The southernmost point of Phuket. Cape Promthep. The southernmost point of Phuket Island. Where to book a transfer from the airport

Promthep Cape is the southernmost point of Phuket Island. The cape offers a beautiful view of the Andaman Sea and part of Phuket, so this place is often called an observation deck and people come here to meet the sunsets. We did exactly the same, the first time we arrived here at sunset and we immediately liked this place very much, the second time we came here in the afternoon to look at Cape Promthep under daylight.

  • On a moped, on your own

In Thailand, it is very common to rent mopeds, as well as move them around the islands. Renting a moped usually costs 200-300 baht per day, depending on the bike model and its characteristics. From the beaches of Patong, Kata, Karon by moped to Cape Promthep, it takes about 20-25 minutes. We rode a moped from our hotel at Patong Oscar Boutique Hotel for about 25-30 minutes.

  • By taxi or tuk-tuk

You can come to Cape Promthep by tuk-tuk or taxi, in this case you better find more people who would go with you, since prices will start from 600 baht one way, depending on the place from which you go.

  • As part of the survey

In Phuket, you can get to Cape Promthep as part of sightseeing tour across the island. This option is suitable for those who are afraid to rent a moped or any other vehicle. The disadvantage of this method is that you will be limited in the time spent on the cape.

  • By public transport

In this case, you will have to walk about 2 km. From the beaches of Patong, Karon or Kata, take a bus - songteo, the fare is about 40-50 baht and go to Phuket town. Then you change to a minibus with the inscription Phuket - Rawai - Nai Harn. You will need to drive through the entire Rawai beach and exit at the end of it, before reaching Nai Harn Beach. Then turn left off the highway and walk towards Yanui Beach. Walk for about 1.5 km. After Yanui Beach, turn left uphill and walk for another 500 meters. This will be the ascent to Cape Promtep.

Cape Promthep - the best viewpoint in Phuket

Yes, and it is true, in my humble opinion, Promthep Cape is the best viewpoint in Phuket. There is a lot of space here, you can take a leisurely stroll, especially in the evening, when there is no scorching sun, and watch the sunset. Yes, there are also quite a few people here, but where are the few people in Phuket? This is the most popular island for holidays in Thailand 🙂 The Chinese, as usual, walk in crowds, while other tourists in small companies and couples.

The entrance to Cape Promthep is free, so you can come here more than once, especially if you are staying on the beaches near it.

Only a small part of tourists decide to go down the cape to the sea, so if you want to retire at least a little, you will really like this walk. We went down this path when we came to Cape Promthep for the first time, at sunset, it was no longer hot, so the walk was easy. You need to go down a small path, in some places it is not very convenient.

But, as you descend, you will have beautiful views of the Promthep Cape itself and its surrounding territory.

Agree, the views are very beautiful! Most people, and almost all of them, are up there. I recommend that you do not be lazy and walk along the cape to the sea.

On the way, you will come across such buildings made of pebbles, they say you can build your pyramid from pebbles and make a wish 🙂

Here you can take amazing photos at sunset, the main thing is that there should be a sunset 🙂

As you can see, there are no crowds of tourists here, you can enjoy the silence, watching the sun go down on the Andaman Sea. We did not notice at all how quickly time passed and now it was pitch dark and we had to climb back to Cape Promthep with a flashlight in hand.

If you do not want to go down to the cape to the sea, then you will find something to see at the top of the mountain. Many tourists come here only for a beautiful view of the sea and small islets, and do not at all notice that there is also an altar on the observation deck, around which you can see many elephants of different sizes.

Also here you can see d A working lighthouse and Krom Luang Chumphon Monument.

Tourists are taken here every day on excursions, plus locals come in the evenings to watch the sunset.

There are a lot of viewpoints, there are also several interesting sights: a lighthouse, a museum, a statue of the Hindu God Brahma.

Guided tour of the Promtep Cape

As you approach Phromthep Cape, you will find many souvenir shops geared specifically towards tourists. There are also several points where you can buy fruit and have a snack. If you like something in the shops, then you better bargain, because prices are really overpriced. For those who urgently "itch", there is an equipped toilet behind the tents.

As you go upstairs, on the left you will see a tiny temple with a statue of a seated Brahma. Tiny because it looks more like a perfume house. Surrounding it are hundreds of elephant figurines of various sizes and colors.

Brahma is the Indian God who creates our universe. In Thai it sounds like "Phrom", and "Thep" is translated as "God". Hence the name of the cape. Thais sometimes call him "Lam dzhao". The statue is made in the Thai style and differs from those installed in Hindu temples. Locals every day they bring him flowers and ornaments and come to pray.

From the equipped platform Promthep Cape, you can walk to the peninsula, from which a wider panorama of the surroundings opens. In addition, there are very few people there, because the ascent is quite difficult and many are too lazy to go up and down the bumps. If you are not too lazy to do this, you can sit on the rock with your legs dangling. There is an opportunity to go down to the water and even swim. But be careful as there are quite a few slippery stones. At high waves it is better not to meddle there - life is more expensive. The waves will easily carry it to the stones and write wasted.

It is better to come to Cape Promthep by 6 pm to meet the sunset, because it is not for nothing that the second name of the observation deck is Sunset View Point. You will see how the sun sets over the horizon and all this against the backdrop of tall palms and the sea. Don't forget your camera to capture the moment. And these photos will warm you on the dull and long winter evenings in Russia.

In fact, at Phromthep Cape, it is better to come early, around 5 pm, to see the small museum before the sunset. It is located right on the observation deck, inside the lighthouse. Built in 1996, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the reign of King Rama IX, the dome is cast from solid gold. Therefore, this place is translated from Thai as "Lighthouse of the Golden Jubilee".

At the entrance, on the left, it is written what time it will be sunrise and sunset today. To go inside, you must take off your shoes. Inside there are many ancient exhibits, one way or another connected with the sea and ships: lighthouses of various designs, navigating compasses, lanterns, etc. You can buy keychains for 20 baht in the form of a starfish or a crescent with the inscription Phuket. Be sure to climb to the very roof of the lighthouse, since only from there you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the island, as well as the entire Promthep Cape. If the sun is shining, then you will not stay there too much, because the floor heats up so much that you have to shift from foot to foot, and in some areas even dance (recall that you have to take off your shoes when entering the lighthouse).

Next to the lighthouse there is a monument to the founder of the Royal Thai Navy - Prince Chumpon. Incense and flowers are also brought here daily.

Unfortunately, words cannot describe the beauty that opens with Phromthep Cape. As they say, it is better to see once than hear a hundred times. So enjoy the photos below. And as you are in Phuket, then come to see all this splendor on your own. You will definitely like it!

Lighthouse Beach: description, video, photo

The beach at the Lighthouse is secret beach Phuket islands. It is located in the south of Phuket and follows Yanui Beach.

Its length is approximately 80 meters - it is a small beach located under big mountain near the local landmark - the Lighthouse!

In order to get to Lighthouse Beach you need to go down the mountain along a specially trodden path! The descent and especially the return will not be the easiest, so this secret coast is more suitable for people who like to overcome obstacles, and then receive a reward!

The reward will be really worthy. You will be taken to the beautiful wild beach, with the most beautiful views. And what is most interesting - you will be alone there!

There is nothing here! No umbrellas, no sun beds, no food, no water! But here there is nature untouched by man and pristine beauty!

Looking at this photo, one can easily imagine a man lying on the shore after a shipwreck thrown ashore by waves. He gets up in torn clothes, with traces of salt on his dry body, shakes himself off and does not understand where he is - is this heaven? - in general, even from a cinematic point of view, it's very cool here! There is a stage - it's up to the actors!

The flora of the beach is made up of mixed trees, mountains and rocks!

The sand here is hard, light gray in color. The entrance to the deep sea. The sea water is very clear, turquoise in color! It is windy in !

The beach is divided by the mountain into two parts, from one to the other you can walk on the water.

From the shore you will see the island of Ko Geo Yai. It has a gold-colored Buddha statue that reflects sunlight very well!

Things to do at the Lighthouse Beach (Phuket, Thailand)

Phuket Lighthouse Beach is perfect place for a photo shoot. Nature has taken care and has made such locations here, which are unlikely to be repeated by a person!

There is a coral reef here, and a good depth begins behind it - you can go snorkeling!

You can take a break from people, swim and sunbathe!

Arrange a romantic date and have some champagne for dessert!

Attractions in Lighthouse Beach

In addition to sunbathing, photographing and snorkeling on the beach at the Lighthouse, you can visit:

Promthep Cape is very popular with tourists. Tourists are brought here in whole buses - what is the reason?

The reason is that Promthep Cape is a great place to witness beautiful sunset on the island of Phuket.

There is a Lighthouse with amazing views of Yanui Beach and Nai Harn that you can visit!

There is a large souvenir shop where you can buy various exotic gifts for your family and friends.

Where to eat on the beach at the Lighthouse

You can eat at the restaurant on Promthep Cape. There is a restaurant where you can watch the sunset while enjoying a delicious dinner from the bright rays of the sunset through the glass of a glass filled with white wine!

Beach at the Lighthouse on Phuket map in Thailand

The beach is located in the south of Phuket, near Promthep Cape. You can drive up to it from either side of Route 4233. You will need to park your vehicle by the road or near the Lighthouse (there is parking here), then go down the mountain.

You can get here by a rented car, motorbike or by contacting us, and we will take you at the price of a local taxi!

Promthep Cape (Phromthep Cape) is the southernmost point of Phuket, located behind Yanui Beach. Many people call Promthep Cape one of the most beautiful places in Phuket, as well as the best viewpoint of the island, where some of the most spectacular sunsets on the island. It is difficult to disagree with all that has been said, because the views that open from here are difficult to convey in words. And therefore in the article you will find a large number of beautiful photos, because they are much better able to convey the whole picture of what is happening than the meager vocabulary of the author of the article. 🙂

And of course, here you will learn how to get to Cape Promtep, what excursions are conducted here, its location on the map and other useful nuances.

By the way, subscribe to my Instagram. There I quickly post the best photos and stories from my travels. 🙂

Cape Promthep on Phuket map

As you can see, on the map, Promthep Cape really occupies the southernmost point of the island. This part of Phuket is not as popular with tourists as the central one, so getting here on your own is more difficult, especially if you do not have a scooter or car to rent. But in principle, it is possible. Well, let's figure out which option is best for you personally.

How to get to Cape Promtep

So, there are at least several options:

  • By car or bike... This is the easiest way to get to Promtep. To get there from the side, or you can move along the main road to the south - it will be quite difficult to make a mistake here. For convenience, there are signs to the Promthep Cape on the track. It is best to download Google offline maps to your phone or install the maps.me application before the trip.
  • By public transport... I'll tell you more about this method below.
  • Taxi... Well, everything is clear, you can order anywhere.
  • As part of the review Phuket excursions... Read about them below too.

How to get to Cape Promtep by bus

To be honest, getting here by songteo (that's the name of Thai half-open buses) is a hassle. They run only until 16-17 and the nearest stop is about 2 kilometers from the cape. Those. not only will you have to drive here for an hour and a half or two, but also for 40 minutes to trudge on foot in the heat, some of which will go up a steep hill. Such a pleasure. 🙂 But if you decide, then here's a plan of action.

First you need to get from Karon and Kata to Phuket Town by a blue bus that runs along the main street that runs along these beaches. In Phuket Town, on Ranong Street, change to a minibus with the sign Phuket - Rawai - Nai Harn. Get off at the end of Rawai Beach, turn left at the crossroads and continue for 1.5 km to Yanui Beach. Well, from the Yanui beach, all that remains is to climb the hill and we will get you Promtep. Everything is business! 🙂 This trip will cost 40 baht per person in one move.

1. We personally traveled to Promtep from Kata on a bike.

Excursion to Cape Promtep

You can get to Promtep as part of a group or individual excursion in Phuket - two programs to choose from. You can order excursions online through the service. I myself have used it more than once in the most different countries where was, so I can recommend.

Excursions to Promtep:

  • Group excursion "". This tour is a group tour, in the company of no more than 12 people, and is conducted in a comfortable minibus. The program, in addition to visiting Promthep Cape, also includes visiting places such as the statue Big Buddha, Old city Phuket, Wat Chalong Temple, Rang Hill lookout. You will also visit the 5 most popular beaches of the island - Patong, Kata, Karon, Nai Harn, Rawai. The excursion is not expensive, its cost is only 28 $ or ~ 920 baht per person making it one of the cheapest excursions in Phuket.
  • Individual excursion "". The program of this sightseeing tour is in many ways similar to the previous one, but it implies a higher level of comfort, because it will be carried out on a personal auto guide and there will be no one on it besides you and your friends or family. Such a tour is worth 128 $ or ~ 4200 baht for 1-4 people... In fact, if you have 4 people, then it is more profitable to order individual tour, it will cost a little more for everyone than the group one, but in terms of quality it will be an order of magnitude steeper. You can also arrange to visit Promthep at sunset and see, if you're lucky, an unreal light show - see the pictures below. 🙂

By the way, everyone best excursions Phuket, we have collected for you in.

Promthep Cape - Travel or Die review

We got to the cape on our own on a bike with. The road between these two points is very picturesque. As soon as you pass the road, it will creep up the serpentine and on the right hand will open just gorgeous views!

2. Not the most best photo to illustrate the above, so take our word for it. 🙂

3. Near observation platform there are many shops, but I do not advise you to buy something there. Large buses are taken to this point package tourists, including a huge number of Chinese, who indiscriminately sweep products with an impressive margin.

4. The main car park is almost always crowded, but there is another one just down the road towards Patong, where no one is ever present.

5. There is a small corner for bikes, but due to the high turnover there is usually no problem finding space.

6. Alcohol and smoking are prohibited on the Cape.

7. The cape itself protrudes to the south and to reach its end you need to make a path along a very ornate and inconvenient path, but if you don't feel like doing this, you can still enjoy good views. Such, for example.

8. Or like that. This is just the tip of Promtep.

9. Descent is quite feasible, but I advise you to wear normal closed shoes. I went down in flip flops, which, in principle, confirms that it is possible to do this path anyway, but it is extremely inconvenient, so sneakers or sneakers are our everything.

10. The difficulties of the descent are compensated almost immediately - beautiful views begin to open almost immediately.

11. I look at all this beauty, and on my shoulders is a cool and inexpensive backpack, the link for the purchase of which is waiting for you here (it was the heading "product placement from God": D).

15. There is a small beach on the left side of the cape. I have never seen anyone swimming there, but the locals told me that there is still a path to it along the slope.

)

20. In this photo you can see the island of Ko Kaeo Yai - an island with a monastery, which can even be visited by taking a boat to Rawai. A little further behind it, you can see an uninhabited island. Well, on the far left, on the horizon, there is a paradise, where you can go with an excursion, plus its uninhabited brother.

21. And in this photo you can see the popular beach, small and less visited by tourists Yanui and very tiny, secret.

Sunset at Promthep Cape

Separately, I would like to tell you about the sunsets on the cape. They are some of the best here in all of Phuket and tourists from all over the island come to admire them.

24. So Promthep is not deprived of attention, but in the evenings a real pandemonium begins here.

25. People are in the front row of the show.

26. By the way, at the top of the cape you can find a functioning lighthouse, which is also a museum. You can go inside to see the exhibits, you just need to take off your shoes.

27. And also a place of worship of the Thai gods, in the form of an altar surrounded by dozens of elephants.

28. Most people congregate on the pass, next to the trail leading to the southern point of the cape. It is quite convenient to pose here against the backdrop of the setting sun, which is what people use.

29. As I wrote above, the trail is not the easiest, especially at dusk. This is confirmed by regularly placed warning stands. Be careful and don’t forget to wear closed sports shoes if you want to get to the end point of the cape.

30. And here, by the way, she is the southern point of Cape Promthep.

31. Sunset panorama. You can enlarge it by the link.

33. Most come to watch the sunset in pairs, some with friends, me - with a piece of cake.

34. The sun sets over the horizon and the sunset highlights the clouds.

35. Silhouettes.

36. Ko Kaeo Yai island with a Buddhist monastery.

Finally we got to Promthep Cape in Phuket. This is a place where it is incredibly beautiful, where landscapes hold your gaze, and the views open up such that you don't want to leave here for a very long time. That is how they would sit here all day with such a look. Perhaps Promthep Cape is the most spectacular observation deck in Phuket!

Interested in this viewpoint? Let's go further

Promthep Cape on its own under its own power

Everything is unchanged with us. We don't use a bike. Therefore, we went to Cape Promtep on foot. On the way to the cape, we met many people in sports uniforms. Although at first they thought that only we are so hardy who floated to the cape on foot.

The road here is winding, but it is not at all difficult to walk, despite the fact that it is uphill. The ascent is only 500 meters and not very steep. We made several stops along the way to catch our breath and admire the views.

It remains a little to the destination. Literally every 2-3 minutes, we stopped to take photographs as a souvenir and admire from above the Yanui beach and the uninhabited island in the distance.

Uninhabited island
Spectacular Yanui Beach from above
View from the road to Yanui Beach and Nai Harn Bay. Cool already!

Phuket Promthep Cape Observation Deck

It took 20 minutes, and we are there. Wow! There are so many of them! Chinese tourists! Just a full house. The Chinese are brought along with the excursion. Most likely a sightseeing tour of Phuket.

Chinese occupation

We have not heard Russian speakers. The Europeans, too, could be counted on one hand. So the Chinese fever is engulfing Thailand at an accelerated pace. Those who do not go to Pattaya, they fly to Phuket.

To be photographed against a pretty background, you need to wait a little so that all the Chinese have time to take pictures on it.

All tourists on the observation deck are more interested in the views, and not the altar, around which there are a large number of elephants of different sizes, and not the Luang Chumphon monument.

The operating lighthouse and Krom Luang Chumphon Monument The Chinese did not interfere with us this time, unlike. We relished every minute of our stay in this enchanting place.

Time seems to stop. Here, unlike Phuket Town, you feel with full breast that you live on an island.

Where can I book a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online, paid with a card. At the airport we were greeted with a sign with our name. Drove to the hotel in a comfortable car. We have already talked about their experience in this article.

Canoeing around the headland and nearby island

And now you are at the southernmost point of Phuket. Further only the ocean.

Previously, the inhabitants of the island called this place the Cape of God

You look at the sea and think that the ancient people believed that life was only on their island, and beyond the horizon there was an endless void.

We went down a little. Not all tourists already reach this place.
We found a comfortable stone in the shade, sat and thought about life. We thought about how the beauty of Asia could be exchanged for Europe.

Now it's harder to find observation deck that would surpass this

Photo Cape Promtep

Here you can go down to the very edge, but we did not drag ourselves there in the heat, and the path there is stony and long. We did not go dodging over bumps. We have seen enough.

Cape Promtep: reviews

But enough of the lyrics, otherwise I will soon start writing poetry about this place, it touched me so powerfully. Promthep Cape was included in the list of the most beautiful places that I have seen in my entire life. Be sure to visit Cape Promtep on your own or with a guided tour. Photos from this place will warm my soul for a long time. There is such beauty here.
