Railway carriage marking. Service classes on Russian Railways trains and carriage categories. Features of individual cars

Long-distance trains are only apparently the same: the level of comfort inside is very different. In a compartment, reserved seat,
the suite has offers with different services. Bathroom, shower, air conditioner, sanitary kits, press -
the fare depends on the volume of service, as well as the level of comfort.

soft, like on an airplane. Optimal for short distances.

When going on a train trip, it is important to know which class of carriages to choose. They all differ in and directly affect the cost of the trip. On each train ticket there is an alphanumeric icon. For example, 3O or 1C. It indicates the class of the carriage and the list of additional services included in the price. In this article, we will consider the marking of cars developed by the Federal Passenger Company (a subsidiary of Russian Railways). Remember that other rail carriers may use different designations.

RIC cars are included only in international trains, traveling mostly to Europe. They differ in size and location of passenger seats. Accommodates 2-3 people.

If the carriage is two-seater, the marking and travel conditions are the same as in the "Lux" class. Three-seater cars correspond to the class 2I... Passengers will have a chair and washbasin at their disposal. The shelves in such a carriage are arranged vertically.

RIC cars are comfortable and are part of international trains.

Marking 3O means that there are three companions on the bottom shelf without the right to choose a seat. Dry closet and air conditioner in common wagons absent. Transportation of small animals is allowed.

If your ticket has a badge 3B, boarding in the carriage is similar to class 3O, but the choice of seat is yours.

The common carriage has no places for lying - 2-3 people sit on one shelf.

They differ from the general ones - they have special seats for the convenience of passengers. The comfort of the carriage and the level of service depend on the particular train.

Marking 1C, 2C, 3C carriages of many trains are marked - from fast passenger trains to commuter trains... As a rule, in 1C and 2C there is an air conditioner, in 3C it is not always present.

1P- a seated double-deck car in intercity trains. Passengers are offered food, printed materials, a blanket, and a hygienic travel kit.

1B- the level of service is similar to the 1P class. The only difference is that in 1B passengers are accommodated separately from each other.

2P implies an increased degree of passenger comfort. You can count on a modern dry closet and air conditioning, as well as lunch in the lunch box.

The 2E marking is also used to mark double-deck compartment cars. Travel conditions are identical, but hygiene kits and newspapers are not issued.

In the wagon 2B the level of comfort is generally similar to 2E, but most often passengers have to be content with an old-style bathroom.

If you see the marking 2K, then pets are allowed. You can also count on air conditioning, a modern dry closet and bed linen.

In a carriage with markings 1B travel conditions are the same as in business class. During the trip, the guides will offer food, drinks, hygiene products, newspapers. Small pets are allowed here. The entire section is bought out in its entirety.

According to statistics, most of the population prefers to travel by train, as this is one of the safest modes of transport. The total length of the Russian railways is about 100 thousand kilometers, which, in turn, makes it possible to reach almost any settlement.

In our country, there is only one railway company, Russian Railways, which has been serving passengers for many years. The head office of the company is located in Moscow, and local ticket offices are located on the territory of railway stations in each city. There passengers can buy or exchange their tickets at any time.

All trains in Russia, just like airplanes, have a unique structure that divides all transport into several zones, differing in the level of comfort from the inside. This opportunity allows passengers, regardless of their financial affiliation to a particular stratum of society, to choose the tariff that best suits their needs.

Many passengers are interested in: "What is this SV-car and what are its advantages?" This article will focus on the most comfortable and premium class available in the arsenal of Russian Railways. About how the abbreviation SV stands, about the advantages of this tariff and its average cost in the territory Russian Federation- in this article.

SV carriage - what is it?

Often a train journey takes several days, so you should thoroughly approach the choice of your berth. Let's start our analysis directly with the abbreviation. The SV sleeping car is a kind of compartment with increased comfort conditions. Earlier in pre-revolutionary Russia the concept of SV-car meant “suite car”.

Unlike second-class and coupe-cars, which managed to get pretty boring, absolutely all the nuances for a comfortable pastime on the road are provided here. Russian Railways' CB cars offer their passengers a wide range of different services, including comfortable soft shelves, a wardrobe for storing clothes, a private bathroom with a shower and a TV. In addition, the SV-cars provide for a smaller number of berths, which can vary from one to three.

CB tariffs

All sleeping cars also have their own separate subcategory, depending on which services are provided. According to the classification of wagons, this type belongs to the 1st class and is marked as luxury. Some CB tariffs include additional hygiene items and even food.

So, for CBs used in passenger transportation within the country, a division by class of service has been introduced. Such a division determines both the layout inside the car and the list of services provided.

  • 1B or Business class.
  • 1E or VIP zone.
  • 1E. Likewise with the previous options, only at a reduced cost.
  • 1U. Reduced cost and minimal set of services.
  • 1L. Sleeping car with no additional services.

You can get acquainted with the SV-car inside remotely in the photos below.

Carriage SV (1B)

The 1B is undoubtedly considered to be the most premium class, since it implies a complete purchase of the entire coupe as a whole. There are air conditioning systems that maintain a normal air temperature throughout the journey. Passengers have access to food and drinks, hygiene items, and various reading materials on the road. Passengers are allowed to bring pets with them in the appropriate carrying containers. The cost of the tariff directly depends on the size of the berth, therefore it very often varies.

Category 1E

Class 1E seats are very common on international trains, such as Moscow-Berlin. Of the additional services provided by the company, passengers are guarded around the clock throughout the entire journey, monitoring the situation in the car with the help of video monitors. The ticket price includes food, drinks, a private bathroom and the necessary hygiene kit.

The cost of a category 1E sleeping car on international trains is about 50 thousand. Depending on the season, the ticket price can vary from 50 to 80 thousand.

Category 1E

This category is no different from the previous ones, the only difference is that the passenger buys only the berth, and not the entire compartment of the SV-car. In this case, the passenger still has access to a wide range of services provided by the company's employees. Of course, category 1E is great for those travelers who want to save a little on their ticket. This is a great option for traveling in comfort and at a reduced cost. Usually the number of seats in a SV carriage is more than enough. Perhaps no one will be hooked up to you, because, as statistics show, such tariffs are in rather low demand. This is what a SV carriage looks like inside.

Category 1U

The terms of service in this case remain the same except for all additional services. Passengers of this category are provided with a set of bed linen, while food, drinks and other accessories are purchased separately.

Category 1L

The easiest option among sleeping cars. Here, only a basic set of services is provided, everything else is paid on the spot and at will. The only negative is the lack of a dry closet in the compartment.

Tickets for the SV-car of different categories can be purchased at the Russian Railways ticket offices at the station. Or on the official website of the company. The photo of the SV car of the simplified category can be found below. Clean and comfortable.

SV Russian Railways carriage inside

A standard CB car has 9 double compartments and two toilets throughout the entire car. As we have already mentioned, category 1L is not equipped with its own bathroom, here the main focus is on a limited number of passengers in the compartment. Some passengers sometimes redeem a whole CB for one person in order to get maximum satisfaction from the trip. It is worth noting that such actions are much cheaper than buying a business class ticket (1B).

The toilet in the SV carriage is equipped with a hygienic film on the toilet seat and a separate mixer. The guides try to maintain cleanliness and order throughout the journey, and are also very attentive and polite to their passengers. As you can see, this is not a luxury car, therefore, when buying a ticket, you should always pay attention to the scheme presented on the website.

Why SV?

Russian Railways offer their passengers to purchase tickets for any type of carriage, it all depends on their preferences and price category. On this moment all wagons are subdivided into the following types:

  1. Sedentary.
  2. Plazkart.
  3. Coupe.

The seated fare implies moving over short distances, in such cars it is impossible to move to a horizontal position and, accordingly, bed linen is not provided. From the inside, the carriage resembles the structure of an aircraft cabin, since all the seats are arranged in two rows.

The reserved seat and coupe are the most common fares in Russia. Such cars are designed for long-distance travel, and also equipped with sleeping places. The main difference between these tariffs is the presence of doors in the compartment and the absence of side shelves.

Why does SV win in absolutely all respects? This is an isolated space with soft and comfortable sleeping places, its own wardrobe and bathroom, as well as free access to the shower stall. Here you will not have to stand in line waiting for a free outlet in the vestibule or wake up a few hours before the train arrives at the station in order to get to the toilet before a queue forms. Platzkart cars for some travelers can act as a whole test, deliver a lot of inconvenience and a feeling of endless discomfort, at the moment when a trip in a SV carriage will bring a lot of impressions and pleasure.

The only competitor with superior comfort sleeping car(SV), the category is luxury. The dimensions of the compartment are several times larger; there is also a private bathroom with a vacuum toilet, a safe and a TV. This is a full-fledged mobile apartment in which every passenger can feel comfortable and safe.

At the end of the year, I will tell you about my travel experience in luxury carriages Russian railways.

So, this summer I had a need for an urgent trip with the whole family (myself, my husband and a baby child) from Sochi to central Russia. And due to the specifics of the direction, it was necessary to go either by rail or by car. After weighing all the pros and cons, we came to the conclusion that we have only one option - the train.

About a week remained before the start of the trip. And it was necessary to decide how to organize the trip in the most optimal way (comfortably and inexpensively)? Agree, not every sane parent will agree to play roulette and go in a compartment familiar to everyone with all its risks, and even more so in a reserved seat. In the summer, trains on the Sochi direction are always packed, and therefore the chances of grabbing something from the set of "snoring-socks-fume-doshirak-nonsense-ya-ytsa-etc." very large.

That is why I began to look for a solution to my equation on the Russian Railways website, and after 5 minutes, clapping my hands for joy, I convinced my husband of the need to close his eyes to the price for the sake of the offered comfort. And I found a "Luxury carriage": http://pass.rzd.ru/static/public/ru?STRUCTURE_ID=5217

There are no neighbors here, and a large bed (so comfortable for sleeping with a baby), and a private toilet with a shower, and climate control, and much, much more. So much that I wanted to close my eyes to the cost of the ticket - 13.600 rubles per person one way! It's good that they took one way ...

There was some kind of doubt that in the abbreviation of RZD R they were Russian, which meant that everything could not be so sweet. Well, okay, let's see ...

But in the car, the first thing that caught my eye was that it was quite ordinary, and instead of the maximum of 5 promised compartments per car, there were them inside as in an ordinary compartment. I immediately thought - where did they hide the toilets then? Going into my compartment, and putting my things, I realized that no one was hiding anything here - we were in an NORMAL compartment carriage, except perhaps without the upper shelves. But there was even a ladder to the top shelf! Where to climb on it ?!

Being in a little shock, I checked the ticket, and it says in black and white that our carriage is a LUXURY. All that remained was to find out the truth from the dear guide. And then it turned out that we have it ... SV! If anyone has traveled by SV wagons, he knows how it differs from a compartment - not only in the absence of an upper shelf. I opened the Russian Railways website on my tablet to make sure I wasn't completely crazy yet. And then the conductor (apparently, this is not his first case) says: "Well, look here at the bottom of the page it is indicated that Lux class coupes are denoted (attention !!!) with the letter M - soft. And this is Lux. there is an ordinary SV ". To my shocked "But this car is not a SV, but an ordinary compartment without top bins" the conductor just skillfully threw up his hands and said: "Well, what is it." At that moment, all the anger that exists in me wanted to splash out on this dear person. But it has nothing to do with it. It is worth looking for traces in the management of this red-and-white crooked monopolist. Thanks to the conductor and for the story about how and where to book the SOFT carriage correctly!

As a result of this trip, we had to seal the air conditioner with a garbage bag several times so that the child did not ice up (in the miracle car, the air conditioner does not decrease and does not turn off when the outside temperature is above 25), stay up all night and monitor the baby's sleep (fit with him on a narrow it is impossible to leave the bed, and leave it unattended too - there are no handrails). The chef finished us off with his delights of student cuisine for a couple of thousand for two.

The result of the trip is a destroyed nervous system and a crazy night for (just something) almost a thousand American dollars!

Thoughts about the way back for 2 weeks did not allow to sleep peacefully - it will be almost impossible for even hardened parents to survive such stress again.
Therefore, following the guide's advice, we found another train with soft seats. The cost there was already entirely for the entire coupe - a little less than 26,000. And until the trip itself, it was embarrassing that it was lower than the first tickets to the miracle-SV.

But, having entered the carriage, we were able to calmly exhale - it was the same LUX! With a large bed (in fact, the second one turned out to be almost the same) with excellent mattresses and linens, an armchair, a toilet with a shower, with climate control and heating (it got very cold in those days). And even though the carriage still resembled a mix of two such Soft coupes and the rest of the "type" SV, we drove calmly and with pleasure.

2 moments amused: the first is the words of the head of this railroad that we are now in a mobile 5-star hotel (either he has never been to those, or he confused it with brandy); and the second - the fact that at the end of the journey along the chain the air conditioner did not work, then the boiler or the flush in the toilet bowls (as soon as one was repaired, the second was immediately cut off - and so on in a circle).

So my advice, friends - when traveling by rail, be on the lookout and do not fall for the stupid baits of these swindlers monopolists. And a pleasant journey to all!

Anyone who has ever thought about traveling by train could not help but learn about the SV train, especially if he wanted to make his trip special. After all, this class has long been associated with high-level comfort and service. It is no secret that this method of travel is not cheap, and in order to decide to buy a ticket, you need to have a sufficient amount of knowledge about it. And if there is a need for them, then this article will tell you about the features of such cars and answer main question: "What is this - a SV train?"

Types of SV cars

The decoding of the abbreviation SV is simple - a sleeping car. Carriages of this class are not in vain considered one of the most comfortable at the moment. Their layout makes it possible to travel in conditions much more comfortable than in simple compartment cars. How does the coupe differ from the SV? They differ from them in two-seater coupes instead of four-seater ones. Today, there are four layouts of compartments in such cars.

The main division is based on the number of compartments: there can be 8 or 9. Accordingly, the first are designed to carry 16 passengers, the second - 18. The location of the seats can be different, but in any case, the train will only have two-seater compartments.

Sleeping car compartment

Carriages with 8 compartments are of two modifications. In the first, berths are located one above the other. Additionally, there is a folding table, a wardrobe and an armchair. The main difference is the washbasin combined with the adjacent compartment, which has a shower. There are two toilets located at different ends of the carriage, although this is not a feature of a particular layout. Another type offers compartments in which berths are located side by side, so a separate shower had to be sacrificed. But there is a common one.

Carriages with 9 compartments are also divided into two types. In the first one there are berths opposite each other, in the second one on top of each other. And if the first combination does not offer any more conveniences, then the second one has a separate washbasin for each compartment. There is no shower in these cars, the toilets are located similarly to the 8 compartment cars.

In any case, such schemes are more convenient for passengers. Fewer seats reduce the load on toilets and there are never queues. Conductors can devote enough time to any passenger. The noise level is much lower.

Schemes of carriages of SV Russian Railways

In order for the car to meet the expectations of the passenger, he must first know its layout. The presence of a shower allows you to make long journeys without sacrificing convenience. Therefore, the choice must be taken very carefully.

Service classes

If everything is relatively clear with the types of cars, then the classes of service in SV trains can confuse anyone, because it is not easy to decipher them. They differ not only in the classes themselves, but also in the carriers that own the trains. The manufacturer plays an important role.

FPK

The carrier Federal Passenger Company JSC offers the following service classes:

  • 1B and 1E. Maximum service. A car of this class is always equipped with air conditioning and a dry closet. This means you can forget about the sanitary zones. You will be offered a hygiene kit, bed linen and the latest newspapers. The ticket price includes food and beverage dispensing at the request of the passenger. The difference between B and E is that in the first case, one person buys both places. But in this case, he has the right to carry a pet with him.
  • 1T. The equipment of the carriage corresponds to the previous class. The difference lies in the not so wide list of additional services.
  • 1U. Stripped down version 1B. A car with air conditioning and a dry closet awaits the passenger. He will be given bed linen. Since the entire compartment has been purchased, it is possible to transport a pet.
  • 1L. One of budget options... Such wagons may not have a dry closet. Otherwise, the conditions correspond to class 1U.
  • 1D (tourist). In addition to the lack of a dry closet, there is no possibility to transport animals.

These classes will be served by 9 compartment cars, which were mentioned earlier. For branded trains, 8-seater variants are mainly used. This means that the classes of service there offer a slightly different range of services. For example, consider the classification of the Strizh train:

  • 1E. In addition to the list of services from the carriage with compartment 9, the passenger will be offered either a separate washbasin and shower, or a shared shower. A TV will hang in the compartment, and it will be possible to connect to Wi-Fi.
  • 1E. Full redemption of the compartment is required, no matter by one or two passengers. You can carry your pet. The rest is similar to the previous class.
  • 1T. The difference is that there are no additional services.

All three classes include meals, hygiene kits, and bedding.

We should also mention the RIC cars. These cars are produced in Tver together with Siemens AG. They are used on international routes. At the moment, they are found in 3 types. Previously, they had two and three-seat layout. In the latter, berths were located one above the other.

RIC carriage

Now it is difficult to find such cars, because they are being replaced by cars with a standard 4-seater scheme. Therefore, only two-seater variants are used as SV cars. They are equipped with a shared shower, keyless access to the compartment (as in some hotels - with a plastic card) and an electronic display with basic information.

TCS

Let's go to the carrier "TKS"

It forms branded trains completing them with high class cars. These new, modern and comfortable carriages with excellent finishing quality are able to bring the traveler closer to home comfort. The manufacturer has implemented modern engineering solutions in the field of air conditioning, ventilation and noise insulation.

Note! The coupe looks very presentable. A wide range of services is also provided: standard and additional, for which experienced personnel are responsible, who have undergone special training to improve the level of service.

SV cars are presented in two classes of service:

  • SV + (1B "Business TK"). Such cars are present on the routes Moscow - Volgograd and Moscow - Saratov. The passenger will have at their disposal unlimited food and drinks, free internet, a mother and child room and a shower. It is possible to transport a pet and order a taxi to the station.
  • SV carriage (1B "Business TC"). The same services except for the shower.

All compartments are equipped with TVs, the latest newspapers are available, the sanitary and hygienic set has been expanded. Please note that the carrier offers separate services for passengers with children.

Important! For babies, you can order a special playpen, which is designed taking into account all safety requirements. For older children, the guide can place the safety arches on the upper shelf. These services are free of charge, but require a preliminary order.

The list of additional services is very wide, you can find it on the company's website.

Grand Express

The private train "Grand Express", which is sometimes compared to a hotel on wheels for its comfort, consists of 16 carriages. 4 of them are SV cars:

  • Premium (1E);
  • Premium Single (1L);
  • 1st class - Business (1B);
  • Class 1 - Standard (1U).

Carriage compartment Premium

In terms of the level of equipment and service, it is equal to the best analogs from Europe. The highest equipment, specially trained personnel and a wide range of services mean that the passenger is at the forefront. Therefore, he has the right to be called one of the best. In spite of unusual name SV cars, understand that this is quite simple.

The compartment of the Premium carriage is redeemed as a whole, two people can go. It has a TV, power outlets, a separate sink and a safe. Air conditioning and heating can be controlled. The lower sofa folds out into a 100 cm wide bed, the upper shelf (80 cm) folds down. There is a separate chair.
