How to get to Fukuoka

There are two ways to get to Phu Quoc Island from other cities in Vietnam - by bus or by plane. In fact, since this is an island, in addition to the bus, a boat will also be involved, but you still can't get to the boat without a bus, so let's talk about everything in order.

We traveled to Fukuoka on our own from Ho Chi Minh City. We bought a ticket for a sleeping bus to the port of Rach Gia, and from the port a ticket for a speedboat to Duong Dong. How to get to the island by plane and bus, read below.

Fukuoka airport

The civil airport in Fukuoka is located in the city of Duong Dong in the center of the island. It is also known as Duong Dong Airport. Not so long ago, this airport was very small and could not receive more planes than the Fokker 70 and ATR 72. But now it has been improved so much that larger planes can land here. You can get to Fukuoka by plane of Vietnam Airlines (by clicking on the link, you can buy a ticket to Fukuoka). Previously, a small airline Mekong Airlines still flew, but it closed. Ticket prices start at $ 50 per person. There are four daily flights from Ho Chi Minh City, as well as from Hanoi and the cities of Can Tho and Rach Gia.

The airport in Fukuoka does not have international status, only domestic planes arrive here from different cities Vietnam, however, active construction work is currently underway international airport... The airport is not so far from Duong Dong - only two kilometers! To get from it to the city where the bulk of tourists rest, you do not need to put in any effort! At the exit, you will already be waiting for a taxi and minibuses, which for a reasonable fee will take you to your holiday destination.

There are no direct flights from Russia and the CIS countries to Phu Quoc. If you have planned your holiday on the island, you need to take a ticket to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh, and from there to domestic flight to Duong Dong city. Better, of course, to fly to Ho Chi Minh City, since from there it is much closer to Fukuoka.

You can view the prices for air tickets online here.

Bus

It will take you a little longer to get from Ho Chi Minh City to Fukuoka by bus than by plane, but it will also cost less. All buses leave at night. If you leave Ho Chi Minh City at 9 pm, then by 10 am the next day you will arrive in Phu Quoc. It is better to take a ticket from one of the tour agencies, of which there are many in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. The ticket will cost $ 25-30 per person, depending on agency policy. Twice as expensive as any other destination because it is an island and the price will also include a speedboat ticket. The boat is staying on eastern part islands, and main city located in the west, you will need to take one of the many buses that will already be waiting for your arrival.

If you want to bypass the agency's tour, then at the bus station in Ho Chi Minh City, Mien Tay Bus Station, buy a ticket to the Rach Gia port (about six hours on the way), and in the port you are already on the boat. The price of a boat ticket is from 160,000 to 350,000 dongs per person, depending on the comfort of the cabin. The boat to Fukuoka takes 2.5 hours. There will also be selling tickets for the shuttle from the pier to the city at 25,000 VND per person. Even if you don’t buy such a ticket, you will still be taken away. As a rule, drivers still run after passengers and persuade them to get on their bus.

- the largest and most "heavenly" in Vietnam. This is, of course, in quotation marks, because it is still very far from heaven. All about Phu Quoc Island 2019, how to get to Phu Quoc, what to see and which hotels in Phu Quoc in Vietnam to choose.

Phu Quoc is not yet promoted, crowds do not come here package tourists, there is not a lot of traffic, even roads are not everywhere. Moreover, direct charters fly to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam for only a few years. Mostly from Moscow. And not every day. From the pluses of Phu Quoc Island - the roads are far from the coast, so there are hotels right on the seashore.

Fukuoka Map

To navigate the island, I recommend our branded offline map of Fukuoka. It highlights hotels, shops, attractions, exchange rates, weather. The map plots the route and determines the location without the Internet!

We went in a large company to Phu Quoc Island in 2019 for two weeks. Before leaving, we thought for a long time where we should go, to Vietnam or Thailand, but still decided to stop in Vietnam. Because they really wanted to visit the neighboring country of Cambodia, see and cable car to Pineapple Island (the longest cable car in the world over the sea!). We also wanted to get acquainted with Vietnam, which carries the culture of Western and Eastern civilization.

In general, going to Phu Quoc in the summer is not very good idea... July is the rainiest month of the year. It has been raining like a wall for 2 weeks in a row. But at the end of August, Fukuoka is already not bad, there are several days without rain at all. But on the western side of Phu Quoc Island there are winds and waves. The rainy season officially lasts until October.

Phu Quoc Vietnam

Phu Quoc, Vietnam - former colony France, which has been heavily influenced by China and has long and well-established ties with Russia. I never expected to see our KAMAZs and UAZs in Fukuoka, and there are a lot of them here.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is located in the southwest of the country on the border with Cambodia. The travel agency assured us that this is one of the most best places for a vacation in Vietnam, with excellent beaches, Fukuoka hotels in Vietnam and a lot of entertainment for a large company.

In fact, everything that the travel agency said turned out to be untrue. Phu Quoc is a nascent tourism village. The beaches are dirty and littered with rubbish. If the beach is from the hotel, then of course it is removed. Around the eternal construction site, you can not drive up to the sea everywhere. The roads are half unpaved, there is no lighting. But first things first.

Tours to Phu Quoc and Nha Trang

If you want to visit Phu Quoc Island 2019 for 1-2 weeks, then it's easier to buy a tour. The price includes direct flight, transfer, hotel and insurance. If you go on your own, then only with a change.

How to Get to Phu Quoc

The most convenient way to get to Fukuoka on your own is to fly by Aeroflot or Vietnam Airlines through the city of Ho Chi Minh City. The flight was quite comfortable and took place on a Boeing 767. The flight time was 9.5 hours, during which we were fed, watered, and it was also possible to occupy yourself with watching entertainment programs... Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh airport, we had to transfer to local airlines.

Now it is easier to buy a tour to Phu Quoc, where there will be a direct flight. Such tours are sold by "Sanmar" and "Coral Travel". Therefore, you do not need to worry about transplants.

Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is on the outskirts of the city. The most remarkable thing is that there is nothing connecting between the terminals, there are no crossings, escalators and monorails. Upon arrival, after obtaining a visa, passing passport control and customs, you will need to walk almost half a kilometer to the terminal. Fortunately, we only had with us carry-on baggage and the distance was short. For the future, we realized that you can also take a taxi, with a boarding fee it turns out about 10 dollars.

Fukuoka landmarks

Winperl

Arriving in Phu Quoc Vietnam in 2019, you need to visit one of the main attractions - Vinperl. It was built in literally 1 year, but it is still being completed. Winperl consists of two different parks, one with attractions and water slides, the second safari park. You can take a ticket separately, for rides 500,000 dong, for safari 600,000 dong, there is a single ticket for one day for 850,000 dong. Winperl tickets are sold in all hotels and travel agencies. With this ticket, you can take revenge on the bus (goes along the main road towards Vinperl) and get there for free. The reverse is the same. But this is only if you have a ticket. We liked the Fukuoka safari. Part of the park is set aside for a zoo, and part for a safari. You need to take a bus (included in the ticket price), which will travel through the savannah with wild animals.

Cable car

Sun World Cable Car is one of the best attractions in Fukuoka. A ticket costs 500,000 dong, for this amount you will get to Pineapple Island and back. The road passes over the sea, from above they open beautiful views as if you are flying low on an airplane. On Pineapple Island you need to take a golf cart (called the "buggy station" and go to the beach). This is all included in the price. Free sun loungers, chairs, showers, toilets on the beach. There is a cafe with unlimited food (just near the beach), it costs 250,000 VND per person. To swim in the sea, it is imperative to wear a vest (this is carefully monitored by lifeguards). Coming to Phu Quoc Island 2019, the cable car and Pineapple Island are a must-see!

Coconut prison

The Coconut Prison is the eerie reality of Fukuoka, once a prison island. Here you will see the cells in which prisoners were kept in inhuman conditions. The coconut prison closes at 17.00, so we didn't get there the first time (arrived late). I had to go another time.

Museum of local lore

There is a local history museum in the southeast of Phu Quoc Island. You can go there, but not necessarily. It's just that if there is already nothing to do, then you can.

The main attraction of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam is, of course, its nature, and almost all specimens of local flora and fauna are collected here. Those who wish to experience all the species and in one place while on holiday in Fukuoka will find the museum interesting.

Cau palace

Kau Palace is one of the attractions of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam; it also has the same name as the Temple of the Sea Lady of Vietnam. We got there by taxi, as it is located relatively close to our Fukuoka hotel in Vietnam, near the Duong Dong embankment.

This palace in Fukuoka serves as a lighthouse and has the status of a temple, and for the most amazing religion in the world - "Kaodai". Admirers of this religion recognize famous personalities as saints: Tolstoy, Lenin, Churchill, etc. So coming to Phu Quoc Island in 2019, you can still pray for our famous ancestors.

What else to see and where to go

On Phu Quoc Island, we went to a rubber plantation, learned how black pepper grows and went to fishing village where we were fed a very tasty lunch.

Vietnam has the cheapest diving school, so if someone has a desire to learn, I advise you to do it here.

We also flew to Hanoi with the whole company while on holiday in Fukuoka, where the main attractions of Vietnam are located: Ho Chi Minh Palace, the Temple of Literature and others. Low-cost airlines and Vietnamese airlines fly there directly from Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. A round trip ticket costs about $ 100 per person.

Phu Quoc: review

In conclusion, I would like to note that if you have seen enough beautiful pictures on the Internet, then real island Phu Quoc, Vietnam has nothing to do with them. Yes, if you rent a luxury hotel and do not go beyond it, perhaps ... There will be paradise. But it will not be the real Fukuoka, but just a picture.

If you want to explore Phu Quoc, Vietnam, then a bad road, mud, debris and eternal construction awaits you. But this is real Vietnam. This is something worth seeing. Don't expect great service outside the hotel, it just isn't there. This will not be told in the travel agency, you know.

About tips. We argued with friends for a long time, shared our experience, how best. On the example of the then not yet spoiled places of Thailand, Bali, Goa ... People came, left a big tip, and locals decided that prices were very low and began to raise them. In general, we came to the conclusion that there is no need to leave a tip in Fukuoka in Vietnam. In order not to spoil and spoil the locals.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is still a beach holiday. But the locals don't really cherish such beauty. If there is a city nearby, the water will be dirty. If there is a hotel nearby, then everything will be clean and well-groomed. Direction Phu Quoc, Vietnam is actively developing. Now huge complexes are being built on the seashore in all parts of the island. The food in Fukuoka is varied and delicious, with a lot of seafood that I love. But the menu is often without prices, so tourists pay more for everything.

In Fukuoka, few people know English language, Russian of course too. Therefore, you often need to express yourself on your fingers. In many shops, in the market and even in cafes, there are no prices, which personally does not suit me very much. The price will be shown on a calculator or a bill will be taken out, but what the cost will be depends on the mood of the seller.

By the way, Russians are treated very well in Fukuoka. But they don't like the Chinese. The service at our Fukuoka hotel in Vietnam was at a high level, and in general I liked everything. I recommend Phu Quoc Island 2019, Vietnam for those who have already visited Asia and are not afraid of dirt and debris.

All the ways to get to Fukuoka from Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and Hanoi by air and water - the article will tell you how to do it inexpensively, simply and quickly.

Phu Quoc- a popular island resort of Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand. The island is developing rapidly, but, despite the flow of tourists and infrastructure, Phu Quoc has remained pristine: almost a third of the island is occupied by tropical jungle - national park Phu Quoc National Park.

Phu Quoc is popular with both Vietnamese and foreigners. At the resort, you can both relax on the white beaches and engage in active sports such as diving. For beach holiday weather ideal here - you can relax all year round. The resort is also famous for its pearl plantation. You can get to Fukuoka both by air and by water.

There is also a Special Deal tariff, according to which tickets cost only 500-600 thousand dongs (≈ 1000-1300 rubles), however, in this case, tickets cannot be returned or exchanged.

Second way: bus + boat

The way to get to Fukuoka, combining land and water transport, suitable for those who want to see the famous Mekong Delta on the way (you need to make a stop in the city of Can Tho). So, there are several options:

  • First, we take a night bus (slip bass) to Ho Chi Minh City, from there - to the Rach Gia port, and then there we take a speedboat (for example, Super Dong or Savannaexpress) to Fukuoka. Minimum cost a boat ticket - 160 thousand dongs, a bus ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to the port will cost about 200 thousand dongs.

From Cambodia to Phu Quoc

The easiest way to get to Fukuoka from Cambodia is to fly from Siem Reap with Vietnam Airlines. The method, however, is not the lowest-budget: the fare for a round-trip flight is $ 22, but taking into account all taxes and fees, it turns out already from $ 136.

From Kep to Hatien you can take a taxi or buy a bus + boat / ferry transfer, which costs about 40-50 dollars.
