Well, we suggest that you do not waste your time and already familiarize yourself with the selection electronic cards Samui. They will be a good help when planning a route and will help you easily navigate the terrain.

Koh Samui is the third largest island in Thailand (280 km²). It is located in the south of the Kingdom, in the province of Surat Thani, and is washed by the waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

Samui is located 84 km northwest of Surat Thani city, 560 km southwest of Bangkok and 400 km (+30 km by water) northeast of Phuket.

The island is surrounded by about 80 tiny islets, of which three are widely known to divers and ordinary tourists: Koh Tao,

Koh Pha Ngan

and Ko Nang Yuan. There is a ferry service to them.

Koh Samui can be reached by bus and fast ferry from Surat Thani or by air from Bangkok. The airport " Ko Samui Airport»Is based in the north of the island, near Bo Phut beach. This is a simple one-storey building without any internal premises. The arrival and departure zones are located on the street. Their designs resemble gazebos.

First of all, Samui attracts with its amazing beaches. Chaweng, Lamai, Maenam, Bophut, Beach are marked on the map Big Buddha, Choengomon, etc.

This map shows the main attractions, beaches, villages, hospitals and police stations. You will also see where the ring road runs.

We hope you find our maps useful!

Koh Samui is the second largest island in the Kingdom of Thailand, and its dimensions are 20 by 16 kilometers. For comparison, this is slightly more than the city of Tver. Those who have spent more than one month on Koh Samui do not need to use the card, but for beginners it can be very useful, especially when preparing for a trip. I also have similar cards.

I personally like Google Maps, which I consider to be one of the best online maps for Thailand: there are photos of places, almost all streets and paths are present, there is a map search and navigation. In addition to them, it is also convenient to use paper maps on site or their scans on a computer. They give a clear idea of what areas and beaches are on the island and where they are located. And you can also immediately estimate where the attractions are located. Yes, the detail of such maps sometimes leaves much to be desired, but every time I take them on the spot, put them in the glove compartment of my bike or car, and the first days with them are very, very convenient.

These cards are available at the airport, shops, hotel counters or rental cars. If you are flying directly to Koh Samui, then do not rush to buy a card in a shop at Suvarnapumi Airport. Excellent free maps several species, on good paper, are in the lounge area of Bangkok Airways, the only carrier from Suvarnapumi to Koh Samui.

If we look at the island globally, then the most lively and interesting for swimming are the northern, northeastern and eastern coasts. The south of the island has an extremely shallow and rocky bottom. It is not safe to swim here in some places, but the landscapes and the color of the sea leave the impression of a bounty fairy tale. The western part of the island is not popular with the mass tourist, but it differs beautiful sunsets and sections of the coast on which there are completely wild beaches isolated from people. In the west, there are two main piers of Koh Samui, which does not add to the purity of the local ecology.

The most popular beaches of Koh Samui are:, and. Chaweng Beach is considered the island's unofficial entertainment capital. Lamai Beach is a light version of Chaweng, although both beaches are almost the same length. Maenam Beach has long established a reputation as a quiet and family-friendly place with a "neighborhood" life that falls asleep after sunset.

Maenam became my favorite beach on Koh Samui. Lots of shade, deep sea, no noisy parties and entertainment venues, a decent selection of cafes and two markets. As well as convenient geographical position between the airport and the piers. There is a great combination of tranquility and infrastructure, and there are few people on the beach due to the lack of a large number hotels, here mainly those who come for a long time live.

No less attractive for us was the second beach, where we rented the first house -. Located "across the wall" from Maenam, this beach is deserted and quiet. Bang Po is an even more secluded version of Maenam. The sea is not for everyone there (children feel good, adults are not very good), but I am personally ready to forgive him for the almost complete absence of people on the shore. True, after a month, more services are needed within walking distance, and I want to go to a more civilized place.

Supermarkets (Big Sea, Tesco, Macro) and the Central Festival shopping center are located between and Chaweng, and there is also medium-sized Tesco right on Lamai, which makes Lamai a rather attractive beach for many. Actually, if I were choosing where to live with the child, I would choose between Maenam and Lamai.

In fact only made famous 10 years ago, Koh Samui rivals Phuket as the most popular seaside resort Thailand. On the other hand, this ideal island differs from its siblings quite clearly, retaining the natural simplicity of a tropical secluded place.

Located in the Gulf of Thailand on the opposite side of Phuket southern peninsula Samui is characterized by quiet beaches of powder-fine sand, deserted little coves, calming waters and hinterlands of coconut plantations and rice fields. Here is a place where you can throw off the burden of problems and relax in the sun without any worries.

Despite the easy accessibility and availability of several daily flights from Bangkok and Phuket and ferry crossing from Surat Thani, Koh Samui remains far from everything, an island completely in itself, as it has been for centuries.

Island features

Koh Samui is often compared to Phuket, but they are not quite the same. These islands are located in different places and have different climatic conditions... The Gulf of Thailand is quiet place, in which there are no high waves, as in Phuket.

The main features of Koh Samui are the harmonious combination of uncrowded beaches, the cleanest sea, perfectly preserved ecology and well-developed infrastructure. There are various beaches with white and golden sand, secluded and noisy places. Also on the island you can see the real jungle and ride elephants.

Koh Samui is suitable for those who love clean sea, leisurely pace of life and the absence of a large number of people.

The climate on Koh Samui is very hot, tropical with high levels of humidity. The whole year can be divided into three seasons - dry, hot and rainy.

The dry season lasts from December to February. The air temperature hovers around 26 degrees. This is the most fertile time for travelers and residents of the island, since tourist season at it's peak. There is an airport on Koh Samui, but it does not accept international flights from distant countries... From Russia you can fly to Bangkok or Phuket. Then you should board a local airline plane and continue on to Koh Samui. This flight will only last one hour. You can also get to the island by plane from Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

Koh Samui maps, which are presented on this page, meet several important criteria that, in my opinion, are of paramount importance when planning a vacation on Koh Samui or simply looking for reliable information about this island. Firstly, all the maps of Koh Samui below are high-resolution, which makes it possible, when enlarged, to examine small inscriptions and icons in more detail without any discomfort. Secondly, the cards are not only bright and beautiful, but also contain important practical information, i.e. can be really useful (for example, information about hotels, transport or attractions). Finally, thirdly, Koh Samui maps complement each other, because one map is never universal and cannot simultaneously contain all possible information about the island.

One more Koh Samui map with attractions... I note right away that it is not very informative, but some of the objects marked on it are absent on other maps in this collection. Finally, a somewhat specific map of Koh Samui, which provides information on where this or that beach is located, this or that. In addition, the card can be useful for those who like not only to lie on the beach and swim in the sea, but also to play a couple of rounds of golf on vacation (or maybe only try this rather aristocratic sport for the first time in their life) or take a few lessons from professional athletes.
