  • Lermontovsky

The Caucasus attracted the attention of representatives of various strata of society: the creative intelligentsia, the nobility, travelers, merchants, as well as romantic adventurers of all stripes, and of course those who were promised hope for a miraculous healing by the amazing waters.

The picturesque nature of these places has inspired more than one generation of writers and poets: the majestic foothills of Elbrus, the winding channels of mountain rivers carrying their waters among fragrant valleys, azure waterfalls, vast expanses of steppe, generously endowed by the sun ... All this has created a surprisingly mild healthy climate, and many healing mineral waters and high-quality curative mud glorified the Caucasus, both in our country and abroad.

The official history of one of the oldest balneological centers in Russia began in 1803. On the site of the first settlements and tent camps, organized near healing springs, the first settlements and then cities began to grow very quickly. People of different professions and estates began to come here to improve their health "on the waters" and relax in a pleasant company. Gradually, the news about the miraculous properties of these places spread throughout Russia and Europe - the resort has become a favorite place for rest and treatment. Nevertheless, the peak of the popularity of this region falls on the Soviet era, when travel for health became not as difficult and tedious as it was at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.

After the revolution, nationalized hotels and private houses were converted into hospitals. At the same time, the construction of sanatoriums, hydrotherapy centers and resort complexes... During the war, immediately after the liberation of the resorts in the spring of 1943, hospitals began to receive thousands of wounded Soviet soldiers. Thanks to medicinal waters and mud, selfless work of doctors and all personnel, hundreds of human lives were saved. In the post-war period, dozens of new deposits of mineral water were discovered, the construction of hotels, sanatoriums, pioneer camps and resort complexes proceeded at a rapid pace, the range of medical and health services was expanded. As a result, Kavminvody becomes a resort of all-Union importance, receiving up to one and a half million tourists a year.

Today, the famous resort of Caucasian Mineral Waters is located on the territory of three subjects of the Federation: the Stavropol Territory, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. Some of the best companies in the spa complex are located here, with a wide range of medical and wellness services on offer.

A lover of foreign health resorts will be interested to know that the Caucasian Mineral Waters is a unique region, in which almost all types of mineral waters are represented - more than 130 springs! Such a variety in its composition, quality and healing properties you will not find anywhere in the world!

In addition, the famous lake Tambukan is located just 12 kilometers from Pyatigorsk, at the bottom of which there are hundreds of thousands of tons of healing silt. Every year, for the needs of sanatoriums and health resorts, about 10 thousand tons of medicinal mud is mined here, which is also recognized as one of the best in the world.

But even those who have not heard of the Kavminvod resorts are well aware of another area of the region's activity - the production of bottled mineral water. Legendary "Essentuki" and "Narzan" are familiar to everyone from childhood. These and other types of water are supplied today throughout Russia and the near abroad.

One more interesting direction, which continues to actively develop every year - educational and sports tourism. In a land rich in history and culture, many interesting natural sites, there is no shortage of attractions. Therefore, many tourists come here not so much for health improvement, but for vivid excursion impressions, the pacifying atmosphere of long walks and active sports recreation in the mountains.

Most popular resorts in the region of the Caucasian Mineral Waters: Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Zheleznovodsk and Pyatigorsk. Each resort town has its own therapeutic specialization.

Kislovodsk- is considered the sunniest and greenest resort. On the territory of the city, in addition to the famous medicinal narzans, there is a huge park for walking, which goes far into the mountains. Favorable climatic conditions and crystal clear air, saturated with tart odors of resin and needles, create an excellent healing effect. Recommended for the treatment of the cardiovascular system and the gastrointestinal tract.

Essentuki- a small cozy resort specializing in the treatment of endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal tract, liver and bile ducts. Perhaps this is the main healing "source" of mineral waters in the Caucasus.

Zheleznovodsk- the smallest and quiet resort among his fellows, but no less famous! This is the only resort in Russia and Europe with hot calcium mineral waters. Therefore, the main specialization of the resort is the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system and metabolic disorders. This resort can also be considered for respiratory treatment.

Pyatigorsk- the most versatile resort of KMV. It is famous for its mud cures, but overall it is a one-stop resort for holistic wellness.

How to get there

Get to famous resorts fairly easy and relatively inexpensive. If the trip is not planned during the high season, then train tickets can cost you more than a plane ticket. The cost of trips by electric trains running in Kavminvody is comparable in price to similar trips in big cities. Minibuses and taxis are cheaper than in metropolitan areas. When planning a trip, remember that most of the routes, wherever you arrive / arrive, will lead you to Mineralnye Vody - the main transfer point.

Airplane

The largest in the south of the country is located in Mineralnye Vody international Airport which receives flights daily from different cities Russia and neighboring countries. The plane is the most comfortable and quick way get to Kavminvod. The flight time from Moscow will be about two hours, from St. Petersburg - about three. When looking for air tickets, pay attention to the airlines "S7 Airlines" and "NordStar", which have interesting budget offers. The airport "Mineralnye Vody" itself is small, but modern, located at a distance of 4 km from the city.

If your further route runs through the railway station of Mineralnye Vody, from which trains leave for popular resort cities, we recommend using route taxi No. 10, No. 11. Minibuses leave the airport every 30-40 minutes. from 6.00 am to 19.30 pm. Choosing route number 11, you will reach the city bus station, which is also connected by routes with many resort cities: Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, Dombay and others (travel time to the bus station, about 10 minutes). For example, a taxi ride to Kislovodsk, on average, will cost you 900 rubles (January 2016).

A train

Before choosing this method of travel, we recommend that you look at how many days you need to travel. Even fast trains in this direction make a large number of stops and do not go fast, so the trip can be quite tiring, especially in the hot season. Like the airport, railroad station Mineralnye Vody is one of the most important transport points in this region. Before her, and the terminal station of the North Caucasian railroad- Kislovodsk, you can get directly from many cities of Russia.

The station in Mineralnye Vody corresponds to the status of the station - a majestic building, with massive columns, a dome, stained glass windows and frescoes, spacious enough and comfortable for waiting. Trains depart from the station on routes long distance and suburban communication.

Separately, it should be noted the excellent transport connection inside the territory of Kavminvod! Suitable trains on the Mineralnye Vody - Kislovodsk branch (its length is 64 km) - the main public transport between the cities of Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Pyatigorsk, Beshtau, Mineralnye Vody. Electric trains also run to Georgievsk, Nevinnomyssk, Budennovsk and other cities of the Stavropol Territory, with the exception of Zheleznovodsk. To get to Zheleznovodsk, you need to get off at the Beshtau station (located 6 km from Zheleznovodsk) and continue your journey by minibus or bus number 10 (about 5-7 minutes). If the long-distance train does not stop at the Beshtau station (for example, No. 004C "Kavkaz" from Moscow), then from railway station Mineralnye Vody (from the station square), as well as from the bus station, to Zheleznovodsk can be reached by bus or minibus number 107.

The trains run very often, at intervals of 40 minutes - 1 hour 20 minutes (depending on the time of day), from 5 am to 11 pm. And, which is important for the convenience of tourists, in every city, even the smallest, the train makes 2-3 stops! The train schedule changes periodically. The fare, for example: Mineralnye Vody - Kislovodsk - 154 rubles. 20 K., Kislovodsk - Essentuki - 64 rubles. 10 K., Kislovodsk - Pyatigorsk - 115 rubles. 90 k. (2016)

The climate in the region of the Caucasian Mineral Waters depends on the specific city, because the mountains are able to form unique weather in a relatively small area.

The climate in Kislovodsk is temperate continental, the city is surrounded by the Caucasian ridge, which protects it from cold winds and creates a special mountain climate.

Hello everyone!

I deliberately did not want to write about the shameless baths in Pyatigorsk during the warm period, because due to the huge number of people it was not possible to take photographs and write a review about this place. In summer, spring, autumn, at any time of the day, there are always a lot of people on the shameless baths.

I thought that I would write a review in winter, since few tourists come to the sanatoriums and who would think of swimming in the cold in winter. Oh, how wrong I was! I was honestly surprised when I came and saw that despite the fog, the cold piercing wind and the temperature of 0 ° C, all the baths were occupied, and another 10 people, undressed, were standing nearby and waiting for their turn!

Shameless baths in Pyatigorsk

Shameless baths in Pyatigorsk, like other famous attractions of the resort are business card cities. Guests of Pyatigorsk, locals they believe that the water in shameless baths can cure any disease. Therefore, so many people of different ages and social status come to this place to cure their ailments.

In 1910, the pits cut down on the southern slope of Goryachaya Mountain began to be called shameless, since many came here to swim naked. Now we have not 1910, but 2018 and little has changed. If vacationers and locals, and these are mostly 35+ people, come here early in the morning and in the afternoon, then young people like to come here late at night after the club.

One girl told me a funny incident that happened to her. The guy invited her on a date and after dinner at a cafe, they decided to walk along Gagarin Boulevard. On the way back, he suggested going down to the shameless baths to admire the panorama of the city. Everything seems to be beautiful and romantic, but when they arrived there he stripped naked and climbed into one of the bathtubs. In this original way, the guy tried to tell the girl that he wants to continue the evening. The story ended with the girl quickly retreating and they never saw the young man again.

So little has changed since then. There are still people who like to swim in the natural spring nude.

Shameless baths - benefits, harms and composition of water

Bathing in any mineral spring refers to balneological treatment! Only a doctor, after a series of examinations, can tell you whether or not you can take a bath, since bathing in a mineral spring has a number of contraindications.

Contraindications:

  • cardiac ischemia;
  • acute inflammatory processes;
  • hypertension above the second stage;
  • all acute inflammatory diseases of internal organs;
  • heart defects with chronic heart failure;
  • oncology;
  • diseases of the thyroid gland;
  • diseases of the genital area in women - uterine fibroids, endometriosis and adenomeosis;
  • alcoholic intoxication.

Indications:

  • skin diseases;
  • respiratory diseases;
  • diseases of the musculoskeletal system;
  • cardiovascular disease in the initial stages;
  • stress;
  • insomnia.

Rules for taking baths in a mineral spring:

  • Children under 4 years old - 5-8 minutes;
  • Children over 4 years old - 10 minutes;
  • adults 15-20 minutes.

Baths should be taken either every other day, or 2 days in a row and 1 day off.

And it should also be borne in mind that in sanatoriums baths are disinfected after each visitor and mineral water is diluted to the desired concentration, so a person feels good after 15-20 minutes of being in the water.

And in shameless baths, the water is saturated and concentrated, and after sitting in a natural spring for 10-15 minutes, you can feel dizziness and rapid heartbeat. Therefore, it is better to take a bath in 2-3 sets of 3-4 minutes.

Water composition

All residents of Pyatigorsk know that in shameless baths the water is carbonic acid and it smells like sulfur. The water temperature in the uppermost bath is very hot, and since the shameless baths are shaped like a cascading waterfall, so to speak, the water in the lowermost bath is slightly warm. It is believed that the water temperature in shameless baths is 32 - 45 ° C.

In the last 10 years, the Institute of Balneology has not carried out any research with the source and on this moment they cannot assert that the chemical and physical composition of water, as well as the sanitary and epidemiological state of water, is the same as several decades ago.

How to find shameless baths in Pyatigorsk

Shameless baths in Pyatigorsk are located next to the Tales of the East restaurant and the Panorama cafe.

Observation deck made not so long ago. Previously, there was nothing here, except for stones and broken asphalt. I am glad that little by little Pyatigorsk is transforming into a resort town.
The panorama of the city can now be enjoyed sitting on a bench and sipping delicious natural coffee with a donut. By the way, the prices for coffee are reasonable, not more expensive than in the city.

In foggy weather, if you see a part of the city, then there are no mountains surrounding Pyatigorsk. It is for this reason that it makes no sense to take a cable car to Mount Mashuk or to, since, apart from fog, you will not see anything.
The closer you get to the shameless bathtubs, the more clearly you can smell the sulfur and the less well-groomed you see around you.
There is a sign next to the bathtubs, which reminds you that uncontrolled bathing can harm your health. If you go down along the green fence, you can go to two more baths, which most of time are empty. Perhaps because the path to them is not entirely safe.

You have to go hard, holding on, otherwise you will fall over the bars. The slope behind the fence is steep and the ground is wet and slippery.
Shameless baths in Pyatigorsk are incredibly popular among the population of the country. Few can afford to come on a voucher to a sanatorium, so many come to Pyatigorsk, rent an apartment and come to shameless baths to cure their ailments.

P.S. If you do not know how to get or get to Gagarin Boulevard, then I talked about it in detail.

By my naivety, I assumed that before I could get out of the airport of Mineralnye Vody, I would meet around a lot of galleries with springs or ordinary columns.
Each of them will beat with healing streams of mineral water, immediately improving my health.
But I was wrong. The search for such water turned into a whole quest for me ...

1. We could not find any sources at the airport.
In the center he was led to the galleries, somewhat similar to the Karlovy Vary or Kislovodsk ones.
But it all turned out to be just a bait.

2. There was no smell of water here.
But I admired the small church. Almost Pokrova-na-Nerl, only 5 times less.

3. Among the idle cafes of the main city promenade, I got to the Christmas tree.
He turned around and went to sleep.
Don't go to Pyaterochka for bottled water ...

4. In the morning I moved to the station.
I thought there were more people there. This means that I will quickly find those who know where the mineral water beats here.

5. The station, by the way, is worthy.
A whole work of art.

6. The most knowledgeable people here ride yellow basins.
Pay attention to the numbers. Cool.
They laughed at me.
Go, they say, to Pyatigorsk. And in Mineralnye Vody there is no mineral water ...

7. I went to the main avenue. From here, a lot of minibuses start to go to the nearest cities.
Everything is inexpensive, but they say there are traffic jams everywhere. And the distance is 30 km. to Pyatigorsk you can go 40-50 minutes.

8. Unfortunately, the time was not enough for this trip.
While Pyatigorsk will wait.

9. Yes, the airport is very close here - 3-4 kilometers from the station.
Airplanes taking off and landing can be viewed with absolutely the naked eye.

10. I sat down on the first gazelle I came across and went somewhere in the private sector.
There, according to some compassionate granny, you can find a large temple. Allegedly, there is also healing water.

11. Away from the center, discouragement ..
Although it’s probably good here in the summer.

12. And here is the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos.
One two-meter fence is worth something.

13. I will tell you about the cathedral separately.
He really impressed me with his size.

14. And the driver, by the way, was found.
Although healing, but not at all mineral ...

15. Returned to the center.
He noted that the quality of the roads encourages you to drive not on low priors, but rather on such off-road vehicles.

16. Habitual southern markets no.
Found one collapse. There is no mineral water, no chacha.
Dried persimmon, viburnum, yes "Adam's apple".
By the way, maklura is a valuable thing!
You rub two pieces of 50 rubles each on a grater, insist on a bottle of vodka for a month - and no joint diseases are scary!
Yes, don't drink. Rub.

17. As for the mine rake, the case turned out to be insoluble.
All around there are "magnets" and "pyaterochki", where the same assortment as I have under my window in Vladimir.
When asked about water, the locals just laughed at me.

18. He spat, went into a half-dead pharmacy, looked at the rows of bottles with mineral water.
And he took one.

19. Almost "Kind Vasya".
But in fact, the export water "Essentuki". 40 rubles chtol .. Not bad.

In short, I wandered around for half a day, but not in vain.
I did not find local water, but I saw all the sights.
I'll show you soon, don't switch!
