! We indicated in the navigator the official address (Sadovaya st., 20), where the Grand Palace is located and, most likely, the administration of the museum complex. In addition, it was there that we entered the park for the very first time (as it turned out later). However, as we approached the given point, we counted 2 more entrances, and a little further a third. All are equipped with cash desks and turnstiles. We did not manage to determine which of them was the main or the front one.

Therefore, a tip: before going to Pavlovsky Park for a walk, take a look at the map and choose the area of the park that you would like to get around. This will help you determine the right input.

We can schematically suggest you the following routes through Pavlovsky Park (the duration of the walk is about 2-3 hours):

So, again, we went at The Grand Palace... From it goes the main alley (Triple linden alley) to the square where the Memorial to the memory of the victims of the revolution is located.

On the right side you can see the Aviary, the Labyrinth and the Rossi Pavilion; on the left side - the exposition Big circles and Rossi's Pavilion.

If you go to the right of the Memorial, then you will come to another entrance (aka exit). Its value lies in the fact that it has eateries (by the way, the pies were delicious!) And souvenir shops. If you go to the left of the Memorial, then you will go to another area of the park.

After a bite, we went to the left. 🙂 There are also paths directly, but the nearest marks on the map (the island and the column of Princess Lieven, the Oleniy Bridge and the Rose Pavilion Ponds) are far enough away.

By the way, be careful: carriages with horses are passing along the Triple Linden Alley and to the left.

But there, not far from the Dairy House (where the cafe is now located), we met the first squirrels. With all the variety of forage (acorns, cones, etc.), the squirrels willingly devoured and hid hazelnuts and walnuts. There was less interest in seeds and almonds.

But, for good reason, it was worth going to the Parents Monument (dedicated to the parents of Maria Feodorovna, wife of Paul I), and then go along the Slavyanka River. Then on the left we would see the Air Theater, and on the right - the Cast-Iron Bridge and the Temple of Friendship (dedicated to Catherine II).

Then we went out to the Great Stone Staircase, looked at the Black Bridge and the Humpbacked Bridge, and returned along the Great Palace to the entrance. But if we walked a little further along the river, we would look at the Cold Bath and the Bridge of the Centaurs, we would look into our own garden and the Pavilion of the Three Graces.

In our opinion, such a route (which took us more than 3 hours) is perfect for the first acquaintance with Pavlovsky Park! And if you still manage to get on an excursion to the palace itself (we did not go, because the child was already tired and could not stand the excursion), then it will be just fine.

By the way, in addition to squirrels, this time we managed to hand-feed the birds as well! The same walnuts in the open palm were taken by tits and nuthatches (as it turned out later).

For the convenience of moving, you can rent an electric car or use a sightseeing train.

And finally, a few more photos of the beautiful autumn Pavlovsky Park!

If you have already visited Pavlovsky Park and you have something to tell, leave your feedback in the comments!

  • Pavlovsky Park is rightfully considered one of the finest examples of landscape art and is one of the largest landscape parks in Europe (its area is over 600 hectares). But not only famous park attracts the attention of numerous guests of St. Petersburg and local residents. An unusually harmonious combination architectural structures included in palace and park ensemble, with the picturesque surroundings of the Slavyanka River, touched up by the skillful hands of architects and masters of landscape art, amazes and enchants. The proportionality of artificial buildings and natural landscapes, the consonance of the secret strings of the human soul of the entire Pavlovsky ensemble is the merit of both talented creators and members of the imperial family, namely, Paul I and his wife Maria Feodorovna, who not only put their souls into their favorite country estate, but and spent the happiest years of their lives here.

The park amazes with its size and separate areas, completely different in character and composition, and all together is one organic whole. A whole day is not enough to see the whole of Pavlovsk, because only the path from the main entrance (from railway station) to the Pavlovsk Palace takes about half an hour at a leisurely pace. What about those who came to St. Petersburg for only a week and cannot afford to set aside a few days to explore Pavlovsky Park alone?

Recently, visitors to the park have the opportunity to save precious time and rest tired legs, having seen some of the sights, comfortably sitting on the benches of an excursion locomotive equipped with an audio guide. The cost of such a service is low: an adult ticket costs 300 rubles, and a child ticket costs 150 rubles. The excursion, which takes place in the areas of Bolshaya Zvezda, New and Old Sylvia, is accompanied by musical and poetic works, one way or another connected with the Pavlovsk palace and park ensemble.

The train departs from the Pavlovsk Palace, smart and majestic in its yellow and white decoration. It was created by C. Cameron at the end of the 18th century, and then expanded and modified by architects V. Brenna, A. Voronikhin and J. Quarenghi. From main square in front of the palace, the train will proceed along Triple Linden Alley, which is the leading axis of the palace part of the park, and will take passengers directly to the Aviary pavilion, or the Birdhouse, where under Maria Fedorovna greenhouses with exotic flowers and plants were located and small "chamber" balls were held.

The next stop on the route is the Dairy House, skillfully hidden in dense thickets of trees. Under the empress, a stable with cows was once located here, and everyone close to the royal family could taste the freshest dairy products. Next, the train will proceed to New Sylvia, at the entrance of which there is a statue of Apollo Musaget with a cithara in his hands, then through Old Sylvia, and along one of its alleys it will reach the Stone Amphitheater, located on the right bank of the Slavyanka.

On the left bank was the Earthen Amphitheater, where performances were held, and the audience enjoyed the action from the right bank. Next, passengers will see the Viscontius Bridge, which connects the Lilac and Cricova paths, and proceed along the Green Woman Alley, one of the twelve paths of the Big Star area, which was badly damaged at the hands of the German invaders. In the center of the Big Star there is a Music Salon, where music concerts are held to this day.

The next route of the train passes by the Pig-iron (Nikolaev) gates, installed at the entrance to the park from the side of Tsarskoye Selo. These gates were a gift from Nicholas I for the birthday of his mother, Empress Maria Feodorovna, who doted on her country residence- Pavlovsk. From the Pig-Iron Gate, the locomotive will go to the Festivities Square, whose name speaks for itself, follows the Krasnodolinnaya Alley, the longest in the park, and passes the Temple of Friendship, created by Charles Cameron in the form of an antique rotunda with columns. Along Slavyanka, past the Staroshaleynye ponds, the train will go to the Pilbashenny bridge and the tower of the same name, which was once used as a resting place at the bathing house.

From the bridge, the excursion will continue towards the Ruin Cascade, designed by the architect V. Brenna, and return to the 12 paths area (Old Sylvia area). From there, the train will follow the path along the Parade Field, on the creation of which the Italian decorator P. Gonzago worked, and before that Paul I used it as a parade ground for soldiers, and past the Pavilion of Roses, located at the junction of three areas of the park: Parade Field, White Birch and Old Sylvia. At the end of the trip, the train of two trailers along Teatralnaya Alley will return to the square in front of the Pavlovsk Palace.

    Route:

Pavlovsky Palace - Triple Linden Alley - Aviary - Milk House - Statue of Apollo Musaget - Stone Amphitheater - Viscontiev Bridge - Green Woman's Alley - Music Salon - Cast-Iron Gate - Walking Square - Krasnodolinnaya Alley - Temple of Friendship - Star Shale Ponds - 12 Pilbashsky Bridge tracks - Parade field - Theater alley.

It's time to walk through Pavlovsky Park.
I made dozens of routes for myself there.

Today I will show you the Secluded Route.

This is the best route if you are late and want to walk through the most remote and romantic places of the park.
A route through the most secluded parts of the park, without visiting the Palace and places of tourist gatherings.
I was delighted with this route.
You can have a great rest, take a walk.

You manage to see the most beautiful places of the "White Birch", walk along the Slavyanka.

The route begins and ends at a beautiful, straight, seemingly endless Izhora Alley.

It is convenient to go to Pavlovsk via Pushkin. And there you will certainly want to go to the Feodorovsky Cathedral.

You can start a walk around Pavlovsk near Nikolaev (Pig-iron) gates... They are located at the entrance to Pavlovsky Park and are 16 columns with a massive ceiling topped with a double-headed eagle. The gate was built in 1826 according to the project of K. Rossi.

    Pig-iron (Nikolaev) gates

To the north and east of the Nikolaev Gate begins the territory of a large landscape Pavlovsky Park, which occupies 543 hectares.
