Excursion excursion to Kutna Hora. Excursion excursion to Kutná Hora Individual excursions from Prague to Kutná Hora

Fiction of the Ossuary in Kutnaya Hora

A little over an hour's drive from Prague is Kutná Hora- a city that has experienced greatness and decline. Silver deposits, accidentally discovered by monks during the collection, brought wealth and glory to Kutna Hora in the Middle Ages. An ore market worked in the city, where merchants from all over Europe came to buy silver, a central mint was opened, where silver coins were minted. V different time these were Prague pennies, florens, tollars ... In those days, Kutná Hora was considered the economic capital of the kingdom, and in terms of the degree of influence on public life in the country, Kutná Hora was sometimes ahead of Prague. Traces of the old rivalry between the two great cities of the Middle Ages are still visible in the architectural appearance of Kutnaya Hora.

Long ago, that monastery was closed, and the silver mines were depleted. Several centuries ago, times of stagnation came for Kutnaya Gora, and gradually the city turned into a monument to its former greatness. A magnificent example of Gothic architecture remained in memory - the church of St. Barbarians, ancient wall frescoes which tell about the life of the miners of the Middle Ages. But the temple with its architectural luxury rather contrasts with the city of Kutná Hora itself.

Just 60 km from the capital, you can see the quiet life of a small provincial town, and this is a completely different Czech Republic.

Usually, the name Kutná Hora does not mean much to visitors to the Czech Republic, but many have heard about the temple on bones, about chandeliers made of human remains and tens of thousands of skulls. A burning interest to see this in reality, and the desire to find out if this is true or a deception designed for impressionable tourists, bring many curious people to the town of Kutná Hora.

The ossuary, or the same ossuary, is located in the Church of All Saints in the village of Sedlec near Kutna Hora. Legend has it that once upon a time holy land was brought to this place from Jerusalem, and the usual cemetery suddenly became honorable. All the nobility and rich people sought to be buried here. Numerous wars, epidemics and quite common deaths of people led to the overcrowding of the cemetery and the need to clear it. It was decided to honor the memory of the dead and buried in Kutná Hora in a very peculiar way. The remains of the dead were dug up and laid under the cemetery temple, in the Middle Ages in many European countries there was such a custom of reburials. This is how the ossuary appeared on the outskirts of Kutnaya Gora, which is now open to the public. “We are what you will be, and you are what you were…” - you often see such an inscription near the cemetery. A man of the Middle Ages looked at the world around him, at life and death much easier ...

A trip to Kutná Hora to Kostnica evokes a variety of emotions: children, seeing the mountains of white bones, feel the joy of an unusual sight, adults will think about the frailty of existence and the meaning of life. Souvenir shops in Kutnaya Hora are filled with crystal, figurines reminiscent of Kostnitsa, and various little things with the symbols of the Czech Republic.

The second part of the excursion is devoted to the inspection of the Cesky Sternberg castle, located 40 minutes drive from the town of Kutná Hora.

Cesky Sternberg Castle considered one of the oldest in the Czech Republic, it was founded in the middle of the 13th century, but life has not died out in it, since from the moment of its foundation to the present day, the castle belongs to the noble family of Sternbergs, and its owner lives here and now.

Kutnaya Gora with a visit to the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin and the Cathedral of St. Barbara. Ossuary in the suburbs of Kutnaya Gora.

A trip to Kutnaya Gora is always very interesting. After all, this city once competed with Prague itself in importance. It took a long time to build Kutnaya Gora, was repeatedly destroyed, and each time it was revived anew. The city was founded near the monastery of the Cistercians, who appeared in these places as early as the 10th century. Its growth was due to the finding of silver. In the 14th century, the settlement of miners was transformed into a city by royal decree. It was from this moment that the heyday of Kutnaya Gora began. On the territory of the monastery there is a cemetery, which, thanks to the Cistercian monks, is becoming the most popular in the area. Several sacks of earth were brought from Calvary in the 13th century, and the place of repose for the living turns into a place of pilgrimage. The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, destroyed by the Hussites, was rebuilt in the 17th century by Jan Eichel Santini, and in the 18th century flour was kept in the cathedral. Now it is a magnificent cathedral - the adornment of the whole Czech Republic. In the 14th century, the construction of the Cathedral of St. Barbara, the patroness of miners, began on the territory of Kutnaya Gora. This cathedral is included in the UNESCO list.

KUTNA HORA

Tradition says that while walking along the hills, one monk was overcome by a dream, and he dreamed of silver ingots. Waking up, the priest found silver nearby and hid it under his robe. This was the beginning of a settlement that grew into a medieval city. Kutná Hora, which in translation means "old monastic cassock".

Town Kutná Hora once rightfully competed with Prague for the primacy in the Czech kingdom. Thanks to the silver mines, Kutná Hora has become the epicenter of the “silver rush”. Silver was mined in the local mines, and the royal mint was located here. Moreover, Kutná Hora competed with Prague also in the field of culture and the majestic Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara is in no way inferior to the Prague St. Witu. The main tourist destination in Kutne Hora is the famous Ossuary. Its interior - both terrifying and mesmerizing - is made of human bones. Medieval town silver miners and wealthy merchants is famous for amazingly preserved monuments of the Middle Ages and Gothic and is included in the list of monuments protected by UNESCO.

From 1949 it was nationalized by the state until 1992, then it returned again to the Sternberks. The castle is privately owned. Individually! Kutná Hora is a city stuck in the Middle Ages. Ossuary

Individual excursion to the Medieval City - Kutná Hora.

The history of Kutnaya Hora is inextricably linked with the extraction of silver ores. Thanks to its wealth, Kutná Hora becomes the second most important city in the Czech Kingdom after Prague. The wealth of local mines that has become an economic stronghold of power Czech kings, created the possibility of the emergence of many monuments, thanks to which the city was included in the list of the World cultural heritage UNESCO.
The first stop on our journey will be the Ossuary created by Frantisk Rint. According to estimates, in the decoration of the ossuary, the remains of 40,000 people. There is no second such in the world. Can you imagine a more unusual piece of furniture than a chandelier made from human bones, or a decoration made from a human shoulder blade or hip bone? This is a really strange place.
Next, our path lies to the Cathedral of St. Barbara (14th century).

Let's walk through the narrow streets of the city, which seems to be frozen in half-sleep.

And if you wish, you can also visit the Silver Museum and descend into the medieval mine.

When planning a trip to Prague, we immediately decided that besides the capital, we will visit other cities, among them - the town of Kutná Hora with its famous ossuary. This place attracts tourists from all over the world, and we are no exception.

Probably all travel agencies offer a trip to Kutna Hora. This excursion can be easily taken directly in Prague, it is especially convenient for those who came to the Czech Republic without a tour operator. For example, here is the order of prices of one travel agency for a number of excursions, including to Kutna Hora. Entrance tickets are not included in the tour price.

Since we didn't want to go to the castle, and we were only interested in Kutna Hora, we organized the trip ourselves.

- a church decorated from the inside with human bones. In total, it contains bones from 40,000 skeletons. The history of the church begins in the 13th century. For several centuries, the cemetery near the church has been filling so much that space is made available for new burials, taking out the old ones. The bones are put in the church. In the 18th century. a woodcarver was invited, who neatly folded the bones, and also made the interior decoration of the church out of them - a chandelier, vases, the coat of arms of the Schwarzenberg family, etc.

2. Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist is the oldest cathedral in Europe. Built in the 12th century. for a record period for that time - 30 years. It is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. A very beautiful cathedral. Of the three attractions, I was the most impressed.

3. Cathedral of St. Barbara- one of the most famous Gothic cathedrals in the Czech Republic. Built in the 14th century. son of the architect who built St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. Built with the money of local miners (silver was mined in the city), and St. Barbara is considered the patroness of miners. The cathedral is also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

Although the Czech Republic is famous for its capital - Prague, there are many more beautiful and very beautiful cities and localities. One of these cities is Kutná Hora. The foundation of the city began in the 13th century. Geographically, Kutná Hora is located sixty kilometers from Prague to the southeast. Among tourists, it is deservedly considered the treasury of the Czech Republic. The incredibly alluring beauty of the landscapes almost always plays a decisive factor for tourists who want to visit this most romantic place on Earth. The sights of the city have such an attractive beauty that they are appreciated by numerous international organizations, and architectural monuments, which can be visited on excursions to Kutna Hora, are included in the UNESCO List.

Initially, the city became interesting thanks to the huge deposits of silver ore. And already at the end of the 13th century, Kutná Hora was a very wealthy city in the Czech Republic, as well as one of the three most important suppliers of silver in Europe. A little later, the main currency of Europe of those times, the “Prague penny”, was minted here.

The most unusual architectural and historical monument, which attracts tourist streams with its mystery from year to year - storage of bones in the Cemetery Church of All Saints. A terrifying and at the same time attractive place of the church is the chapel, decorated with images of monsters, candelabra, chandeliers and bells made of real human bones. For decoration, as many as FORTY THOUSANDS of genuine human remains were used. Of course, for such a design, all materials were prepared - disinfected and bleached. You can read tons of stuff mysterious stories incredible church, but you can feel the terrifying power of human consciousness only by personally visiting an excursion to Kutná Hora.

It is impossible not to recall the second largest Gothic building in the Czech Republic - the Cathedral of St. Barbara. Its mysteriousness and incredible architecture of the late "Vladislavskaya" Gothic can not be described in words, except to disassemble every spire and every brick of the temple by elements. Therefore, it is not surprising that such an extraordinary structure is protected by UNESCO as the greatest architectural monument.

Individual excursions to Kutná Hora and Kostnica are one of the favorite tourist destinations of our company, and if you are interested in this service, do not hesitate to contact us.

The travel scenario first envisages an exciting excursion to Kutna Hora, where you will visit the Cathedral of St. Barbara. This cathedral is one of the few representatives of the "cult" buildings that were built in the Gothic style.

As the name implies, the cathedral was erected in honor of Saint Barbara, the patroness of the miners who worked in the local silver mines. Throughout its existence, it has slightly changed its appearance and to this day, starting from the XIV century, pleases visitors with its Gothic splendor. External and internal architecture Cathedral can be called a full-fledged museum, as it combines painting, sculptures, frescoes, prints, and household items. Our guide will tell you about this in more detail.

Greetings to blog readers.

Coming close New Year, I have a lot of free time, so I am writing notes that I did not manage to write during my studies.

In the note, as usual, there will be a lot of photos and my personal comments. I'll make a reservation right away - I don't like typical tourist places, therefore, as always - most of it will not be clear what 🙂

Careful, there are a lot of photos ahead, save traffic 🙂

We drove on Thursday morning. On weekdays mornings in cities are usually empty - people are working.

By the way, getting to the police is not easy for an inexperienced tourist - first we go to Kolín, then to the main station in Kutná Hora, and then on a cool two-car yellow train we go shortly to the station “Kutná Hora - Město”. Then 5 minutes walk up the hill - and we are in the police.

I began to take pictures only after receiving a biometric card - I was not distracted 🙂

The weather was so-so, cloudy. This is how official life in the Czech Republic greeted us 🙂

By the way, the word "mountain" in the name of the city is not at all accidental - the city is located far from the plain. This will be seen in many of the following photos. I remember that on the very first day on the train I got into a conversation with a Czech - he praised both Podebrady and Nymburk (he was from there) for the fact that the landscape is flat - it's easy to ride a bike.

In Podebrady, cyclists are everywhere, here - nowhere.

I love looking at little things. For example, the owners of this house are tired of pulling spam out of their mailboxes.

As elsewhere in the Czech Republic - the city seems to be crumbling, but it seems not.

This is roughly the center of the city. Typical, you can't tell from another.

By the way, cars here also go on the pavement. At first glance, it is beautiful. But, firstly, it is loud, and, secondly, in some places it is not visible where is the road, where is the sidewalk.

Greenery on the walls - the Czechs love it very much.

As always - a lot of familiar words.

In fact, every minute there is some kind of attraction. Because there are so many of them, they are completely unremarkable.

But the building on the left seemed to me to be industrial, or something. By the way, be sure to pay attention to where the water flows down the drain pipe. Not on the sidewalk, it would spoil it (in Russia there are often holes punctured by drops under the sewers), but directly into the sewer hatch. By the way, it is a frequent phenomenon, although not everywhere. In Podebrady, for example, pipes are built directly into the sidewalk, covered with bars (which, in turn, are clogged with leaves), also lead to hatches.

By the way, here's the sign. shabby. It amuses me that the little man wears a hat. Here, by the way, this is a frequent detail on conventions... I haven't seen a Czech in a hat for 4 months.

Especially in the city, the places where beautiful view to "beautiful far away."

Every self-respecting city has a store with Russian goods. Such shops are opened most often by immigrants from Ukraine 🙂 It's always expensive there.

Here, too, there are two-faced houses - from a busy street, a house is beautiful, from an uninhabited one - it is falling.

And the sights continue to come across.

But I still love it when it is clear that the person who built the building loved his job. Little things give it away.

By the way, it is worth mentioning the street signs - they are pretty, it is a pity that the form is very simple. The lower font, by the way, is hard to see on the move.

Wouldn't it be unpleasant to live in such a house?

I found this one, though only one. With a tall tree. That will stick out right in your window.

Still, the feeling of beauty is not alien here. A bit crooked, but at least we tried it.

And then this place attracted me. Pay attention to the deer on the top left. Well, cool.

It's autumn here, it's very beautiful.

And here you can see the wonders of graffiti.

No wonder they wrapped it up, in general.

By the way, there are often such garbage bins on the streets. Residents roll them out on schedule. Their big disadvantage is that sometimes they block the entire passage.

Here the man could not resist and painted and covered everything. By the way, you need to read line by line, although you want to column by column.

Without realizing it, they came back to the center. A riot of colors, an even bigger riot of prices 🙂

And someone did not bathe at all. By the way, I'm very tired of this pink paint.

There are already more people.

In the article he talked about the plague pillar - there is one here too.

By that time, I was already tired of walking, so according to the plan, it was decided to go to the famous sights of the city.

Ossuary.

A place that everyone probably knows about. In short - the uncle dug up the bones of people and made souvenirs from them. It turned out to equip the whole building.

They are real.

There are many of them. 4 such heaps.

They are everywhere, even on the ceiling.

They even made a coat of arms.

To heighten the entourage, the cobweb is not removed.

In fact, it is not as scary as it seems.

But on the street it is prettier and scarier. There is a cemetery right there. Quite a working one, there are even fresh graves. It’s there somehow uncomfortable.

Over time, you cease to notice such buildings.

There is a place with cheap beer nearby, by the way. Strange, tourists go there.

Cathedral of St. Mary.

Then we reached the cathedral. High.

Well, suddenly someone will be interested. I don't know who reads these things.

The inside is empty, simple.

Focus on the head. Carlson?

Miracles do not happen in the temple, so you have to protect it completely with human forces.

As in the movies, you just can't go in.

The stones are lying around. They said they were original. Not good.

I'm kidding everything, but, it seems, there is something to see.

You just need to raise your head.

And try to look where the arrows do not point.

Have you seen the organ?

Has been noticed spiral staircase... You must agree, it is always curious to climb into such places.

In general, there are very few miracles.

But my curiosity was satisfied - well, where else could I climb under the roof of the temple with impunity?

There is still something magical about these stained-glass windows. Well, for me.

It's very empty, after all, inside.

The ventilation is working.

And here is a hole in the wall. I would be interested to know its purpose, not those statues or pebbles. But such things are rarely talked about - even people do not see them.

Well, in general, when the place is unpopular. There is a time to look for something beautiful that has not been found before you. I liked, right, this angle.

On this, in principle, everything. The strength was no longer enough, it was getting dark. Therefore, I say goodbye to the readers, I hope that my photo tours were not boring 🙂
