How much water can you take on a plane? How much liquid can I carry in carry-on baggage and checked baggage (2018). Carry-on baggage allowance for Russian airlines

After the terrorist attacks in Great Britain, a clear program of combating extremists was developed and very strict restrictions on the transport of liquids on the plane were introduced since 2007.

General requirements- in hand luggage in the aircraft cabin passenger at will can take no more than one liter of liquid, packaged in at least 10 bottles or containers, packed in one transparent bag with a fastener or a large transparent cosmetic bag. We clarify that each vial or container can be full or half empty, but the volume should be no more than 100ml, less please. These requirements must be met on domestic or departing flights to the United States, EU countries, Russia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Cyprus, Asia and the Middle East.

So, recall that liquids include:
- cosmetics (shampoos, foams, gels, lotions, sunburn oil, nourishing masks ...);
- perfumes (perfumes, colognes, air fresheners, deodorants, mascara, lipstick ...)
- food and drinks (alcohol, juices, soups, honey and jam, mashed potatoes and everything else that is not free-flowing like sugar or cereals);

There are large special boxes at the airport, where everything is thrown after inspection - everything that resembles a liquid exceeds the requirements and norms. Favorite haute couture perfumes and shampoos suffer the same fate - khana cosmetics. You cannot violate the rules for carrying liquid on the plane, buzz - they will not be allowed on the flight. Therefore, it is very convenient to take your favorite cosmetics and perfumes in a disposable package on the road, or use empty bottles of vitamins or medicines, the volume has already been indicated - you do not need to bother. Pack the rest in large containers in luggage. Difficulties await only those who fly without luggage, here you will have to buy either on the spot or in Duty Free boutiques. Keep this in mind when packing your bag for the trip.

Restrictions on the amount of liquid in carry-on baggage do not apply to baby or diet food, medicine and dietary supplements, lens fluids required during the flight. Additional baby food in bottles or vacuum cans, water, milkshakes, juices on the road are allowed for children only up to 3 years old. At airport security, you may be asked to taste a liquid that is in doubt.

The need for medicines for personal use, dietary supplements (if they are classified as medicines), dietary nutrition must be confirmed by a doctor's opinion and a prescription. When flying to the Schengen countries, a form under Article 75 must be filled out.

If you are flying with a child and want to insure yourself against any force majeure situations (flight delays, etc.), then on the road you can take with you two packages with the usual juices and drinks - one that meets all flight safety rules, take with you into the aircraft cabin, and the second smaller one will be used in the waiting area. Any juices drinking water can be additionally purchased in the duty-free zone, prices are almost always affordable.

Always remember that on a plane you can take purchases from Dyutik only in branded sealed packaging and a receipt, and open only during the flight. On low-cost airlines only one carry-on baggage, therefore, the bags with the purchase must be put in the bag hand luggage... According to frequent flyer reviews, the most low prices at Duty Free in London, Rome, Frankfurt and Munich.

Aquarists have suffered greatly from the introduction of norms for the transport of liquid: - before the fish could be freely transported in the cabin, but now fig. You can only fry or small ones - 50 ml of liquid is poured into an airtight individual bag, the fry is allowed in - the rest is pumped in with oxygen, or air for labyrinth fish. Traveler fish survive for two days. When they fly in the cabin, no problem, and in the luggage compartment they will be frozen or crushed during loading.

On a trip, you can take a travel water filter - it is very convenient, especially since you need to drink a lot of liquid during the flight so that the blood does not thicken.
Often, instead of baby food on the flight, it is better to take a dry mixture, a sippy cup, a sippy cup, a device for warming food, and a flight attendant will always bring hot water, and put a refrigerator bag for food in luggage.

The amount of liquid allowed for export or import into a country in baggage is indicated in the customs code of a particular country.
For example, when flying within the EU countries, you can import duty-free:
- 110 liters of beer or
- 90 liters of wine or,
- 60 liters of sparkling wine or,
- 10 liters of alcoholic drinks with an alcohol strength of more than 22% or;

and when importing alcohol into Spain from outside the EU, completely different norms apply:
beer -16 liters or wine - 4 liters
or strong alcohol only 1 liter.

And from Moldova you can export no more than 2 liters of wine for personal drinking, and 5 liters of beer. When transporting alcohol, you need to clarify the export rate from the country of departure and the import rate of alcohol in the country of arrival. They must either match, or your transported alcohol must meet the minimum standard, otherwise there may be trouble. A purely everyday story - one tourist in memory of her beloved country took with her 5 liters of original fragrant wine, specifying the export rate - all within the framework of the law. She flew to her home country, she was checked with a scanner and braked for smuggling, since according to the rules of her home country, only 2 liters can be imported duty-free, for the rest a fine, confiscation and an article of the UG.

In addition, some a / c have special requirements for the transport of liquids in luggage, for example, “AEGEAN AIRLINES” in the luggage compartment carries liquids only if they are packed in wooden casing.

Only adult passengers can carry alcohol.

In 2014, special equipment that will detect explosives will be installed at the airports of the EU countries. This will remove restrictions on the transport of liquids and alcohol. Finally, instead of a stoper, it will be possible to freely take half a liter of a real dear and come off in flight, and in general, all restrictions on the transport of high-quality and natural drinks are introduced so that people forget that they are.

Hand luggage... What can and can not be taken on the plane?

Carry-on baggage raises many questions. To avoid unpleasant boarding situations, learn about basic safety requirements and airline restrictions on luggage on board. Prohibited items, number of seats, size and weight of carry-on baggage, rules for carrying liquids, food and medicine.

What can you take on the plane

If carry-on baggage is not the only baggage with which you fly, then you should take with you on the plane only the most valuable and necessary on the road from the allowed for carriage:

  • money
  • bank cards
  • the documents
  • equipment and gadgets (phone, camera, computer, tablet)
  • jewelry
  • fragile items

The rest of the contents of carry-on baggage depends on the airline's baggage requirements and your desire to carry it all. Take the test What can I take on board?

All relevant information about the rules for carrying hand luggage is posted on the websites of airports and airlines. Safety standards are mandatory for everyone, and the number of seats, weight and size of carry-on baggage are regulated by airlines.

What you can't take in your carry-on baggage

It is prohibited to carry dangerous items and substances in the aircraft cabin and checked baggage:

  • weapon
  • flammable substances and liquids
  • liquefied gases
  • explosives
  • toxic / radioactive / poisonous / corrosive substances
  • stabbing and sharp objects

You cannot carry seemingly harmless household items in your carry-on baggage: a corkscrew, a file with sharp edges and nail clippers, scissors, tweezers, a straight razor, a folding knife, a corkscrew, knitting needles. All this must be checked in, and if not, then look for alternatives or buy it on the spot. For example, an electric shaver or a razor with interchangeable blocks is allowed in carry-on luggage, and nail files are soft.

Rules for carrying liquids in carry-on baggage

How much liquid can i carry?

Unless additional security measures have been introduced, it is allowed to carry liquids with a total volume of 1 liter in packages of no more than 100 ml in hand luggage. You can carry any amount of liquids in your baggage in any volume.

Liquids include: water, drinks, creams, lotions, aerosols, gels, foams, pastes, etc. Cosmetics (mascara, lip gloss) are also liquids. Please note that if the 200 ml shampoo bottle is half full, then it cannot be brought in. The fluids of people flying together are not cumulative.

Exception: baby food necessary for a child during the flight; medications and dietary food with a certificate / prescription from a doctor.

Where to get 100 ml containers?

Do not throw away shampoos and shower gels from hotels. Most beauty brands sell or give away with the purchase of mini cosmetic kits. You can buy a set of liquid containers and fill them with your own funds.

When passing safety control, liquids must be presented separately in a transparent resealable bag. You can buy a package that suits your requirements in office supply stores (file with a zip), a bag for storing food with a Zip-Lock lock or a transparent cosmetic bag with a zipper will do. Some airlines impose additional restrictions on the size of the package with liquids: 20x20cm, 18x20cm.

Changes to the rules for the carriage of liquids

During the Sochi Olympics, the Federal Air Transport Agency imposed a complete ban on the transport of liquids on airplanes. V different countries restrictions may apply - check the latest information before departure. If during pre-flight security it turns out that you have violated the rules for transporting liquids, you will be offered to dispose of the prohibited item yourself (throw it into a special container). Discussions on this topic are useless, they can lead to being late for boarding or being removed from the flight.

Food in carry-on luggage

You can take on board fruits, nuts, hard cheese, sausage, muesli bars, sandwiches. Carry-on baggage should not contain products prohibited for carriage by customs regulations and liquids with a volume of more than 100 ml. Water and food can be bought after going through pre-flight security in the "clean zone", food and drinks on board are offered by most airlines (included in the ticket or purchased separately). You can take an empty water bottle with you and ask the flight attendant to refill it.

Medicines in carry-on baggage

It is allowed to carry medicines in their original packaging in carry-on baggage. Check in advance if your medicines are approved in the country of destination. If medication is prescribed by a doctor, it is better to take it with you. Liquid medicines (gels, aerosols, ointments, ampoules) are subject to the rules for transporting liquids - no more than 100 ml. If the medication is vital, notify the airport staff and present a doctor's note or a medical history statement.

Number of pieces of hand luggage

The number of hand luggage items is regulated by the airline. As a rule, it is allowed to take 1 piece of baggage into the aircraft cabin. Business and first class passengers are allowed to carry 2 pieces of carry-on baggage. Most large aviation companies do not count as a separate place a handbag or a men's briefcase, umbrella, laptop, suit or dress in a garment bag.

Low-cost airlines have strict baggage requirements, following the rule: 1 person = 1 piece of carry-on baggage. The exception is folding baby carriages, crutches, outerwear. It is almost always allowed to take on board a package of Duty Free.

Size and weight of carry-on baggage

The dimensions and weight of baggage that you can take on board the aircraft also depend on the requirements of the airline, the class of the ticket and the route of the flight. Hand luggage can be a small suitcase, backpack, bag.

Standard size requirements for carry-on baggage: no more than 115 cm in the sum of three dimensions (55 × 40 × 20 cm). Hand luggage weight 5-10 kg. Example: A suitcase of a standard size for transportation in the cabin of an aircraft.

At the airport, it is always possible to check the weight at the free included check-in counter and transfer the extra pounds to the checked baggage. If you are only flying with carry-on baggage, there will be no such chance, so check the weight of your carry-on baggage at home on a bathroom scale. Low-cost airlines check luggage in a frame, it must completely fit into it with wheels and handles.

About transportation of sports equipment, musical instruments and other oversized items, check with your airline. Before you buy something on a trip, think about whether there is free space in your luggage, you will have to pay extra for the excess.

Pros of Traveling Light

  • You save on airfare.
  • Items in your carry-on baggage are guaranteed to fly with you (if you do not leave them unattended and do not forget).
  • You don't have to stand at the front desk (in most cases).
  • You don't have to wait for your baggage to be picked up, so you are the fastest to leave the airport and reach your destination.

Are you visiting?

80% of people are unaware of their debts. Check your debts online and pay off your debts at least 2 weeks before departure.

To begin with, let's figure out what carry-on luggage is in general, and why airlines place such serious demands on it.

Carry-on baggage is a small bag, suitcase or backpack that the passenger takes with him on board the aircraft without checking it into the luggage compartment. All airlines have strict regulations that this baggage must comply with.

The dimensions of hand luggage are the same for both low-cost airlines and expensive companies - it is approximately 50 x 40 x 20 centimeters. In this case, the weight is from 5 to 10 kilograms. These numbers are there for a reason; most planes have the compartments for this luggage right above the heads of passengers - they are located approximately the same as on any bus. The compartment runs along the entire length of the aircraft and is divided into equal parts. Each of them should fit three bags - one for each passenger.

If someone puts too large a bag in this compartment, then there is no room for other people. You have to put things in your feet or a passage - an hour-long flight in this position can be tolerated, but a ten-hour flight is already very difficult.

How much liquid can I take in my carry-on baggage?

You can take one liter of liquid on the plane, which must be packaged in separate containers with a volume of 100 ml.

It is important to know that on airplanes the word “liquid” is understood not only directly to water, juices, tea or other drinks. This also includes perfumes, eau de toilette, creams, oils, varnishes, scrubs and several dozen other cosmetic products.

In many stores today, you can easily buy special kits for transporting liquids on an airplane. They usually include containers for everything that we usually take with us on the road. These kits are made of transparent plastic and are immediately packed in a cosmetic bag for easy transportation.

Another option is to buy a travel kit of cosmetics, which are available from most large companies. This is very convenient if you do not need any specific tools. The cosmetics are already packaged according to all standards, they do not need to be poured.

Low-cost companies are the most attentive to compliance with all regulations. For any excess they have rather large fines, so the luggage is checked very carefully.

This restriction does not apply to products that were purchased in the duty free free zone. All goods from there, including water, perfume and alcohol, can be carried on the plane. But remember that if you have planned transfers on the way, then problems may arise with these products - it is better to clarify all the information on this in advance.

Can there be exceptions?

The plane is the most safe transport in the world. This security is largely due to the strictest rules, of which almost no exceptions are made. It is useless to swear with airport employees and try to return what was confiscated - the most aggressive passengers can be detained and then you simply will not fly away.

An exception can be made only in case of vital necessity - if it is a medicine or other liquid that is badly needed by a sick person. Even in this case, you need to prepare and take a certificate from the doctor in advance that the patient really needs this drug.

Also on board is sometimes allowed to take special water, baby food or medicines for children. However, this issue is resolved in each specific case separately and often directly depends on the airport employee who conducts the inspection.

What is generally forbidden to take in carry-on baggage?

The list of things that are forbidden to take on the plane is actually rather big. Basically, airport workers have full authority to take anything from you. The only reason can be that this item can harm the passengers or the crew in any way.

  • Anything that burns is explosives or something that quickly and easily ignites.
  • Any kind of flammable fuel such as diesel and gasoline.
  • Solvents of paints, directly paints;
  • Alkalis, acids, poisons, other chemicals that are toxic, corrosive or corrosive.
  • It is forbidden to take any canned food on the plane, even if its volume does not exceed 100 ml;
  • Radioactive substances, mercury, chlorine and other components that can evaporate toxic fumes;
  • Alcoholic drinks or other liquids containing more than 70% alcohol;
  • Gas cartridges;
  • Firearms, their models and even toy copies. Even if the owner has permission and all documents with him, such items must still be checked in. Models and toys fall under this rule for safety and peace of mind on board;
  • Any kind of fireworks, lists, lighters, ammunition;

Important! Before packing, check again if the country you are traveling to has its own baggage regulations. Some states have rather strange restrictions on the import and export of various substances. Such nuances are not reported when buying a ticket, so it is better to find out about them yourself. All these norms are created solely for the safety of passengers, so you should not be offended by the harsh rules - they reduce to a minimum the risk that something will go wrong on board.

Detailed information on all the nuances of transporting liquids on airplanes can be found in videos on YouTube. Here is one of them -

Hand luggage Is baggage that a passenger can carry in the cabin of the aircraft free of charge, and which is not a source of danger to other passengers. Moreover, the carriage of hand luggage on the plane is regulated as follows:

  • The dimensions and norms of hand luggage are set by the air carrier;
  • Items in carry-on baggage must comply with international requirements.

Carry-on baggage: free allowances

What else can you bring as carry-on baggage?

A passenger in the aircraft cabin can take the following items in addition to hand luggage:

  • Outerwear, dress / suit in a garment bag;
  • Umbrella (except for beach);
  • Folder for papers;
  • Ladies' handbag, men's briefcase;
  • Photo camera, laptop, camcorder;
  • Mobile phone;
  • Baby food;
  • Baby vehicles: carrycot (no more than 10 kg), stroller, within the limits of carry-on baggage;
  • Printed publications (books, newspapers for reading in flight);
  • Walking sticks, crutches, stretchers, wheelchairs and other orthopedic aids;
  • Bouquet of flowers;
  • Goods from the "Duty Free" store.

Carrying on liquids in carry-on baggage

Allowed to be carried in carry-on baggage the following types liquids:

  • Water, juices, drinks, honey, jam, etc .;
  • Lotions, cosmetic oils, creams, gels;
  • Perfumery products (eau de toilette, perfume, cologne);
  • Aerosol cans, which are substances permitted for carriage;
  • Pressurized containers (shaving foam, deodorants, etc.);
  • Cosmetics (mascara, toothpastes, etc.);
  • Other non-prohibited liquids of similar consistency.

Restrictions on liquids carried in carry-on baggage

Maximum liquid volume, lotion, cream, oil, etc. - 100 ml

Obligatory packaging of bottles with liquids in a transparent bag with a lock. The total maximum volume of all liquids is 1 liter in 1 bag.

1 passenger can only take in hand luggage 1 packet of liquids.

Particular attention should be paid to such a moment. When transporting liquids vial volume should also be less than 100 ml. If you are carrying 60 ml in a 120 ml container in your carry-on baggage, the security service may remove such a product from your luggage.

Lockable bags for all items to be packed can be found at airports at the entrance or in front of the security screening area.

As an exception, they do not fit into the norm baby food, if it will be used on the plane, as well as medicines, without which it would be impossible to fly. Sometimes a doctor's prescription may be asked for the medicines being transported.

The flight safety service sometimes allows you to take liquids on board the aircraft. more than indicated above, but then additional verification is carried out.

All liquids with a volume of more than 100 ml and a total volume of more than 1 liter can be carried in baggage.

At the airports Russian Federation From 01/06/2014 to 04/01/2014, an absolute ban was introduced on the transport of liquids in the cabin of the aircraft. From 2.04.2014 the restriction was lifted.

Liquids in carry-on baggage and nuances

Many parents, recovering, are especially worried about transporting drinks for their children in the cabin. Usually, small children are allowed on the plane with liquids without taking into account general restrictions.

There are nuances when buying goods in duty-free shops "Duty Free" and the subsequent transfer during a transit flight.

As you know, passengers have the right to purchase drinks, perfumes and other goods from the above list in duty-free shops. At the same time, formally, all these goods must be hermetically packed or sealed in the Duty Free store itself or on board the aircraft. Packages must remain unopened until the end of the flight. Checks from Duty Free shops should be kept until the end of the flight.

In practice, some stores are limited to just a regular package with their own logo, without sealed packaging. Arriving in another country (for example, Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey), when boarding a domestic flight, the passenger can either be asked to hermetically wrap their goods from the careless Duty Free store, or to part with them before boarding. If perfumery and cosmetics can still be packed in the offered bags with a lock, then large bottles of alcohol will not fit there. Airport staff suggest packing in baggage wrap.

There may be several options:

  • Require that your purchases be sealed at the Duty Free store if you know you are on a transit flight;
  • Pack in baggage film (20 liras);
  • Pack in plastic wrap, which you will have to take with you in advance;
  • Parting with a cherished purchase from the Duty Free store.

Sometimes airlines introduce their own standards, which may differ from international ones. Before buying a ticket or before flying, familiarize yourself with the baggage allowance of this air carrier, as well as its requirements for hand luggage, items that are allowed or prohibited for carriage.

Agree, traveling light is cheaper and easier than with a large and heavy suitcase. Especially if you have to move from one city to another and visit several places. In this sense, abandoning bulky luggage in favor of light and compact carry-on luggage is the best solution.

Earlier, in the article about, we already talked about what can be considered carry-on baggage. Let me remind you once again that these are things that passengers take with them on the plane free of charge. But not in any quantity, but within strictly established limits in weight and size, which allow you to place luggage in the aircraft cabin under the seat, on a special luggage rack or in a special locker. It can be a small suitcase, backpack, bag, plastic bag or basket, and all responsibility for the safety of the baggage in this case rests with its owner.

Size and weight of carry-on baggage on the plane

In the Rules air transportation after the amendments were made (order of the Ministry of Transport dated November 5, 2017), the minimum allowance for hand luggage was prescribed for Russian airlines.

Previously, the dimensions of hand luggage and the weight limit were set by the airlines themselves. For some carriers, this norm was just scanty, according to it, it was allowed to take on board only small bags with documents. According to the new rules, a passenger with a ticket (regardless of their fare and flight) can be guaranteed to take at least 5 kg of hand luggage on board for free.

It is impossible to reduce the established minimum of 5 kg, worsening the conditions for passengers, but to increase it if the air carriers wish, please. These parameters are often determined by the company's policy and depend on its requirements, tariff, route, flight distance.

Most often, Russian carriers have a carry-on baggage weight limit of 10 kg in economy class and 15 kg in business class. Acceptable dimensions - 55 x 40 x 20 cm (for example, in Aeroflot - 55 × 40 × 25 cm). Such dimensions allow you to place things in the cabin without problems, without causing inconvenience to passengers.

There are more varied limits and tolerances for the size and weight of bags (from 5 to 18 kg) allowed for transportation on board foreign carriers. They can be very different from each other.

But it happens that even with cheap tickets, very generous allowances for hand luggage are sometimes provided. Therefore, before buying a ticket, you need to find out what the maximum allowed dimensions and weight are provided for at the selected fare. This information (which is often available in Russian from foreign companies) can be found on the official website of the carrier.

Such preliminary awareness allows you to avoid unpleasant moments at the airport in the form of large surcharges for things that, if the established norms are exceeded, must be checked in luggage on the terms of the carrier, or getting rid of some things urgently. You won't be able to pay extra for extra weight of hand luggage.

It is especially worth paying attention to and checking with the carrier the conditions for the carriage of hand luggage in the presence of special bonus programs and for tickets purchased from budget companies. By saving on a cheap ticket, you can later spend a lot more.

And if this is a trip to another country, then you need to know not only the rules of your country, but also the states where you plan to enter.

To help you, we present a table with the allowance for hand luggage in some domestic and foreign airlines.

What can I carry in my carry-on baggage?

In addition to free 5 kilograms, passengers can carry some other things and items with them, also without paying anything for their transportation in the cabin - these are personal belongings of the passenger not packed in a bag / suitcase, the list of which is defined in clause 135 of the Federal Aviation Rules, updated by the Order Ministry of Transport No. 409.

From what was not there before, the new list added backpacks, duty free purchases (albeit with a certain caveat) and medicines to handbags and briefcases.

Also, free of charge in excess of the allowable carry-on baggage allowance:

  • packed suit - garment bag
  • bouquet of flowers
  • outerwear
  • food for the child in the required amount
  • crutches, stroller, walker, carrycot, folding wheelchair and other items provided that they can be placed under the seat in front of the chair.

But something has disappeared from the new list. These are such necessary gadgets for the traveler as phones, cameras, camcorders, laptops, as well as umbrellas and books. The developers of the law explain this by the fact that all this can be carried free of charge as carry-on luggage (of course, if they fit into its norm), by removing it in the same briefcase, handbag or backpack. But in fact, this reduces the number of allowed free pounds for other things.

Although, as before, there is a small loophole for passengers. Some of the items that are not taken into account in any way, not being hand luggage or additionally allowed things, can be carried free of charge in the pockets of the passenger's clothes.

Among the innovations: at airports, control over the weight and dimensions of additional items and hand luggage has been strengthened. This is especially true of that part of passengers who use electronic registration... Naturally, such a check is done selectively, for example, if a bag or suitcase raises some doubts about permissible weight or dimensions.

Airline employees can easily weigh hand luggage not only at check-in, but also before the passenger is ready to leave the airport building before boarding, and even at the airport of arrival. Technically, this is not at all difficult to do. If the baggage does not fit into the size control frame, or the scales at the boarding gate show more, then it may not get on board.

According to the new rules, the “carry-on luggage” tag is not attached to passengers' belongings.

Of course, among the things that are delivered by the passenger to the cabin, there should be nothing that would violate the rules of safe transportation.

What cannot be carried in carry-on baggage?

Safety standards are not always the same. In each country (and even at different airports), in addition to general rules, private norms have been developed. But the differences are mainly in some small details and nuances. Somewhere airport workers will make an exception for some items, while in others they will force them to throw them out unconditionally.

In general, the lists of things allowed and prohibited for carrying in hand luggage are similar. Nevertheless, for your own peace of mind and in order not to be trapped, it is better not to be lazy and get acquainted with the intricacies of carrying hand luggage and baggage in the selected airline.

As for Russian carriers, the basic list of prohibited items is contained in Appendix No. 1 of the Rules for conducting pre-flight and post-flight inspections No. 104 of 25.07.2007. This list is long enough. In short, nothing poisonous, flammable, nothing that can be pricked or cut, no scissors, knives, corkscrews, knitting needles, razors, blades and other potentially dangerous tools, substances and objects.

Some seeds, live plants, soil cannot be imported into the country (the law "On plant quarantine", Article 16 is in force). Certain types of pets cannot be transported without the consent of the carrier. It is not recommended to carry dummy weapons on board. And even the child's favorite toy in the form of a pistol is better to put in luggage.

Special rules have been developed for the transport of liquids, food and medicine. Here, in addition to the general rules, there are customs regulations states. And, of course, they need to be clarified.

Rules for carrying liquids in carry-on baggage

This category includes not only drinks and water, but also all kinds of creams, gels, deodorants, sprays, mascara, toothpaste, various oils and paints, lipstick, shaving foam, soups, canned food, jams, soft cheeses, homemade products, honey, caviar, yoghurts, sauce, pate, jelly, cottage cheese, sour cream, drops, ointments and more.

Much of the above can be carried in hand luggage, but subject to a number of conditions:

  • Anything that exceeds the volume of 100 ml must be removed and disposed of.
  • All containers with packed liquid (cosmetics, food, medicine) must be transported in a transparent bag (20 x 20 cm) with a fastener. The total volume of all liquid substances contained in it should not exceed 1 liter.

Obviously, everything that fits into the permitted norm and does not fall on the list of categorically prohibited items or substances can be taken on board. If among them there are those that cannot be carried in hand luggage (exceeding the volume of 100 ml, nail scissors, nail files and other items), check them in as checked baggage, if there are no obstacles in their transportation in it.

And if the hand luggage is the only baggage of the passenger, then, apparently, you will have to part with something or leave it at the airport in the storage room.

There are exceptions to the rules for transporting liquids - these are baby food, vital necessary medications and goods (drinks, perfumes, gels) from duty-free shops. They are allowed to be transported in larger volumes.

Duty Free Products

Duty Free products of regular consistency can be eaten on board. As for liquid products (and other liquids - perfumes, alcoholic beverages), it should be borne in mind that when departing from some countries (Russia, EU, Canada, USA, Singapore and others), the package from the duty-free shop of the airport of departure should be transported only sealed and sealed. The same rule applies if there are transfers on the way. You cannot print the package until the passenger has arrived at the destination and left the airport in the city.

If the liquid products were purchased outside the EU in Duty Free, then in the event of a transplant in any of the EU countries, the limitation on the volume of liquid will apply to them.

If this is going abroad, the main rule is to clarify which medications can be brought in, in principle, without violating the customs rules of the country of entry. It happens that some drugs that are freely purchased at their own pharmacy are banned in other countries.

After reviewing the composition of drugs for the presence of prohibited substances in them, the second thing to do is to select those drugs that will be required on board. Put the rest in your luggage.

Some aspects of carrying medicines in carry-on baggage:

  • packaging must be original;
  • for some of the medicines being transported, a prescription is required (a certificate from a doctor);
  • when transporting drugs that contain a psychotropic or narcotic substance, you must take a prescription indicating its name in Latin. Such a medicine is declared when imported into another country (you need to go through customs through the red corridor);
  • medicines in the form of ointments, liquids, gels, creams, syrups, aerosols are transported in containers up to 100 ml. Essential medicines for medical indications if you have a prescription and other documents from a doctor, you can take in the right amount.

Carrying food

With regard to domestic flights, you can carry any products, as long as they do not violate the norm in terms of weight and dimensions and general rules transportation of liquids.

If it is international flights(when flying between countries or when traveling with transfers), then everything is not so simple here. The import and export regulations of each visiting country come into effect. Therefore, when planning such a trip, it is necessary not only to familiarize yourself with the rules of export and import at the customs of the Russian Federation, but also to study the requirements of customs control in the country of destination or transfer, which are sometimes very specific.

So, for example, it is not allowed to import dairy and meat products into the EU countries. US Customs does not allow most goods and products from other countries Agriculture... In some countries, there are restrictions on the export of any products.

Some foods are banned due to their strong and unpleasant odor, such as durian. From time to time, fruits, vegetables, dry grass, herbs, nuts, tea, regulated products of animal husbandry and plant growing are banned. There are restrictions on the export of fish, seafood, and caviar from Russia.

In any case, if there are doubts about the legality of the import and export of a particular product from Russia, you can refer to the official source (website of the Federal Customs Service).

  • it is not allowed to bring home products and not in their original packaging;
  • all products belonging to the category of liquid must be transported without breaking the Rules: no more than 100 ml in one package;
  • Strongly smelling foods should be well wrapped in plastic wrap or a sealed bag.

Each carrier sets its own standards for baby food for small passengers, while taking into account that general restrictions on the carriage of liquid products do not apply for babies under 2 years old. Therefore, for this category of children, you can safely take milk, juice, baby food, water in any quantity with you: the main thing is that there is enough for the entire flight, taking into account transfers.

If the flight is long (more than 3 hours), as a rule, you don't have to worry about going hungry. They can feed not even once, but twice. Many carriers offer preschool meals on board, which must be ordered in advance.

However, it will not be superfluous to grab something tasty and favorite for a snack in reasonable quantities. Children (like adults) love to have a snack with dried fruits, fresh fruits and vegetables, sandwiches, cookies, nuts, and chocolate. Everything should be well packed, and vegetables, bread and fruits should be sliced (you cannot use a knife in the cabin of the plane).

This is especially true if the flight is short, takes place on low-cost flights or with tickets at special promotional fares.

It is worth taking care of what to eat for those who require special nutrition (for example, allergy sufferers). Not all flights offer a special menu.

There are always a lot of questions related to the carriage of baggage and hand luggage, and even for experienced travelers... This is partly due to the fact that there is no single document on aviation security that would be applied by airlines around the world. These rules are developed and established by international organizations, laws within each country, airlines and airports.

As for Russian air transportation, many answers can be found in the "General Rules for Air Transportation" dated June 28, 2007, as amended on October 5, 2017 (Order of the Ministry of Transport No. 409).
