Open the left menu Hawaiian Islands. From Los Angeles to Hawaii in the USA - a flight to Honolulu and a choice of beach and hotel on the island of Oahu and Maui

Every tourist who dreams of spending his vacation on the ocean coast is interested in how long to fly to the Hawaiian Islands from Moscow. You should also find out the amount of the ticket in advance, so that in the future the named figure does not shock the passenger. Flying to Hawaii is not a pleasure for the poor.

The remoteness of the Hawaiian Islands from the Russian capital makes direct flights impossible. Passengers will need to make one or more transfers. Thus, the duration of the flight can be from 16 to 18 hours if one transfer is planned and 35-40 hours if the flight requires two or more transfers.
The shortest route to the islands involves a transfer in Japan. The duration of the flight on the Moscow-Tokyo route will be 8-9 hours. Then you need to make a transfer to the plane to Honolulu. This flight option is the fastest. However, it will cost the passenger a pretty penny. On average, a one-way ticket for one person will cost about $ 2,000, which is a huge amount at the current exchange rate.
A budget option flights are offered to their potential customers Russian airlines... A ticket for a flight from a Japanese company is somewhat more expensive, but the level of comfort is much higher.
An alternative flight to Hawaii is via continental America. A flight to Los Angeles is significantly less expensive than what you would have to pay on a flight to Tokyo. The cost of tickets will be reduced by approximately 2 times. A plane from here will take the passenger to the capital of Hawaii, Honolulu.
Among the popular European carriers, flights to Hawaii are carried out such as:
Lufthansa;
British Airways;
Air France and others.
Despite the high level of comfort, it comes with high price flight, which will not be within the power of every passenger wishing to use the services of these companies.

1. Hawaii - the birthplace of surfing
Surf fans will probably know the fact that this sport was invented in Hawaii. More than 1000 years ago, the Polynesians who inhabited the islands at that time began to actively engage in it. The boards were noticeably different from what they are presented to a modern person who prefers to spend his leisure time fighting the waves. They weighed over 150 pounds and were 20 feet long.
2. Features of the flag of the islands.
The flag of Hawaii has eight horizontal stripes. Each of them personifies the 8 main islands of the state. In the upper left corner is the image of the British flag. This is a kind of tribute to Captain George Vancouver - the man thanks to whom the Hawaiians first acquired their own flag. It happened back in 1794.
3. A haven for endangered animals.
Hawaii has become a haven for endangered US animals. More than a third of them live here.
4. Canned ham is a favorite food of Hawaiians.
Canned ham is practically the same for Hawaiians as potatoes are for a Russian. The islanders consume it immensely. They consume over 6 million cans of food every day.
5. The Hawaiian Islands are a paradise for foreign tourists.
More than 6 million tourists come here annually. Such indicators at the moment cannot be boasted of any other of the most popular resorts... A huge number of holidaymakers brings local residents colossal income - about $ 11 billion annually.
6. New island in the Hawaiian archipelago.
In 250,000 years, the Hawaiian archipelago will be replenished with another island. It will be the underwater volcano Loikhi. There is a short distance from the surface of the ocean to its top - 980 meters. But to overcome it, the volcano will take many years.
7. Prehistory of the famous Waikiki beach.
On the site of the now popular among tourists Waikiki Beach, there used to be an unremarkable swampy area. Since 1920, sand has been brought here from California. This continued until 1970. Today, restoration work is still underway here, as sand is periodically washed out during low tides.

How to behave on the plane?

During the flight, passengers are prohibited from creating situations that threaten the safety of the flight. In addition, smoking is not allowed on board the aircraft. This rule also applies to electronic cigarettes, not to mention traditional ones. The aircraft is equipped with special sensors that will quickly react even to a small amount of smoke, which is why the passenger will subsequently have problems with the flight attendants.
One of the most enjoyable parts of a flight is eating. Flight attendants and stewards can offer breakfast, lunch or dinner, depending on what time the flight is. You can eat already one hour after the start of the flight.
The first to offer drinks:
juices;
mineral water;
lemonade.
Then hot meals are served. If it is lunch, passengers are offered:
potato with meat;
salad;
butter;
roll;
tea or coffee;
dessert.
Some airlines offer their passengers elite alcoholic drinks. This usually only applies to the first class.
Food from different companies is markedly different. In addition to the traditional one, passengers can also be offered an extended menu. For example, it can be a vegetarian menu or a Muslim one. Each passenger, if desired, can order it in advance. No additional payment is required. Food is included in the ticket price. However, not many passengers know about the existence of an additional menu, so it is not very popular.
The toilet can be used both during take-off and during the flight and after landing. Removing water is easy. It is enough to press the button.
During landing, you must tighten the seat belt tightly. It is strictly forbidden to get up from your seats until the plane stops completely.

Hawaiian archipelago

The fiftieth state of the United States, located in the central part The Pacific and consists of 162 islands, only seven of which are inhabited. The islands have fantastic nature - palm trees and tropical flowers, wide beaches and stable beautiful weather.

The capital is Honolulu.

How to get to Hawaii

The Hawaiian Islands are the largest transport hub in the North Pacific Ocean, through which the routes connecting the United States and Canada with states pass East Asia, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.

It is most convenient for Russian tourists to make regular flight to Los Angeles, then domestic flight to Honolulu (~ 5 hours). If tourists go to the islands of Hawaii, Maui or Kauai, the flight is also to Los Angeles, then - domestic flight before desired island with a mandatory landing in Honolulu.

A flight from New York or Chicago will take 9-10 hours, you can also get from Japan in about 7 hours, but this option is considered more expensive. Minimum cost flight - about $ 1200 ($ 800 to the mainland and $ 400 to the islands). An American visa to visit Hawaii is required: $ 20 one-time, $ 150 annual, $ 450 for three years, plus $ 45 consular fee.

You can also get to Hawaii cruise ship off the coast of the United States. As a rule, ocean liners depart from Los Angeles (USA) or Vancouver (Canada), such a trip lasts three days and will cost you about the same money as the flight.

Hawaiian climate

The climate on the islands is humid and tropical. From May to November, tropical cyclones bring precipitation, but these rains are not prolonged, there are many hours of sunshine even during this period. There is no stifling heat on the islands.

Resorts

One of the main advantages of Hawaii is its diversity. All islands are different in landscape and vegetation, each has its own characteristics. For example, on the island of Oahu there is a very developed tourist infrastructure, there are practically no “wild” places there. The island of Hawaii or Big Island is interesting for its Volcanoes National Park. And the island of Maui, thanks strong winds, attracts windsurfing enthusiasts.

Transport

You can travel between the islands by ferries or planes of local airlines, which is expensive and not always convenient. Inside the islands - by taxi, rented car or regular buses. Car rental in Hawaii is the cheapest in the US, with a midsize sedan for $ 20 / day.

Hotels and resorts

There are no all inclusive hotels in Hawaii. Tourists have a choice to stay in the so-called "resort", in a large hotel with swimming pools, restaurants and parks on site, or to rent an apartment upon arrival. Moreover, apartment complexes are not much inferior to hotels in terms of infrastructure - they are located next to beaches, with swimming pools in picturesque corners. The cost of accommodation in an apartment is from $ 150 per day, in a "resort" - from $ 200 per day.

Diving in Hawaii

The most popular diving island is Maui. Its coastal waters are home to coral colonies and a host of colorful fish and sea turtles... The island's western and southern coastal waters also offer shallow snorkelling. Southwest of Maui lies the microscopic crescent island of Molokini, thanks to its wealth underwater world received the status of a specially protected natural zone.

There are many diving centers on Maui where you can get training and get a PADI certificate.

Surfing

Hawaiian natives consider surfing a royal sport: for many centuries, only the local nobility had the right to carelessly dissect on the board along the crests of the waves (by the way, using special paddles for better stability and maneuverability). Today, crowds of surfers from all over the world have joined the people of blue blood: "board sport" is one of the most popular Hawaiian entertainment.

Popular surf beaches include: on the island of Hawaii - Pine Trees, Kahaluu and Banyans for beginners and Honolia for the confident on the board. On Kauai - Poipu Beach and Nahuiliuili Harbor on south coast islands, Tunnel's Beach and Ganaley Bay to the north. Oahu invites surfers to ride the waves around Waikiki Beach and sweep the crests of the giant waves of Waimea Bay. You can “surf” on the island of Maui on Hookipa Beach or in Honolua Bay (the latter is for professionals, the waves there are rather big and treacherous).

Any of the listed surf sites offer classes with instructors, both for beginners and for those who want to improve their skill level.

After hundreds of questions and suggestions from friends and acquaintances that I am a millionaire, I nevertheless gathered my strength, sat down, patiently went through all bank statements, raised the checks, strained my memory and sat down to write this post - about how much my week-long trip to Hawaii in June 2015.

I originally planned to visit Hawaii as part of travel around the world, which was planned 10 months before the start (already from September 2014). Tickets were purchased for good prices from Honolulu to Seattle and from Anchorage to Reykjavik. But time made adjustments, the ruble exchange rate began to scare, and as a result, the air tickets were handed over on voluntary and (to my luck) forced refunds.
But my fearless friend Elnar (Mishka.Travel) did not give up the trip around the world and asked me to at least fly to Hawaii, where his wife also flew. And a month and a half before the trip, I began to book, buy, order everything that is necessary for the trip.
So, at the designated point - the island of Maui, I arrived at 12:00 on May 31, flew away at 10:00 on June 6. Total 6 full days.

Hawaii is a US state and requires a valid visa.

All Hawaiian Notes:

1. FLIGHTS

While almost everyone flies to Hawaii from the mainland of the United States, I flew in a non-standard route - east, through and through Tokyo.

I found all tickets for the prices listed below using ticket search engines Skyscanner and Aviasales.

S7 jointly with Japan Airlines sold a ticket on the route - Tokyo - Honolulu and back for 28 thousand rubles.

A ticket Moscow - Vladivostok by Aeroflot in the comfort class cost me 14708 rubles.

And from Vladivostok to Moscow, I bought a business class ticket for Aeroflot miles and paid only 3208 rubles.

Arriving in Honolulu (Oahu island), in 3 hours I was waiting for the next flight to Kahului on the island of Maui. For the flight Honolulu - Kahului, I paid $ 72 or 3675 rubles (Island Air).

I returned from Maui to Honolulu with MOKULELE Airlines and paid for the ticket $ 110 or 5614 rubles.

2. HOTELS

On the way back to Moscow, I stopped at the A Hotel Amursky Zaliv in Vladivostok and paid 1,500 rubles per day.

3. RENT A CAR

As a result, we drove (if I remember correctly) about 800 km around the island of Maui and refueled the tank for $ 20 again (I bought dollars for 51 rubles), having arrived in pairs to the service to hand over the car before departure.

In total, renting a car cost us three $ 335.24 or 18183 rubles (for one person - 6061 rubles).

4. FOOD

It is difficult to write about everything that was eaten and drunk)

On the second day, we discovered a place where you can order excellent breakfasts all day.

Since it gets dark early on the island, and it is already light at 4 am, then life at 5 am was already starting to boil. And it was necessary to hurry so that at 5:30 - 6 am not to stand in line for breakfast. On average, you could have a good meal for $ 10.

We bought food in supermarkets and cooked in our apartments. You could always buy fresh seafood, fish, meat at very reasonable prices.

Last night we bought these two pieces of beef for $ 25 and cooked them on a gas barbecue in our yard.

Some price tags:

5. NATIONAL PARKS

By car, we went to Haleakala Park, as well as during a trip to Hana - to Kipahulu Park, where each one paid $ 15 or 765 rubles ( 255 rubles per person).

6. SURFING

One of my main goals when traveling to Hawaii was to try to get on the board. A two-hour lesson in using the whiteboard cost $ 110 or 5610 rubles for three. At first it seemed to us that this time would not be enough, but after 40 minutes I realized that for the first time it was too much for me, and after an hour and a half the strength was at zero.

RESULTS

Let's summarize the sections in rubles:

  1. Flights - 55 205 rubles.
  2. Accommodation - 18,314 rubles.
  3. Car rental - 6,061 rubles.
  4. Food, drinks, snacks - on average $ 50-60 per day, that is, for 6 days, about 18,500 rubles.
  5. National parks - 510 rubles.
  6. Surfing - 3 060 rubles.
  7. Postcards - 2 550 rubles.

Total: 104,200 rubles.

Is it worth spending so much money for a week? In my opinion, yes!
