The easiest way to do this is in the midst of tourist season, because from June 5 to September 10, a direct train (more precisely, a trailer car) runs here from Moscow. The rest of the time, direct trains do not run to Montenegro and will have to be content with a trip with transfers.

Point of arrival straight car- the coastal Montenegrin town of Bar (trains do not go to Budva from Moscow). He leaves Moscow as part of a train going through Kiev to Budapest with Kievsky railway station... Further, this car is re-hooked and it becomes part of the Prague-Belgrade train, which in a matter of hours is on the territory of Serbia, in the city of Novi Sad. Here the car is again re-hooked and it goes to the end point as part of the Novi Sad-Bar train.

The total travel time is 61 hours 16 minutes. The train arrives in Montenegro in the morning at 10.46, which, on the one hand, is very convenient, since you can sleep and not jump out awake on the platform, but on the other hand, it will most likely be already hot and, perhaps, not very comfortable to travel.

From Bar, you can easily get to any of the local buses or private taxis. resort town. Bus station(autobuska stanica) Bar is a 5-minute walk from the railway station, so if you have a little luggage, you can get there by yourself. To do this, you just need to walk straight down the street from the main entrance to the station. The train journey from Montenegro to Moscow will take a little more time - 62 hours and 26 minutes.

From Moscow the train departs on Mondays, Fridays and Wednesdays, and from Bar on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

At the same time, a round-trip ticket for one adult in a 1st class carriage will cost 252.3 euros, a round-trip ticket - 468 euros, and in a 2nd class carriage: 217.7 euros and 398.8 ... Among other things, you will additionally have to issue a Hungarian transit visa, which will cost an additional 35 euros per person. This can be done at the Hungarian embassy by presenting train tickets to Montenegro.

The entire route of the trip is well thought out and on the way to Montenegro, the train almost never stops for a long time. The carriage with passengers traveling to Bar is quickly interconnected and only in Budapest the waiting time is about 2 hours. However, this time can be spent very pleasantly, getting to know the sights Hungarian capital which are in close proximity to the train station.


The cost of a trip on such a direct train to Montenegro, depending on the class of the carriage, will not cost much less than a flight by plane. But you can see a lot of things, but the time of the long-awaited vacation at sea will also be reduced. The second option is to get to Montenegro by train with transfers. In this case, you need to take a train from Moscow to the capital of Serbia - Belgrade, and from there get to the place of travel. The train from Belgrade goes through Podgorica, again to Bar.

The journey from Moscow to Belgrade by train will take 47 hours and 22 minutes, and the trailed carriage runs all year round and every day. Here you can stay for several hours or even days (since the train arrives at 20.52) to inspect this ancient city.

The fare in a 1st class carriage "there" will be 200.7 euros, "round trip" - 368.9 euros, and in a 2nd class carriage - 170.1 and 303.6 euros, respectively. To travel in this carriage, you will again need to remember to apply for a Hungarian transit visa, if you do not have another multi-Schengen visa in your passport.

You can leave for Bar without any problems any day - the train to the coast of Montenegro departs from here at least twice a day (at 9.10 am and 20.10 pm), and during the tourist season their number increases. The evening train runs all night and there you can comfortably accommodate in comfortable sleeping places, but the day train only has seats.

This difference is due to the fact that although people go to Montenegro high-speed trains, for various reasons, trains often stop on the route, let other trains pass, and they do not travel fast at all, slowing down even more in numerous tunnels.

By the way, the carriages on this train are quite good, all are equipped with an air conditioning system, sometimes even working too well. On the summer time this train is also attached to special platforms for transporting passenger cars. This service will cost an additional € 30.

The second weak point of the Belgrade-Bar train may be the fact that despite the official ban on smoking in carriages, some thirsty people still smoke. Therefore, you run the risk of waking up after a night move in a state close to a state like after a good night party, which you do not remember much about. I am glad that this rarely happens!


Fortunately, international trains differ for the better from those that run in our country on domestic routes. The equipment of the carriages, of course, may differ, but most compartments are equipped with washbasins, hangers, air conditioners, refrigerators and even showers.
