How to get to Fukuoka

There are two ways to get to Phu Quoc Island from other cities in Vietnam - by bus or by plane. In fact, since this is an island, in addition to the bus, a boat will also be involved, but you still can't get to the boat without a bus, so let's talk about everything in order.

Fukuoka airport

The civil airport in Fukuoka is located in the city of Duong Dong in the center of the island. It is also known as Duong Dong Airport. Not so long ago, this airport was very small and could not receive more planes than the Fokker 70 and ATR 72. But now it has been improved so much that larger planes can land here. You can get to Fukuoka by plane of Vietnam Airlines (by clicking on the link, you can buy a ticket to Fukuoka). Previously, a small airline Mekong Airlines still flew, but it closed. Ticket prices start at $ 50 per person. There are four daily flights from Ho Chi Minh City, as well as from Hanoi and the cities of Can Tho and Rach Gia.

The airport in Fukuoka does not have international status, only domestic planes arrive here from different cities Vietnam, however, active construction work is currently underway international airport... The airport is not so far from Duong Dong - only two kilometers! To get from it to the city where the bulk of tourists rest, you do not need to put in any effort! Bus

It will take you a little longer to get from Ho Chi Minh City to Fukuoka by bus than by plane, but it will also cost less. All buses leave at night. If you leave Ho Chi Minh City at 9 pm, then by 10 am the next day you will arrive in Phu Quoc. It is better to take a ticket from one of the tour agencies, of which there are many in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. The ticket will cost $ 25-30 per person, depending on agency policy. Twice as expensive as any other destination because it is an island and the price will also include a speedboat ticket. The boat is staying on eastern part islands, and main city located in the west, you will need to take one of the many buses that will already be waiting for your arrival.

If you want to bypass the agency's tour, then at the bus station in Ho Chi Minh City, Mien Tay Bus Station, buy a ticket to the Rach Gia port (about six hours on the way), and in the port you are already on the boat. The price of a boat ticket is from 160,000 to 350,000 dongs per person, depending on the comfort of the cabin. The boat to Fukuoka takes 2.5 hours. There will also be selling tickets for the shuttle from the pier to the city at 25,000 VND per person. Even if you don’t buy such a ticket, you will still be taken away. As a rule, drivers still run after passengers and persuade them to get on their bus.

Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is on the outskirts of the city. The most remarkable thing is that there is nothing connecting between the terminals, there are no crossings, escalators and monorails. Upon arrival, after obtaining a visa, passing passport control and customs, you will need to walk almost half a kilometer to the terminal. Fortunately, we only had with us carry-on baggage and the distance was short. For the future, we realized that you can also take a taxi, with a boarding fee it turns out about 10 dollars.

Winperl

Arriving in Phu Quoc Vietnam in 2019, you need to visit one of the main attractions - Vinperl. It was built in literally 1 year, but it is still being completed. Winperl consists of two different parks, one with attractions and water slides, the second safari park. You can take a ticket separately, for rides 500,000 dong, for safari 600,000 dong, there is a single ticket for one day for 850,000 dong. Winperl tickets are sold in all hotels and travel agencies. With this ticket, you can take revenge on the bus (goes along the main road towards Vinperl) and get there for free. The reverse is the same. But this is only if you have a ticket. We liked the Fukuoka safari. Part of the park is set aside for a zoo, and part for a safari. You need to take a bus (included in the ticket price), which will travel through the savannah with wild animals.

Cable car

Sun World Cable Car is one of the best attractions in Fukuoka. A ticket costs 500,000 dong, for this amount you will get to Pineapple Island and back. The road passes over the sea, from above they open beautiful views as if you are flying low on an airplane. On Pineapple Island you need to take a golf cart (called the "buggy station" and go to the beach). This is all included in the price. Free sun loungers, chairs, showers, toilets on the beach. There is a cafe with unlimited food (just near the beach), it costs 250,000 VND per person. To swim in the sea, it is imperative to wear a vest (this is carefully monitored by lifeguards). The Coconut Prison is the eerie reality of Fukuoka, once a prison island. Here you will see the cells in which prisoners were kept in inhuman conditions. The coconut prison closes at 17.00, so we didn't get there the first time (arrived late). I had to go another time.

There is a local history museum in the southeast of Phu Quoc Island. You can go there, but not necessarily. It's just that if there is already nothing to do, then you can.

On Phu Quoc Island, we went to a rubber plantation, learned how black pepper grows and went to fishing village where we were fed a very tasty lunch.

We also flew to Hanoi with the whole company while on holiday in Fukuoka, where the main attractions of Vietnam are located: Ho Chi Minh Palace, the Temple of Literature and others. As for the return tickets, they cost the same as one-way tickets. Please note that a tax is also added to the cost of tickets: for one-way tickets it is 180 thousand dongs, for round-trip tickets - 310,000 dongs (≈ 667 rubles).

I advise you to buy tickets in advance, as they are sold out pretty quickly.

You can also get from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc with other airlines besides Vietnam Airlines. For example, you can fly Jetstar pacific(≈ 1300 rubles) or VietJet Air(≈ 1,500 rubles). But both airlines have even more profitable offer- for example, a one-way ticket for only $ 18 (900 rubles).

How to get from Nha Trang to Phu Quoc

Method one: by air

By plane from Nha Trang to Phu Quoc can only be reached with a transfer in Ho Chi Minh City, there are no direct flights. It will cost about 1,200,000 dongs (≈ 2.5 thousand rubles).

From Hanoi, you can also fly to the island, a round-trip flight will cost at least 6 thousand rubles.

From Cambodia to Phu Quoc

The easiest way to get to Fukuoka from Cambodia is to fly from Siem Reap with Vietnam Airlines. The method, however, is not the lowest-budget: the fare for a round-trip flight is $ 22, but taking into account all taxes and fees, it turns out already from $ 136.

You can go from Siem Reap by bus across the border to Hatien, and from there by boat to Fukuoka. All this will come out cheaper than by plane, but it will take almost the whole day to move.

From Kep to Hatien you can take a taxi or buy a bus + boat / ferry transfer, which costs about 40-50 dollars.
