Polikarya waterfall

Polykarya waterfall (also known as "Pants") is one of the highest and most picturesque waterfalls in Sochi, about 70 meters high. Moreover, it is in relatively easy accessibility for tourists. A year ago, in June 2016, this excursion route became available to the mass tourist. Thanks to the launch of the resort's cable cars in the "Eastern Sector", the route to the finish point has become as easy as possible. The path to the waterfall now takes no more than 30 minutes. And, despite the fact that on May 20, the Main cable car was closed for routine maintenance, up to the Upper Town, at a height of 960 meters, it runs free transfer... From where the guests transfer to the gondola cabins of the K-10 road, then to the K-12 and K-13 chairlifts and get to the starting point of the walking route to the waterfall. However, for guests who like long hiking trails, there is always an opportunity to walk to the waterfall from 960 meters above sea level (the path takes about 2 hours one way).

The height of the waterfall is about 70 meters, it is located between 1450 and 1600 meters above sea level vertically. However, now the name of this waterfall is more often found as "Polykarya", and residents of Krasnaya Polyana call it "Pants". He received such a nickname because of two identical trouser-legs, which seethe most of all in late spring - early summer, during the period of active snow melting.

Relatively easy road, beautiful views from many viewpoints and swimming in a mountain stream. And also the opportunity to drive up to the mountain path by car. Lake Kardyvach

The pearl of Krasnaya Polyana routes, Mountain Lake Kardyvach has been attracting tourists and photographers for decades. It is necessary to plan a hike to Kardyvach in advance, because to visit you need to get a border pass, which is done for about a month.

The health trail (Rosa Khutor) consists of three hiking routes through the forest on the slopes of Mount Psekhako. Each of them has a different degree of difficulty. That it is not necessary to get here well - the trail starts right from the resort itself. The easiest route can be done by anyone - even a child can go through it. But the most difficult one will be overcome only by the most courageous - here it is about two hours of travel through the forest.

Immediately, we note that in Greater Sochi, various health paths and terrenkurs have recently come into vogue. Therefore, if you wanted to read about the terrenkur, which is located near Sochi, then this can be done.

The entire lower slope of Mount Psekhako, along which the terrain path of Rosa Khutor goes, is dotted with trees. In fact, this is a magnificent southern forest, through which a trail stylized as these almost wild places goes. In the warm season, the trees are covered with moss, turning the forest into plush and completely green, like a fairy tale. It should be borne in mind that on any route you have to go up, and if you do not like it at all, then you can hardly handle long routes.

The local health trail is one of the best places for a summer walk.

Routes

There are only 3 routes here, each of which starts between the beach and the hotel. They also end in one place - a little upstream from the entrance.

The easiest route is only 310 meters and you can walk it in 10-15 minutes. If you take a lot of time and take pictures wherever possible, then you can walk this third of a kilometer for about half an hour. More will hardly work. Interesting places here is the minimum

The middle ring is 1630 meters and if you follow it, the road will take you about an hour and a half. There will be two springs with drinking water, observation deck, a waterfall and one yoga area. And only here there is a small lake where you can swim. The water is really very cold. In the diagram, it is marked as a font.

The Big Ring - 1970 meters. The most difficult and longest way. It will take at least two hours. There will be no baptismal font, but there will be a Glade of Strength and another area for yoga.

Want more? Nobody bothers to combine all the paths into one mega-route and visit everything in general.

Where is it located and how to get there

The health mountain trail is located in the steepest mountain resort Rosa Khutor. It starts from the lake beach, which can be considered a starting point.

But to go for a walk along the health trail, you first need to somehow get to the mountain resort itself. There are four ways to get to Rosa Khutor:

  • You can independently drive your car. First you need to get to the Adler airport, and then just go straight along the A148 highway. The road is quite long - 40 kilometers from the airport, and more than 70 kilometers from the center of Sochi. But the road here is new and it is a pleasure to drive on it. In general, this is the most convenient way and it is good for everyone, except that the driver will have to drive a lot and not drink alcohol. If you go on a trip alone or together, then on gasoline it will turn out to be more expensive than an electric train and even more so a bus.
  • You can take the high-speed train Swallow. If you go from Sochi, then this is definitely the most quick way and at the same time quite comfortable. Electric trains are never overcrowded, unless something extraordinary is happening in the city, so the ride will be quite comfortable. Of the minuses, it is more expensive than by bus and you need to adjust to the schedule, which is not always pleasant
  • Another way to get to Rosa Khutor is, of course, by bus. Here best price, there is no strict binding to the schedule and place of start. For example, you can come from Sochi (105, 105С), from Khosta and Kudepsta and a bunch of stops along the way (105), and from Adler from the shopping center " New Age"(135). Naturally, you can sit at any stop on the A148 highway. Separately, it should be noted that in order to get guaranteed seating, you need to go from the initial stop (Sochi bus station or the Novy Vek shopping center in Adler).
  • Theoretically, you can come to Rosa Khutor within the framework of organized excursion... But there are no excursions from Sochi or Adler to the health path, so this option is not suitable for us in any case.
  • If you come by train, you will need to go upstream through the entire winter resort town to Mzymta Square. The journey will take about 15-20 minutes and there will be many shops along the way where you can buy something. You can identify the Mzymta square by McDonald's, which is located here. Then we cross the bridge and turn right. In a couple of minutes you will reach the next bridge. At him you need to turn left, walk along the path for another minute and then the path itself begins. You can navigate the lake beach "Rosa Khutor" located next to the trail.
  • If you come by bus, it will stop just near Mzymta Square. What to do next is described above. Where to go for those who independently arrived by car depends on where they managed to park it. In any case, be guided by the square and McDonald's.

I have been on your path. Somehow weak. Is there something more complicated?

There is always something more complicated.

Nearby there is a waterfall, the road to which is completely untouched. Once this route was popular among tourists who love leisure, but now everyone follows more comfortable routes.

You can also go to the waterfall in the Gorki Gorod resort. But not from the lift at an altitude of 960 meters, but from the very bottom. Then the path in one direction will be about 10 kilometers.

An even more challenging hike for. If he doesn't care for you, then you are enlightened and can do anything at all.

Should I go? (and a little about reviews)

Doubt whether this place is worth your attention? To be honest, I don’t know, because, unfortunately, I don’t know you. Therefore, if you love beautiful natural places and active walks, if you like forests and mountains, then worth it. Numerous reviews that can be found on the Internet are extremely monotonous - they say that the place is really cool. But if in your understanding best rest this is lying on the couch or, in extreme cases, on the beach, then despite all the reviews, you will hardly like it here.

A few points

  • the entrance is free
  • Take food and water with you. There is nowhere to buy it here
  • This is a wonderful place. And it will be just as great if you don't throw trash here. Respect beauty, nature and your country
  • The camera is an obligatory attribute in this trip. In addition to the beautiful forest, there are sometimes very steep views here.
  • An interesting figure: there are as many as 919 steps on all routes. This is really a lot. For girls, walking on it is a guarantee of a very beautiful priests. That's why this is a health path in general.
  • You should not walk along the trail in the rain and especially in the snow. The road can be very slippery and it is unsafe.
  • If you like active rest and are not here in winter time then be sure to visit the trail. This is an amazing place. A few meters from the most perfect mountain resort in Russia ... beautiful and almost wild places begin.

We spent one day in Krasnaya Polyana. All day long. Although we stayed there overnight, the next morning the journey continued, and we left for Adygea. Initially, they took a day to Krasnaya Polyana, as they had no idea what could be done here longer. Tourists and travelers travel from Sochi to Krasnaya Polyana mostly in one day (with excursions or on their own), and for many this is enough. We didn't have enough. I hope that my article will answer at least some of your questions about Krasnaya Polyana - what to do and what to see, where to stay, where to eat inexpensively and, of course, how many days to travel.
To begin with, on what they themselves gave a blunder - how many days. For an overview acquaintance, a car traveler will have enough daylight hours, for a deeper one - at least three. Rest in Krasnaya Polyana assumes, in my opinion, at least five days. The bigger, the better. One thing I can say for sure - it's worth going here! Firstly, it is incredibly beautiful here - mountains, mountain rivers, waterfalls, snow in summer, blooming rhododendrons, delightful air. Secondly, it is interesting here - there is something to see, plunge into the atmosphere of a ski resort, see the fashionable Olympic Rosa Khutor and Gorki Gorod, or even explore new, much less known natural places and attractions.

We left until we dropped that day. By evening, Sophie had already climbed onto her father's neck, or rather shoulders, because she could not walk from fatigue. I don’t remember how I moved. But knowing myself, I can assume that I kept myself only on the inspiration and delight that the Caucasus mountains and the healing aura of these places breathed into us.

Krasnaya Polyana (district), in addition to Krasnaya Polyana itself, includes several settlements- the village of Esto-Sadok (incl. ski resorts Rosa Khutor, Gorki Gorod, Gazprom), the villages of Medoveevka, Kepsha and Chvizhepse. I told you a little about Chvizheps (Bear's corner) in the article about. So the uniqueness of these places (Sochi national park!) you imagine.

Krasnaya Polyana is a part of Greater Sochi, its mountainous part. This is a mountain climatic resort, a place where everything heals - air, climate, sun.

Krasnaya Polyana is interesting not only for those who are fond of alpine skiing... It is an attractive place for tourists, travelers, vacationers. Moreover, it is attractive all year round. And what a grace here for romantics, lovers of beautiful landscapes, photographers and amateur photographers! Awesome place! Expensive enough to rest ski resort, but quite an accessible place for visiting, where, even in the absence of serious Money you can have an unforgettable time. I mean both a sightseeing tourist trip and independent travel for several days. Independent, of course, first and foremost.
Krasnaya Polyana made an indelible impression on us. With pleasure and curiosity we looked at Esta-Sadok, Gorki Gorod, walked along the embankment of the Mzymta River in Rosa Dolina and the Cultural and Ethnographic Center "My Russia". Beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, well-groomed, unusual.

But the main entertainment in Krasnaya Polyana is cable cars and lifts. Most of all we were shocked, of course, by the mountains and landscapes, which can be contemplated "at arm's length." Even now I cannot calmly look at the photographs taken at the Mountain Carousel. I will make separate posts about the mountains and, possibly, the center "My Russia". I can't "bury" a huge amount of cool photos. :)

Now closer to the point. To the report. If we decompose all the events of that day in chronology, then everything happened like this:

  • The road from Sochi to Krasnaya Polyana,
  • check-in at the hotel "Paradise House",
  • Slides City, climbing the mountains on the lift "Mountain Carousel",
  • a walk through Rosa Khutor,
  • center "My Russia"
  • dinner at Pelmennaya in the Siberia pavilion,
  • return to the hotel "Paradise House" for the night.

The road from Sochi to Krasnaya Polyana

Absolutely not burdensome, high-quality, very picturesque road leads us from the sea to the mountains.

The day turned out to be hot. In the sun + 34 + 35 ° C, which is indicated by an electronic board above the track.

Tunnels, bridges, junctions - everything is modern, interesting, cool.

In parallel with us, an electric train is rapidly rushing to Krasnaya Polyana.

You twist your head in all directions. Everything is great and beautiful!

Stella is installed on historical site, where a peace treaty was signed that put an end to the Caucasian War.

The inscription on the pyramid-stone: "Here on May 21, 1864, the long-term Caucasian War ended with a parade of Russian troops. 1878 - the foundation of the village of Krasnaya Polyana, 1897 - 1899 - the construction of the Adler - Krasnaya Polyana road ...". And so on - the main milestones in the development of the village.

On one of the edges there are lines from a poem by M.Yu. Lermontov's "Caucasus". How much they are in tune with my soul:

"Although I am destiny at the dawn of my days,
O southern mountains, cut away from you,
To remember them forever, you have to be there once:
Like the sweet song of my fatherland,
I love the Caucasus ... "

Taking a look at the surroundings from the platform by the stella, we drove on.

Krasnaya Polyana ... Through the entire village runs the A148 highway - the street of the Protectors of the Caucasus. On both sides of it there are numerous hotels, as well as shops, gas stations and more. It is quite convenient, coming to Krasnaya Polyana, to stay here, in the village itself. Yes, you have to go to the sights, this place is only suitable for spending the night, but, firstly, it is not far away, and, secondly, accommodation here is much cheaper than in Esto-Sadok and its mountain resorts.

Hotel "Paradise house"

The street where the hotel stands, the hotel gate.

The hotel building is in the form of a chalet.

Our bungalow is on the far right on the ground floor.

View from the window.

On the doorstep of the room.

We settled in the hotel and immediately left it - went to see Krasnaya Polyana.

Past the Rosneft gas station

past cafes and hotels,

marveling at the beauty of wooded mountains, a variety of incomprehensible structures

and the cable car cabins flying over the cars

we got to the City Hill.

Gorki Gorod, "Mountain Carousel"

Gorki Gorod resort is located in the village of Esto-Sadok. He is the first on the way from the village of Krasnaya Polyana to the resort of Rosa Khutor. We decided to start watching Krasnaya Polyana from here.

We enter the territory, go to the underground parking.

Parking cost: the first hour is free, the second and subsequent hours are 50 rubles per hour.

Entrance to the parking lot.

We parked, go to the ticket offices of the Mountain Carousel. A huge incomprehensible price-list enters into a stupor. Therefore, we just asked at the ticket office how much it cost to ride the cable car. If I'm not confused, we pay 1,100 rubles. per person to climb to a height of 2,375 (peak " Black pyramid"- the most high point descent). We thought it would be more expensive. Sonya went free.

Opening hours of the ropeways of the Gorki Gorod resort in the summer.

We are going to land. Since I am thinking of making a separate post about Gorki Gorod and in particular about cable car riding, here, in the report, I will show everything very briefly.
"Mountain Carousel" is a part of the resort "Gorky Gorod", which is located at different levels: at heights of 540 m. - "Lower City", 960 m. - "Upper City", 1 500 m. And 2 200 m. - cable cars ... 2375 m. - "Black Pyramid" peak. The "Lower" and "Upper" levels are connected by a road and a cable car. There is a serious infrastructure, hotels, restaurants, cafes ...

To climb to a height of 2,375 meters, we had to drive five sections of the cable car. Three in booths, two in chairs.
First section. We sit down in Lower town- mark 540 m. We are going in a booth. The visibility is not very good due to the thick scratched glasses. And they noticed that all the booths are different. There are also good glasses, there is an excellent overview.

The first change is in the Upper Town, at an altitude of 960 meters.

Full delight! The soul freezes from the surrounding species.

We arrive at a height of 1,460 m.

The final dash is very powerful and the most scenic

to the peak "Black Pyramid".

It seems that mountains, snow and flowers can be touched with your hand - they are so close.

We're at 2,375.

And no matter which edge of the mountain you approach, magnificent views open up. You can look at the mountains forever.

And then ... a downpour poured down.

Not only did we forget the prepared package with warm sweaters in the car, but without warm clothes it is very cold at this height. It is not just that the snow does not melt here even when the heat is below. So the icy rain still covered us. Everyone was urgently forced to load onto the cable car. We rode in a closed booth, and the downpour gushed down our bare legs. It was something ...

and admire the crazy beauty of the mountains and the Rhododendron Valley.

I tried to absorb all this beauty with every cell, remember, enjoy. The cable car worker showed us mountain goats and goats walking in the mountains, told stories about them.

Well, then the test of beauty and cold ended, and we drove on ...

We walked a bit along the Gorki Gorod. The architecture, of course, is peculiar. But it's curious to look at, curious ... The atmosphere of the resort is relaxing. Hunting to drive a bald, to sit in a street cafe under an umbrella, not to rush anywhere ... But for this you need to come here to rest for a few days.

And we went to Rosa Khutor. We spent a lot of time at the Mountain Carousel. We had to hurry.

Rosa Khutor

We arrived at Rosa Khutor at half past five.

They did not philosophize with parking -

parked the car along the road - like everyone else.

We went out to the embankment approximately in its middle. The mountain river is noisy ... :) Beauty!

Rosa Dolina is a cozy corner in the style of alpine villages. Europe, tree-sticks! The eye rejoices. :)

Diagram of the Rose of the Valley.

Town Hall building. Before her - central square resort.

Alley of Olympic stars.

McDonald's, ticket offices for the cable car "Rosa Khutor" - the most popular cable car in Krasnaya Polyana. We flew with her. Two cable cars in one day is too much. But McDuck was visited. The most economical snack option in Rosa Khutor, again a free toilet.

On the square we saw the "Jazz Manor" festival. How I wanted to relax, lie back in a sun lounger, listen to music and no-a-do-no-hurry ...

That is why you need to come to Krasnaya Polyana for longer.

The walk was pleasant, but we didn't know "where to run." I wanted to be in time everywhere, to see everything.

Of what I saw, I was most struck by the landscapes, I liked beach area, nice bodies of water.

Tourists are transported to Rosa Khutor in trains. The huge parking lot was jam-packed with buses of all kinds.

Go along the Panorama embankment towards the waterfall.

You turn around and ... ah! The beauty!

Krasnaya Polyana is one of the most popular mountain tourism centers in the former Soviet republics. It is located on the border with the large Caucasian nature reserve. It is here that most of the hiking trails in the surrounding mountains begin. The hikes can be completely different. For inexperienced tourists, a hike with one or two nights is offered. For the more experienced, a whole week of rest in the mountains. Further in the article, you can study the list of routes and a detailed list of everything you need on the hike.

TOP popular routes:

Let's consider the most popular tourist routes Sochi. For easier reference, we will arrange the routes in order from shortest to longest. At the same time, we took into account the travel time from the center of Sochi to the destination and back. For example, from the city of Adler to Krasnaya Polyana can be reached in 40 minutes. And an ordinary Sochi bus will finish in an hour and a half.

The first circular route is the shortest. Here the walk will take no more than an hour. The second is up to 4 hours long. Why Krasnaya Polyana

Of the minuses, one should separately highlight the small height of the local mountains. There are also no large sheer cliffs. Because of which this region of little interest to climbers. And the absence of serious glaciers is of little use for winter species sports. Also, minor difficulties arise due to the fact that Krasnaya Polyana is partially located in a conservation area.
