Holidays in Tunisia review. Everything about the rest in Tunisia: reviews, advice, guide. Monastir - mixed feelings

For a long time I did not think about the question of whether to go to Tunisia - the price was too attractive for the "hot tour". And now, having visited this African country, I am definitely sure that it is worth visiting Tunisia!

Sea and beach vacation

Tunisia is absolutely not an alternative to Turkey and Egypt. Tunisia differs greatly from the first resort in the quality of hotels. There is very little or no noisy and funny animation here. And from Egypt it is strikingly different by the sea. It's wonderful, gentle, clean, but ... empty when compared to the Red Sea. So if you are a sophisticated lover of the rich underwater world, The Mediterranean Sea, if not disappointing, will certainly not overwhelm you. Although you can find beautiful underwater caves and grottoes here, so an experienced diver will not be bored, but you should not count on something special.

But the beaches of Tunisia are simply magnificent! Snow-white sand, a gentle entrance to the water, but again there is a small reservation - algae. Every morning, the hotel beaches are cleaned of a huge number of slimy plants.

Monastir - mixed feelings.

The resort town of Tunisia, Monastir, gave me mixed feelings. On the one hand, the city center is very beautiful. A wide, cobbled square with a mausoleum, a square with palm trees and, of course, the Ribat fortress. Of course, as elsewhere, in Arab countries there is a mosque and a medina next to it. On the other hand, you roll a little, and dirt, garbage, all this spoils the mood a little. But in hotels - paradise. Clean, green, as if you are in a completely different country. Let's talk about the good. The Ribat Fortress, built in the 8th century, is very impressive. Entrance 7 dinar (1 dinar = 24 rubles). By spiral staircase you can climb to the third level of the fortress, from which a wonderful view of the sea and the city opens, such observation deck... I advise you to definitely visit this place. There are several museums here, but if you are not amateurs, then you should not, they will not impress you very much. The mausoleum, it may not be necessary to visit, but it is worth taking a walk around the square, it opens beautiful view to the Ribat fortress. Mosque, but only if you go to the medina, because it is not a museum (there are mosques in Tunisia open to tourists). There is a mosque in Monastir only for Muslims. The oriental bazaar is a medina, you must definitely visit in order to feel the spirit of Tunisia, its national color, and at the same time buy spices (the spices start to spin there). Go to a small cafe and drink some Arabic coffee. This walk will take you to the fabulous east and several centuries ago. Life is in full swing in the medina, but time stands still.

Djerba Island is one of the best places for a beach holiday in Tunisia. The resort boasts clear turquoise seas, white sandy beaches and excellent hotels.

The sights of the island of Djerba should be separately highlighted, the most striking of which is the Gazi Mustafa fortress. It was built of sandstone coastal stone. Within the walls of this fortress there was once a garrison of warrior monks. Its walls offer a magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea. At the very top there is an observation deck. The main synagogue of Tunisia "La Griba" is located on this island. It is located in the small village of Hera-Segira. Also, tourists will have the opportunity to look into the favorite place of stay of pink flamingos, Djerba Lagoon. 5. Tunisia

The resort of Tunisia is not only a stunning place in Tunisia for a beach holiday, as it has a huge number of all kinds of attractions. The main one is ancient city Carthage. It was founded back in 814 BC. Here you can see the remains of Roman sarcophagi and sculptures. In general, you will have to allocate a lot of time to examine it. Excavations are still underway on its territory. The mountain oasis in the Atlas Mountains - Shibiku is also worth visiting. It offers a stunningly beautiful view of the Sahara. Also, tourists are invited to visit the famous Tunisian lake, where you can see huge flocks of pink flamingos. If you have enough time, you can visit the Phrygia Safari Park. This reserve is home to about 30 species of animals.

Of the sights, tourists are invited to visit ancient fortress Borji el Kibir, which was built back in 1595. It is also worth paying attention to the Great Mosque of Mahdia, which was erected by the founder of the city Obaid Alla el Mahdi. The Skif el-Kala gate also deserves the attention of tourists. They lead to the old part of the city - Medina. These gates were built in the 10th century, their purpose was to protect residential areas and the ruler's palace. Also worth a visit is the El Jem amphitheater, which are business card the whole area. Its walls are lined with magnificent mosaics depicting hunters and horsemen. To this day, the amphitheater has been preserved in a dilapidated state, but it still remains quite attractive for tourists.

7. Nabeul

This picturesque resort is located on the Cap Bon peninsula, in the northern part of Tunisia. The tourist infrastructure here is not at the highest level. Worthy sandy beaches, clean sea and budget hotels are the main advantages of this resort. The beaches in Nabul are not crowded, mostly public, there are also wild ones - great for a secluded getaway.

The main local attraction is the old part of the city - Medina. Here, tourists will see old cobbled streets, small shops and stalls with all kinds of souvenirs. There are two main ceramic vase monuments to admire in the city. One is presented in the form of a ceramic bowl with oranges, and the second in the form of a ceramic tree - an amphora. Also worth a visit is Korba Lagoon, for the winter flocks of pink flamingos come here.

8. Gammarth

Despite the fact that Egypt has become a favorite destination Russian tourists, do not forget about others eastern countries... Today the tourist market offers good propositions and discounts in all directions, so in addition to the country of pyramids, travelers will be able to see the mysterious Petra in Jordan, and Carthage in Tunisia, and the most tall skyscraper in the Emirates. In recent years, Tunisia has become more and more popular with tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Whether the Tunisian service differs from the Egyptian, whether the excursion program is rich, and what disadvantages should be taken into account, we will tell you further.

Climate

Holidays in Tunisia

Tourist season starts in May and ends in November. In the winter months it is quite cool, up to +19 (water temperature +15). The warmest water is from August to October (it warms up to 28 degrees), so this is the most favorable time for families with children. If the main purpose of the trip is not a beach holiday, but attractions, it is better to go during a cooler time, for example, in April or November.

Egypt. The best time to visit - April-May or September-November. V summer months it is too hot, and if the heat is not felt by the sea, then the high temperature is not comfortable for excursions. In winter, the air temperature is 20-24 degrees; the water is quite cool (+20 in the Mediterranean, and a little warmer in the Red, up to 24 degrees).

Entertainment

Water park in Sousse

the most large water parks- Flipper (Hammamet) and Aqua Palace Water Park (Sousse). There is Dessole Bella Vista in Monastir. All water parks are well equipped, there are large and small slides, attractions, pools, artificial rivers, animal sculptures.

In Egypt many water parks are located on the territory of hotels. In Hurghada, these are Sinbad, Jungle and Titanic, and in Sharm el-Sheikh - Tirana, Bora Bora and a separate Fun Town amusement park. There is also a dolphinarium in Hurghada, those who wish can swim with dolphins.

Saturation of the excursion program

Excursion to the Sahara

By excursion program both countries are in no way inferior to each other.

Worth a visit to the capital with its Great Mosque, Bardo Museum and traditional oriental bazaar, Carthage (including the Baths of Anthony, amphitheater and National Museum), Sousse, Djerba island, Mahdia, Hammamet and Monastir.

Special attention should be paid to trips to the Sahara and the picturesque city of Sidi Bou Said, a place of bohemia and aristocracy, so unlike a typical Arab city. By local law, all buildings can only be painted white and all shades of blue and blue.

Jeep safaris, camel rides on the dunes and nights in the desert - all this gives Tunisia travelers. Tourists are delighted with the adorable fennec foxes, and it is very difficult not to succumb to the persuasion of traders to buy a cute animal.

Egypt. Here, guests are traditionally offered trips to the pyramids, to Cairo, Luxor, jeep safaris or motor safaris, as well as numerous boat trips and of course diving.

Those who prefer more difficult routes should go to Alexandria or Jerusalem.

If you decide to rent a car, it is better to do it in advance through large international networks (Avis, Sixt, etc.), and if you want to learn more about a particular place without running after an excursion group, you should use the services of private guides, most of which speak Russian well.

Beach vacation

White beach of Tunisia

If the purpose of your trip is diving and exploring the underwater world, the choice should be made in favor of Egypt and the Red Sea. Here, large colorful fish swim to the very shore, while in Tunisia the water is not so transparent and algae are found.

The beaches are well equipped in both Tunisia and Egypt. There are bars, sun loungers and umbrellas (mostly free), and a good choice aquatic species sports: wakeboard, scooter, snorkeling, water skiing, parasailing (flying behind a boat with a parachute) and much more. Lifeguards are always present on the beaches.

Local travel agencies offer boat and yacht trips.

Spa and thalassotherapy

Chocolate SPA in Tunisian hotels

The country is famous for its wellness treatments using sea mud and algae. Guests will find hammam, body wraps, massage for every taste, water gymnastics and much more. Many wellness centers are located in hotels. In Hammamet, these are Bio Azur, Aziza and Thalgo, in Sousse - El Mouradi Palace and Karthago El Ksar, on the island of Djerba - Ulisee Palace and Yadis Thalassa. Each center has experienced doctors who will advise on a particular procedure. Prices are lower than in Israel or Switzerland.

Egypt. Due to its high salt content, the Red Sea is already a spa in itself and has a beneficial effect on the body. Most hotels have their own programs, including massage, mud and water treatments. Special attention should be paid to Cleopatra's baths with flower petals or milk and honey extracts.

According to reviews of tourists, a wide range of spa services are available in hotels Royal albatros(Sharm El Sheikh), Makadi Spa, Moevenpick Resort (El Gouna), Mirage New Hawaii (Hurghada).

Service in hotels

Objectively speaking, the service in Egypt is better. What can tourists in Tunisia be unhappy with? There are frequent complaints about old furniture, broken plumbing, staff slowness, lack of towels. If the manager does not immediately respond to your requests, this is a common practice even for five-star hotels. Before choosing, carefully read the reviews, read about the shortcomings. Nevertheless, minor everyday problems should not become an obstacle to visiting Tunisia, because this trip in any case will give a lot of positive emotions thanks to the wonderful climate, beautiful Sidi Bou Said, thalassotherapy and fresh seafood.

Vacation with children

Hammamet. Kids on the beach

Both Tunisia and Egypt are great for families with children. Consider the benefits:

  • sandy beaches, easy entry into the water;
  • most hotels have animation and children's corners, drawing and handicraft lessons are conducted for young guests, there is a babysitting service;
  • water parks and attractions for every taste.

Turkey - 30 million tourists a year; Tunisia - 6 million Nevertheless, the comparison of the two countries does not lose its relevance from year to year before the season. This is what we will do!

"Which is better - Tunisia or Turkey?" - of course, an ambiguous question.

History and geography already determine the differences and characteristics: taste, color, flavor. For one - this is the ultimate dream, and for another - a waste of time. We propose to close the subjective debate and listen to the facts and your own response. So, we decide where it is better to go on vacation - to Turkey or Tunisia?

Tour prices

Last minute tours to Turkey from 8,000 rubles are the norm, and you will have "all inclusive". You will leave for Tunisia for 20 thousand, if the stars converge ... And, God forbid, not everything will be "off". We will talk about the level of service and quality below, but for now, consider the prices for tours to Tunisia and Turkey.

  • In 2019, the cost of an all-inclusive ticket to Turkey starts from 45,000 rubles for 7 nights for two (departure from Moscow, hotel 3 *)
  • A similar tour to Tunisia - from 60,000 rubles

The most budgetary vacation is both there and there in April-May and September-October, however, in these months, Turkey wins in price. Plus, it offers a wider variety of family tours (with good discounts for children).

Where to look for tours on your own?

Both countries proudly bear the burden of “tour resorts”: the tour is guaranteed to be cheaper independent trip... It is even more profitable to monitor vouchers online, rather than storming travel agencies. You select the options yourself, read the reviews, focus on the cost and, in the end, find "the one".

You can study offers from all tour operators at once - which means that you can catch available promotions for Tunisia or Turkey on 3 large aggregators:

The services analyze the databases of verified companies, compare prices and show the lowest possible prices for the required dates.

(Tunisia, Monastir) / Our trip to Alanya, Turkey

Where is it cheaper to have a rest?

Having found out that it is cheaper to go to Turkey, let’s say a word about specific cities and towns, because a resort is not necessary for a resort.

  • Turkey: you can have an inexpensive vacation in Alanya, Kemer, Antalya
  • Tunisia: in Sousse (except for the Port el-Kantaoui area), Monastir

Where is the warmer climate? Country weather

Where it will be warmer, in Turkey or Tunisia, depends on the time of year: if in the first season the beach season can be opened in mid-April, then in the second it is rainy during this period. But the comfortable weather lasts in Tunisia until the end of October - when in Turkey you no longer really want to undress to a swimsuit.

🇹🇳 Tunisia is subtropics + desert, sand, rocks and date palms. Summer is hot, to put it mildly.

A real beach holiday is possible in May and September-October: the absence of humidity gives a mild pleasant climate.

In winter, it is quite warm, + 20 ° С is quite real - Germans and French sunbathe on the beaches (they do not climb into the water).

Where is the best place to relax - in Turkey or Tunisia?
