Greece sithonia sea and pines. Sithonia, Halkidiki - a route through the most beautiful bays and beaches. - a large sandy beach in the south-east of Sithonia. I would call it camper beach. The beach differs in that it has a steep entry into the water. I took a few steps for you too

For the fifth season, my children and I have been resting in Sithonia, during this time we have visited many beaches of this "finger" of Halkidiki.

The site is focused on children's rest, therefore, in the descriptions of the beaches I will pay special attention to details that are important for parents.

So let's go!

Photos in the gallery are arranged in the order of the location of the beaches from the beginning of Sithonia, first the direction of Nikiti-Neos-Marmaras-Toroni, then Nikiti-Vourvourou-Sarti

All photos can be enlarged, read the details for the photo detailed description the beach.

Immediately after Nikiti, turn off at the fork to Neos Marmaras. After 2-3 km, carefully look at the Kastri sign, on it, turn off the main road, then follow the path to drive to private houses, and then drive to the sea to a small parking lot along the beach. Castries Beach is a very shallow bay, perfect for children, even very young ones. Wouldn't recommend this beach for weekend or high season. Locals and summer residents also know and love him well, and therefore very ..

The next beach after Kastri beach, if you continue along the Σιθωνίας περιμετρική from Nikiti to Neos Marmaras, is called Agios Ioannis. There are sun loungers and umbrellas (fee - drink from the bar), music, bar, toilet. The music in the Heaven bar is quite pleasant. Chairs, sunbeds are originally decorated, there is a shower - in the form of a hose :) The entrance to the water is normal. Beautiful views... It is better to park after leaving the road as indicated.

Just a couple of kilometers from Agios Ioannis Beach is Koviou Beach. This blue lagoon You won't miss it, it suddenly opens up after a sharp turn in the road. You can park right away, next to a sign with the name of the beach and go down the path, but this is not convenient. It is better to drive longer along the highway, turn off at the sign Makednos hotel, then to Isla bar. There, leave the car on the hill and go down 20 meters to the beach. On Koviu there is also a wild part of the beach and sun loungers (from the hotel, but for a drink in the bar it is yours for the whole day). On the edge of the beach there is a shadow from the pine trees, the entrance is different - there are stones on the edge, but most of good..

Moving on - Kalogria beach. The beach is crowded during the season, next to summer cottages, several apartment buildings, a small hotel, a couple of taverns and beach bars. On the beach there is a rental of catamarans, boats, sun loungers, a small lake with turtles. Not bad, but crowded. The beach is sandy, there is also sand in the water, it gets pretty quickly.

Immediately behind Kalogria, there is the Spasies beach (there is also a second Spasies beach - the next bay, but we haven’t got there yet :). Spasies is a small and very picturesque bay. You have to go there early in the morning, otherwise you won't find a place to sit in the shade. Climb the cliff, it's not as difficult as it sounds, the views are amazing. And there is also a beautiful underwater world and good fish ..

Then the beaches with the general name Elia begin. To get to them, after the pointer to the Ag Pavlos spring, behind a sharp turn, after the Lilly Ann Hotel, exit the main road onto the parallel secondary road. It is pleasant to ride along it slowly, looking at the villas, hotels and beaches. Beaches, mostly picturesque bays, but there are many ..

Be sure to visit Neos Marmaras - the most large town Sithonia. You can leave the main road at the first turn to the right when entering the town. Signpost - Paradisos beach. Get to the city beach Paradisos, make an impression about it. The beach is quite long, sandy, there is a road along the beach, sometimes cars drive, followed by houses and apartments. Close to a large supermarket. If you go up a steep hill by car, there is a smooth descent from it to the Neos Marmaras Marina, where you can conveniently park, walk, eat in restaurants, taverns, look at yachts, boats, fishing boats, etc.

On the mountains above Neos Marmaras, a 15-minute drive from it, is the ancient village of Parthenonas. I highly recommend visiting. It is wonderful to meet the sunset there - the views and atmosphere of antiquity around are mesmerizing. Mountains, silence, flowers, everything is so calm, there is no hustle and bustle of the seaside Neos Marmaras. There are several ..

Cove Beach (Κοβιού)
Family beach Kovyu (Κοβιού) is located in Sithonia, it is the middle finger on the Halkidiki peninsula. The water has a greenish color and fantastic fine, besides white sand. The beach is 2 km from the beach of St. John. To get to the beach, you need to leave your vehicle in a small parking lot, next to the main road, there is a sign that points to the coast. The beach is not difficult to get to, but if you have small children you need to be careful, the path leading to the sea is narrow. Since the parking lot is small, there are always few people on the beach, even on a hot weekend in August. People usually prefer the large adjacent beaches of St. John (Αϊ Γιάννη), or Monaški (Καλόγριας). In any case, be sure to come earlier. You must have your own umbrellas, there are no sunbeds as the beach is not organized
From this beach, you can enjoy a beautiful sunset in the evening when the sky is of amazing color. Don't miss this!

I represent one of the most famous beaches of Sithonia, the so-called Armenistis beach
It is located in the eastern part of Sithonia, 15 km after Vourvourou, it is almost impossible to make a mistake in finding this beach, as a huge cluster of cars will open in front of you .. You can type in Google Earth and see the length and width of this beach, with fine velvet sand. located opposite Mount Athos.Sometimes in the evenings, in the bars along the beach, discos are organized until the morning

Tristinka beach (τριστινικα)
It's spacious sand beach, located in the southern part of Sithonia, near the village of Toroni, small White sand and the bluish green water makes an ideal contradiction with the mountainous terrain of the site.

The beach is easily accessible and there are many car parks, even in high season.

Tristinka beach stretches for one and a half kilometers. In the western part of the beach, there is a small rocky promontory with a bar. This is the old and famous Ethnik bar, which plays national music and has a wide selection of drinks and light snacks. I recommend going there in the late afternoon. If you want to watch a magnificent sunset, do not forget to have your camera with you :))
Tristinka is not only a beautiful and clean beach, but also amazing place with the characteristic nature of Sithonia

And so, I continue to present to your attention the beaches of Sithonia, on the Halkidiki peninsula. This time we will go to the southeast of Sithoni, not far from the village of Sarti, we will find a place that somewhat resembles a piece of an island, this is Kriaritsi (Κρυαρίτσι). Geographically, it is the most close beach Mount Athos. It is interesting that once, according to the idea of the local authorities, it was planned to build a small village here !!! gathering dust on the shelves in some institution ... The lawsuits dragged on for many years, and we inherited chaotically asphalt roads near the beach

Karidi Beach (Καρύδι)
This beach is considered by the Greeks to be the "diamond" of Sithonia
It can also be called an exotic beach with turquoise water and white sand.
Two small rocky promontories create a beautiful bay in the eastern part of Vourvourou, highlighting the uniqueness of this place. As the beach faces the northeast, it is protected from the southern winds that prevail in Sithonia during the summer. Thus, the water is almost always calm and warm. In addition, it is not deep there, you can walk several tens of meters into the sea.
Note that the area is small and therefore crowded during the summer, high season. Therefore, if you want to avoid the crowds, you must arrive early in the morning.
Access to the beach is easy, provided you know how to get there. There is a country road leading to the beach, but it is difficult to find signs leading to the beach.

Moving through Sithonia to her eastern part, you will notice changes in the morphology of the landscape. The place becomes rugged with fewer trees, sheer cliffs colliding with the waves of the Aegean Sea. On your way you will come across a large beach at the southern tip of Sithonia. This is Kalamitsi.
In fact, Kalamitsi is not only a beach. There are several villages, which mainly consist of apartments, villas and hotels. There are also restaurants, bars, supermarkets and other shops. So you can stay there and not just swim.
Kalamitsi place extraordinary beauty... Rocks with low vegetation are dominant, however there are trees. The sea is blue-green as always, and a sandy beach surrounded by white rocks.
Kalamitsi is a large bay, consisting of three small bays. There is a camping.

Where to stay while relaxing in Sithonia.
Of course, it is better to stay closer to the sea, to the beach:
- do not waste time to get to the sea
- you do not sit on the beach all day - I wanted to and went home to take a shower.

Now I'm talking about where the best beaches in Sithonia are.
All beaches are marked on the map and by clicking on the mark a window opens with a photo and a link to the description.

Review of the best beaches in Sithonia

There are many taverns in Toroni, several shops, a fish market in the morning, a fruit shop.

There are also several taverns with seafood on the shore and shops.
You can find and book an apartment or hotel in Trani Amuda.
I can recommend Antigoni Beach Resort with spacious rooms.

Fteroti beach is sandy with a convenient entry into the sea for families with children.
There are no tourists or random people here - the entire coast of the beach is sawn between several households.

This is the great value of this place.
Waves in this place does not exist at all: water is a mirror.

The adjacent beach with Livari is unnamed.
There are several motor boat rentals on the shore, and a little further - the northern end of the village of Vourvourou.

Peninsula Sithonia- this is the second finger of the peninsula Halkidiki(Χαλκιδική), which is located in the northeast of Greece and washed by the cleanest Aegean Sea.

Nearest airport - Thessaloniki(SKG) - if you search here. The region or province of Greece in which Halkidiki is located is called Macedonia.

Probably I will be right and hardly anyone will be able to object to me that the sea in Greece is the cleanest, most turquoise and warmest in Europe.

Only 3 hours fly from Moscow and from +21 with rains you find yourself in +35 with a blue sky above your head, which shines through the emerald of pine crowns and, in fact, you are already chest-deep in gentle, soft, warm, transparent sea water .... well, I don’t know - what other epithets to tease those who are now freezing under a gray sky in the ending summer of the middle lane Russian Federation.

Sithonia peninsula map. All beaches are marked with clickable icons: a photo of the beach and a link to its description. - with photos, ratings and reviews. It is better to immediately follow this link, since the review contains the latest information on all the beaches of Sithonia

We begin to explore this finger extended from the palm of Halkidiki.
I start with east coast.

When exploring the beaches, the smallest and cheapest car is used, which was rented at Thessaloniki airport through:

Town Nea-Moudania was the base for an expedition to eat watermelons and swim in the sea in Sithonia for only one day.
Seeing the uncrowded and beautiful beaches of Sithonia, we packed up our belongings and moved there.

We are driving along the road, noting that Tuscany is on our right (fields, cypresses, red tiles), and on the left is northern Andalusia (bushes and camel thorn).
We are driving along the road that skirts Sithonia along the east coast.

Vourvourou

The first place that comes across to us along the way is the area of beaches and islands - the region Vourvourou(Vourvourou). Call it a village, call it a beach - I call it a certain area with beaches, which has a lot of villas, cottages, guesthouses, but most of all apart-hotels: search and booking of accommodation in Vourvourou
In short: it is a large tourist area - Vourvourou.

Motor boat rental

To explore the beaches we rent motor boat(you will see rental advertisements along the road. There are many of them)
You can take a motorboat with a motor of 15, 25 hp (40 and 60 euros for the whole day) and with a 4-stroke 30 hp Mercury for 90 euros.

The best option is 30 hp and after a short briefing, which mainly concerns what they will do to you if you break the propeller - hit the road.
Moreover, you have a map of the area on board.

Actually, this map is useful - you should listen to the sailing directions so as not to bump into the stones with a plastic boat.
And without a propeller you will not finish home.

The next day we go south and the first beach on your way will be one of best beaches east coast of Sithonia.

This is the beach Bahia on which there is a private camping: you will not be allowed by car, but you can leave the car in front of the gate and walk to the sea, wondering how the Bulgarians together with the Greeks improved the territory.

The bulk of tourists are Bulgarians.
They come for a long time and come not for the first or second year in a row.
They come with their tomato seedlings and flowers, as well as boats and cottages on wheels.

The main advantage of this place is the seclusion of a small bay, silence, comfort and the purest crystal purest water almost no waves. Like in the pool.

On the territory there is a bar, there is a tavern. On the beach, you can throw a towel or a mat and spend several hours swimming until you are exhausted - you don't want to get out!

You hang in the water while standing and see under you, at a distance of 8 meters, every pebble on the bottom. This is the kind of water.

Exotic cliffs, crystal clear turquoise sea and no hotels in the area. Isn't that joy?

Swim, drink wine or gin without tonic and have fun, and then you can dine at the next destination to the south - the city Sarti(Sarti), where you can compare what it means to be a free person in a car and what it means to come to Greece on vacation.

Then we go back, stop again and swim at Bahia beach and arrive at Vourvourou, where we have dinner at a restaurant Gorgona and watch the sun setting into the sea with our eyes.

Does such a place exist on Earth? And if it does, how far? How many kilometers, miles, versts, do you need to fly, drive, walk, swim in order to finally push apart the thickets of lush vegetation, reach the cozy sandy edge of the coast, allow the gentle sea to embrace your worn-out feet, breathe in the fresh, clean mountain sea air, smile looking at the gentle play of all shades of blue, blue, green of the endless water surface and say to yourself joyfully and carefully: “There is heaven. And now I am in it ... ".

Oddly enough, but such a place is located very close to my house. Only 2 hours by plane. How long does it take? Time, during which you will not have time for anything: neither sleep, nor digest a mean, cold breakfast, nor read, nor talk. And now the chassis is confidently falling on the asphalt, it's time to unfasten the belts, go outside, it's time to feel how dry, hot air embraces you without a trace.

There is very little left, 2 hours of the road and you in Sithonia- sunny, mountainous, pine Paradise the Greek peninsula of Halkidiki. Why not Cassandra? Because it is more unspoiled, less built-up and visited by numerous organized tourists.

Is a place where everyone can find a beach to their liking, and it is not at all necessary to share it with someone shoulder to shoulder. The beaches are scattered all over the coast and among them there are enough comfortable places with sun loungers, umbrellas, bars, cafes, changing cabins, and absolutely wild, where there is nothing of this at all.

The main road goes around the peninsula in a circle. And if you set a goal, then drive along coast of Sithonia and you can return to the starting point in 3-4 hours. The road is almost 98% mountain serpentine, flat, asphalt and well marked.

One lane in one direction and one in the other, the elevation differences in some parts of the peninsula are decent, so it periodically clogs the ears. On both sides of the road, a view of the mountains overgrown with pine forests and olive trees opens up, through which the coast and azure aegean sea.

Beaches in Sithonia wonderful, the sea is excellent, clean, beautiful and calm, especially on the west coast. The east coast seemed more windy to me.

From everything I've seen, my personal rating of beaches is as follows:

1. Karidi beach on the east coast, located in the village Vourvourou undoubtedly deserves first place. Fine, yellowish "river" sand, lagoons bordered by small rocks, where it will be interesting to swim with a mask, a gentle entry into the water and an even gentle sandy bottom is ideal for children.

The beach is surrounded by pine trees, under which you can relax in the shade and coolness. There are many people, but a place can always be found. Free parking nearby. The beach is wild, so there are no umbrellas, showers or changing cabins. Vourvourou village- a place of rest "luxury people". Germans, British, rich Greeks. Very expensive, well maintained cottages for family vacation class of elites.

2. Portokali Beach (better known as Orange). Located in the center of the east coast of Sithonia. It can be difficult to find it, as there is no informative sign on the side of the Main Road. It is very similar to Karidi, only you will not sunbathe on the sand, but on huge stones and because of this there are fewer people there.

3. Toroni beach... Toroni is a resort village in the southwestern part of the peninsula and there are many beaches. Basically, all the beaches are civilized, sandy with appropriate infrastructure. The sea is calm, gentle entry into the water. But in third place I put not them, but a wild, small beach where you can find real solitude.

- one of the best civilized beaches not only on the west coast, but throughout Sithonia. Moderately gentle entry into the water, wide sandy shore, which turns into a large pine park. There is a wild and uncrowded part of the beach, where it is very comfortable to relax together.

There are roomy cafes and a see food restaurant near the beach. Nowhere do cicadas sing so deafeningly during the day as in the pines of Lagomandra, which creates a magical atmosphere and lulls you to sleep during an afternoon in their shade.

- a large sandy beach in the south-east of Sithonia. I would call it camper beach. The beach differs in that it has a steep entry into the water. I took a few steps and you are already up to your chest. During our visit, there was a slight excitement near the coast, which made the sensation while swimming spicy.

6. Livrogio Beach- located in the northeast of the peninsula. Almost all wild, very wide and long, so there is enough space for everyone. On the left, the beach is closed by a high cliff with stunning views.

7. Kalamitsu- a good, large, sandy, civilized beach with a calm sea near Kriaritsi with a lot of tourists.

8. Kalogria- sandy civilized beach is not particularly remarkable. There are many tourists.

9. Neos Marmaras beach- is located within the city limits of one of the largest settlements in Sithonia. Neos Marmaras is a typical resort town with a port, an abundance of cafes, restaurants, bars, taverns, shops and a promenade.

This is probably the only place in Sithonia where any kind of shopping and night life(there are 2 nightclubs). 5-6 km from Neos Marmaras is the picturesque village of Parthenonas, where you can observe the most beautiful sunsets in Sithonia. Many streets of Marmaras have a very steep slope, which must be taken into account when driving and parking. The beach is very long, gently sloping sea bottom but not very clean due to the abundance of tourists.
