Where to go for the company of youth

If you plan to leave young people without children, then it is worth visiting:

  • Budva;
  • Herceg Novi.

Budva

One of the most popular resort destinations in Montenegro is the small town of Budva. Founded over 2500 years ago, it has a rich history. This is reflected in the architecture of the city and its main attractions.

pros

Budva and its surroundings form the largest tourist center of Montenegro - the Budva Riviera. The undoubted advantages of this place include:

  1. Developed infrastructure.
  2. Abundance of cafes, restaurants, clubs and other places of public catering.
  3. The ability to choose housing to fit your budget.
  4. A variety of excursions and attractions, both within the city limits and within a few kilometers from it.
  5. Clean sandy beaches in this Montenegrin resort with free entrance.
  6. Lots of cultural events, exhibitions and evening shows.
  7. Playgrounds and parks especially for children.
  8. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are outdoor courts, basketball courts and bike rentals. And also there is the opportunity to go diving and windsurfing.

The city of Budva has a lot of entertainment for people of all ages and with all preferences.

Minuses

This also has a number of negative characteristics. So, it is not very suitable for lovers of a calm, measured rest. Other disadvantages include:

  1. High level of prices.
  2. A large number of people. This is the most popular holiday destination in Montenegro. From May to October, the city's population almost triples. This leads to a lot of crowding on the beaches and lines in shops and cafes.
  3. Constant noise. In Budva, most of the clubs and restaurants are open until 3-4 in the morning. It is not always possible to enjoy a restful sleep here. On holidays, people walk on the streets until dawn, which creates a certain amount of noise.

This place is more suitable for young people than for families with children or people interested in a relaxing holiday.

sights

The main attractions are the Old Town and the island of St. Nicholas.

The Old Town is a place where the original architecture of houses, part of the fortress wall and 4 churches have been preserved. Here you can admire the view of Budva and take memorable pictures. The temples house museums that tell the history of these places.

The island of St. Nicholas is famous for its beach and "Duklyansky gardens". You can get to it using a water taxi or a shuttle boat. There are coral reefs not far from it, which makes this place especially attractive for divers.

Herceg Novi

It is a small town located on the shores of the Bay of Kotor. Its peculiarity is the wide variety of local flora.

There are legends according to which merchants, sailing to this place, made a stop here to replenish supplies of food and water. To prevent the plants they transported from withering, they were planted in the soil. They liked the local land so much that they easily took root and began to bear fruit. Therefore, here you can find both cacti and palms, as well as exotic fruit trees and flowers.

pros

The advantages of this resort include:

  1. The beautiful architecture of the city, which has been preserved since its foundation.
  2. A large number of trees, which helps to shelter from the summer heat.
  3. Variety of fruits and vegetables.
  4. Low prices compared to other popular resorts.
  5. Convenient alleys and terraces for long walks.
  6. The lack of a large number of tourists.
  7. Clear water and coral reefs.

It is suitable for people who like long walks during the day and a quiet rest at night.

Minuses

This place is not suitable for families with children and people who find it difficult to walk a lot. The entire city is located on hills, and the abundance of stairs can make it uncomfortable for vacationers.

The disadvantages also include:

  1. The predominance of concrete or pebble beaches.
  2. All the main attractions of Montenegro are removed from the city.
  3. The water temperature here is on average two degrees lower.
  4. Due to the cleanliness at the bottom you can find sea urchins, therefore, it is advisable to swim in special shoes.
  5. There are no convenient beaches for children and those who cannot swim.

Choosing Herceg Novi for recreation, you need to take into account the peculiarity of its location. The hilly terrain is both a plus for cycling enthusiasts and a minus for young children and people with disabilities.

sights

The main feature of this place is Mount Orjen. Its peak is located at 1895 m above sea level. Snow here lasts until mid-May. This provides a unique opportunity to combine beach holidays with skiing and snowboarding. It is because of this that Herceg Novi is more often referred to as a ski resort, and not as a summer resort.

Also, tourists love to walk around the Old City and the clock tower - Sahat-Kula. It was built in the 17th century, next to the Orthodox Church of the Archangel Michael (14th century) and the Kanli-Kula mosque (15th century).

There is also a regional museum in the Old Town. It displays ancient coins, amphorae and tools that were found during archaeological excavations. This museum is surrounded by a garden with over a hundred species of different flowers and trees brought from different countries.

Must see

Another tourist attraction is Cetinje. it ancient capital Montenegro. The Orthodox Church, the palace of King Nicholas I and the oldest building in the country, the Zeta House, have been preserved in it. Entrance to the territory is allowed only as part of excursion groups.

Resorts in Montenegro can delight people of all tastes and budgets. When choosing a place to stay, you just need to decide what you want and choose the best option. Mild climate, good infrastructure and a variety of attractions will help make your trip to this country perfect.

Although Montenegro is a relatively small country, there are still many different resorts here. Therefore, tourists often wonder which city is better to rest in Montenegro.
In this article, we will briefly tell you about the resorts of Montenegro and help you choose the most suitable resort for you. Although the resorts of Montenegro are close to each other, their character can vary greatly.

Resorts of Montenegro by the sea

Most tourists come to Montenegro in order to relax by the sea. For this reason, they choose resorts that are located right on the coast. In principle, all the famous resorts in Montenegro, except for Zabljak, are located on the seashore. There are, of course, such famous cities as Cetinje and Podgorica, but they are not considered resorts. Below are the main resorts of Montenegro by the sea.

Herceg Novi

This is the most northern resort Montenegro, which is located on the shores of the Bay of Kotor. Herceg Novi lies opposite the Lustica peninsula and is a rather beautiful city. It is famous for its Old Town and the Igalo Sanatorium, which uses sand from a nearby beach to treat diseases. Despite the fact that Herceg Novi is a rather romantic city, it can also be recommended to young people, as there are several good discos here.
In the city of Herceg Novi itself there is no nice beaches but you can visit the amazing nearby beaches that can be reached by boat. These are such beaches as Zanzice, Miriste and Rose. There are many beautiful hotels such as Palmon Bay, Perla, Club Rivijera and Institut Igalo, as well as numerous villas and apartments for rent.

Advantages of the Herceg Novi resort:
1. Amazing atmosphere. The city will surely appeal to lovers of quiet rest and romantics.
2. Not a boring place. Although resort towns and villages on the shores of the Bay of Kotor are generally boring places, Herceg Novi clearly stands out from all other resorts.
3. Ability to quickly get to, and many other interesting places.

Cons of the resort of Herceg Novi:
1. Remote location from important tourist centers and many.
2. No, but you can get to the beaches by boat.

Kotor

Not all of the best resorts in Montenegro are suitable for a beach holiday. You have already seen this by the example of the city of Herceg Novi. But the city of Kotor is also not recommended for those tourists who want to spend a lot of time on the beach. You ask, why then go to this resort at all? You will definitely like Kotor if you want to enjoy the atmosphere of a city frozen in time every day. Not everyone goes on vacation just to wallow on the beach. Moreover, living in Kotor does not deprive you of this pleasure, because there are good beaches not far from the city. In addition, if you go on vacation to Montenegro on your own, you can spend a few days in Kotor, and spend the rest of the time in some beach resort.
Note that Kotor is a good base for excursions along the Boka Kotorska Bay, trips to Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as for hiking into the mountains.

Advantages of the resort of Kotor:

1. Rich historical heritage.
2. Stunning views of the Bay of Kotor and mountains.
3. An excellent base for boat trips, walks and bike rides.
4. Interesting Old Town with a market.

Cons of the resort of Kotor:
1. Not within the city limits.
2. Not the best place for young people.
3. There can be many tourists during the day and evening.

Tivat

Unlike neighboring Kotor, Tivat is a more modern city. It is the youngest town on the coast of the Bay of Kotor with a luxurious marina and a small natural harbor. Tivat will appeal to those tourists who like to relax in stylish hotels, dine and dine in romantic restaurants, go shopping ... Although Tivat is not the best place for a beach holiday in Montenegro, there are several beautiful beaches in the area of this resort. So for a beach holiday, this resort is much better suited than Kotor.
The most popular places in Tivat are the modern Porto Montenegro complex with the 5-star Regent Hotel and the island of Saint Mark. Near Tivat is probably the best beach in the Bay of Kotor, called Plavi Horizonti (Blue Horizons). This is an amazing and very popular beach. But in the area of the city there are several other pretty good beaches. For living in Tivat I can recommend such hotels as Hotel Palma, Pine, Galathea and Kamelija.
Tivat is the only coastal city in Montenegro with an international airport, and most tourists from Russia arrive at this airport.

Advantages of the Tivat resort:
1. The best place for a beach holiday on the shores of the Bay of Kotor. If you basically want to relax on the shores of this bay, but at the same time it is important for you to have good beaches, then you will not find a better option than Tivat.
2. Modern and very beautiful city... Here you can put on your trendy clothes and take a walk in the evening or afternoon along the promenade.
3. Convenient location. From Tivat you can quickly reach such important resorts as Kotor and Budva.
4. Convenient base for and independent travel.
5. The best place to study. I would recommend at least a day and a trip to this peninsula.

Cons of Tivat resort:

1. A relatively expensive resort. Do not be surprised at the high prices in the restaurants and cafes of Tivat, as this is an elite resort, which is sometimes called the "new Monaco".

Other resorts on the shores of the Bay of Kotor

In fact, on the shores of the Bay of Kotor, you will find many more small resorts... I have presented only 3 of the most popular coastal cities. If you want to relax in more quiet place, you can pay attention to such resorts of Montenegro as Biela, Risan, Perast, Orahovac and Kindness... There are even smaller villages, but there are almost no hotels in them, although rental housing can be found.

Budva

In most cases, travel agents advise tourists to go on vacation to Budva. In fact, Budva is a universal resort that suits everyone. Is that lovers of a quiet holiday in romantic place won't find a suitable environment here during the peak season.
Budva is considered the best beach resort in Montenegro, as the beautiful beaches of Jaz, Mogren and Slavic beach are located in the area of this city. In addition, next to Budva is one of the best beaches Montenegro for families with children: Becici.
If you do not know which resort in Montenegro to choose, then we advise you to pay attention to Budva. You are unlikely to go wrong if you go on vacation to this particular place.

Advantages of the Budva resort:

1. The most popular resort in Montenegro. If you want to get the greatest opportunities in everything, then it is better to choose Budva.
2. Several.
3. An excellent base for.
4. Huge selection of entertainment. Budva is the best place for young people in Montenegro.
5. Low prices in restaurants and cafes. At least in Budva, it's not hard to find a place with low prices.

Cons of the resort Budva:
1. During peak high season, the resort can get crowded.

Becici

Who should choose Becici resort? Personally, I always recommend this resort for families with children who go to Montenegro for an all inclusive beach vacation. The resort area has several all-inclusive hotels with their own well-equipped beach area. It is also worth noting that Becici is located near Budva, so you can go for a walk at any time. famous city with a beautiful old quarter.
Becici resort is known for its excellent resorts such as Splendid, Iberostar, Mediteran, Sentido tara and Queen of Montenegro. Also, Beciciai offers a large selection of villas and apartments for rent.

Advantages of the Becici resort:
1. An excellent, well-equipped beach with a gradual entrance to the sea.
2. Fine hotels, including .
3. Close proximity to the most popular resort in Montenegro, Budva.

Cons of the Becici resort:

1. There is only one beach to choose from.
2. Not the best place for non-all inclusive vacationers.

Petrovac

Another great place for a beach holiday in Montenegro is Petrovac. This resort is located almost in the very center of the Adriatic coast of Montenegro, so from here you can go to the beaches both in Ulcinj in the south and in Budva in the north. But Petrovac itself has very good beaches. Chief among them is the city beach, which is usually crowded during the peak season. But the neighboring Lucice beach is also often overcrowded. If you want to relax in a less noisy place, we recommend taking a taxi to the Buljarica beach, which is just 2 km from Petrovac.
Petrovac itself is a fairly calm resort in the evening, although it is quite noisy during the day. Since the city is located on the main coastal road, you can get from here to any other resort in Montenegro by bus.

Advantages of the Petrovac resort:
1. Cozy atmosphere and close location of all objects to each other.
2. Three pretty good and large beaches.
3. Convenient location for travel to other resorts in Montenegro.
4. Calm and relaxed atmosphere. After 11 o'clock in the evening, the streets become very quiet.

Disadvantages of the Petrovac resort:
1. One of the most crowded resorts in Montenegro. There are many locals here on weekends.
2. Petrovac may seem like a boring place for active people.

Sutomore

The next city by the sea when moving south along the coastline is Sutomore. It belongs to the municipality of Bar and is known for its excellent main beach, coastal restaurants and cafes. Sato and Hotel Korali are the most famous hotels in Sutomore, but there are also numerous apartments and houses for rent in the city.

Advantages of the Sutomore resort:
1. Long and wide sandy beach.
2. A compact city where everything is within walking distance.
3. Possibility to quickly get by bus both to Budva and to Ulcinj and Podgorica.

Cons of the Sutomore resort:
1. There are a lot of people on the beach on summer weekends. It seems that all of Podgorica comes to rest in this city by the sea.
2. A small selection of hotels. In fact, apart from Sato and Hotel Korali, there are no normal hotels here.

Bar

Although Bar is considered primarily a port city, it is also considered to be a very popular resort. In fact, Bar is the third most popular resort in Montenegro after Budva and Becici. It attracts tourists with cheap housing and low prices for food in cafes and restaurants. There are not many hotels here, but there is a lot of rental housing. The Bar has everything for a long stay in rented accommodation, as there are several supermarkets and a large farmers' market in the city. Note that not far from modern city The bar is located in the Old Town, which is almost completely destroyed. But it is still worth a visit. One of the most famous landmarks of this city is the old olive tree, which is more than 2000 years old.
Bar is a city and sea port in the southern part of the Montenegrin coast with a rich cultural and architectural heritage. Its population is about 40,000 inhabitants.

Pros of the Resort Bar:
1. Several in the city itself and around it.
2. Big city with many interesting places.
3. Large selection of restaurants and cafes with low prices.

Cons of Resort Bar:
1. Bar is still more of a coastal town than a resort, so there is no such relaxed atmosphere as in Budva or Becici.
2. Ships often pass near the city, so the water in the sea may not be the cleanest in Montenegro.

Ulcinj

The southernmost city of Montenegro differs from other resorts in that the majority of the population is Muslim. However, tourists feel comfortable here.
Ulcinj has a population of about 11,000. it real paradise for tourists who prefer the open sea and long sandy beaches. The main beach in the area of this city is 12 km long. Not far from Ulcinj is the island of Ada Bojana, which is located in the place where the Bojana River flows into the sea. This island also has a nice sandy beach which is popular with nudists. It is the perfect place to relax away from the crowds and modern lifestyle.
In Ulcinj itself you can find the Old Town and the Small Beach. There are other interesting sights that you can find out about in a separate article.

The best resorts of Montenegro

It is difficult to single out the best resorts in Montenegro for the reason that for different types recreation is better suited to different resorts. Therefore, we decided to highlight the best resorts in Montenegro according to various important criteria.
Best Resort for romantics- Herceg Novi
Best Resort for history lovers- Kotor
Most glamorous resort- Tivat
Best Resort for young people- Budva
Best Resort for family vacation - Becici
Best Resort for an all-inclusive holiday- Becici
Best Resort for lovers of water parks- Budva
Best beach resort - Petrovac

The most popular resort in Montenegro

Here, of course, the choice is obvious, because in terms of popularity, Budva noticeably surpasses almost all other resorts combined. More than half of tourists from Russia choose Budva for recreation.
The popularity of this resort is due to the fact that there is everything for everyone. For families with children, there are good beaches and a variety of entertainment, for young people there are discos and bars, for gourmets in Budva there are many good restaurants... And, of course, do not forget about the large selection of hotels that can accommodate all this huge crowd of tourists.

The best resort in Montenegro for families with children

I think Becici is the best resort in Montenegro for families with children. I said above that this resort has a great beach and some good all inclusive hotels.
The resorts of Budva, Sutomore, Petrovac and Bar are also great for families with children. But I would not recommend Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat and Ulcinj for families with children. Of course, in these cities it is not forbidden to relax with kids, but it would just be right to choose a resort that is more suitable for children.

The best youth resort in Montenegro

There is no doubt that Budva is the best youth resort Montenegro. In summer, young people cannot be bored here, because local clubs and bars are literally bursting with a huge number of people. In addition to discos, there are many other entertainments for young people in Budva.
If for some reason you do not want to go to Budva, but want to relax in a city where there are good clubs, then we advise you to visit Herceg Novi.

Montenegro- can the name sound better resort country... Unlikely… Montenegro Is her middle name. Intrigue, mystery, aroma of spices of distant countries and adventures are heard in this word.

Montenegro is one of the youngest countries in the world. Montenegrins received independence from Serbia in 2006. We can say with confidence that this was good for the state - from the depressed region of Yugoslavia, Montenegro turned into largest resort world, with a very attractive investment climate. This is confirmed by our compatriots buying villas and apartments.

Resorts of Montenegro

Currently resorts of Montenegro are highly popular with Russian tourists. What is it that attracts tourists to rest in this country? There are many reasons for this. After all, there is ecologically clean nature, beautiful coasts with many bays and bays, numerous beaches, majestic black mountains and turbulent rivers flowing in deep canyons, century-old olive groves and pine forests, medieval towns with interesting architecture and culture, in a word, everything to make your stay in hotels or apartments unforgettable.

The climate here is mild, hot, but not humid. In summer, the temperature reaches + 22-35 degrees. In the east, in mountainous areas, the air temperature ranges from + 19-25 degrees. The water temperature, in summer, reaches +26 degrees.

The territory of Montenegro is divided into three parts: the coastal zone, the central part and the east with its beautiful mountain ranges. Such geographical position and the climate makes the local resorts unique. In this country, you can ride in the morning alpine skiing, and by lunchtime, having driven 100-120 km, sunbathe on the beach. Moreover, the infrastructure for winter tourism is no worse developed than in the world famous resorts, and the mountain hotels of Montenegro are attractions in themselves. On winter tourism, the cities of Kolasin and Zabljak specialize.

Montenegro is a small country, therefore resort areas located rather compactly. There are two airports in Montenegro, they are located in Tivat and Podgorica, and their location allows you not to waste a lot of time on the way to the hotel.

Montenegro is renowned for its hospitality and love of relaxation. The Montenegrins even have a special set of rules stating that "All illnesses from work, do not die young", but "If you see that someone is working, do not bother him, if you see that someone is resting, help him." ...
Therefore, it is no wonder that in a glorious country, where everyone is ruled by the love of relaxation and you need to spend your vacation. Or make yourself a little respite from business and worries by going to one of the Montenegrin resorts for the weekend. Citizens of Russia and the countries of the former CIS do not need a visa to Montenegro, and a direct flight takes no more than three hours.

When is the best time to go to Montenegro

The best seasons for holidays in Montenegro:

until mid-July- great weather and prices for accommodation.
mid-July - end of August- high season. Everything is consistently good: the weather, the sea, and only the prices in restaurants increase by 5-10 euros.
Septemberthe Velvet season... The weather is still comfortable and warm, you can still swim even in early October, but evenings are getting chilly. And, as a result, everything is getting cheaper from the cost of living to the prices in a cafe.
By the way, about the prices in restaurants. In high season, a trip to a restaurant located on the coast will cost 20-25 euros per person with drinks, if you order meat dishes, with seafood dishes 35 euros. The same menu, but within the city it will be 10-12 euros cheaper.

Both airports on the coast are easily accessible by taxi. From Tivat airport to Budva, the cost of a taxi ride is about 20 euros. From Podgorica to Budva, a taxi will cost from 30 to 50 euros, depending on the chosen company. The most profitable option in Tivat Red taxi(tel: 068 - 0 - 19729) - landing 50 eurocents, kilometer - 80 eurocents, in Podgorica - Red line(tel: 068 - 0 - 19714) - the cost of a trip from the airport to Budva is 30 euros, to Ulcinj - 45 euros.

Features of beach holidays in Montenegro

In Montenegro, all beaches are considered municipal, which implies free access to the sea, but you will have to pay from 5 to 7 euros for sun loungers and umbrellas. The exception is the most beautiful Montenegrin beach - Queen's beach, only guests can relax on it Villa Milocer... Two more beaches are "partially" available for vacationers in Montenegro: King's beach, on which you can only sunbathe if you must rent a sunbed and an umbrella for 75 euros per day, and east beach on the island of Sveti Stefan, where those wishing to swim will have to pay 50 euros for two sun loungers and an umbrella, otherwise they will simply not be allowed to soak up the beach.
But the cost of a sun lounger on the beach for the price of a daily hotel stay is not a reason for frustration. There are many beaches in Montenegro and, as mentioned above, they are free for everyone and you can choose to your taste: from the coast of Croatia to the Bay of Kotor - Duke Novskaya Riviera with rocky beaches, middle part Montenegrin coast - Budva Riviera with a pebble coast, and the southern part of Montenegro, from the city Ulcinj - "Big Beach" with gray volcanic sand, 13 kilometers long.

Milozer and Saint Stephen

Sveti Stefan is an island connected to the mainland by a sandbank, a city-hotel, a visiting card of Montenegro. Back in the 15th century, the inhabitants of the island built a fortress on a rock in the sea, which protected the population from pirate raids, which, centuries later, became the exclusive property of Montenegro. In 1957, the island was chosen by the artists Peter Lubarba and Milo Milunovic, who bought the island's lands from the fishermen who inhabited it and opened a city-hotel on Sveti Stefan. Since that time, the island has become synonymous with luxury relaxation: pink sand, warm waters and perfectly preserved architecture of the Middle Ages fascinated everyone who visited St. Stephen at least once. Sophia Loren, Sylvester Stalone, Kirk Douglas, Willie Brant, Claudia Fischer and even Leonid Brezhnev did not deny himself the pleasure of hiding from prying eyes among the luxury of a Montenegrin resort.
Nowadays, united by a road with an island on the mainland, there is Milocer. Where until the middle of the 20th century there was a summer residence of the royal family of Karadjordjevici.

Ulcinj is the southernmost region of Montenegro, located on the border with Albania. Distinctive feature the resort has unparalleled sandy beaches. In addition to the public beach, there is also a nudist beach and a "female" beach with hydrogen sulphide springs. There are many galleries, restaurants and cafes in the Old Town. Gorgeous Valdanos bay where it is good to walk among thickets of olive trees.
The only drawback of rest in Ulcinj is its remoteness from Tivat and Podgorica, so it is worthwhile to leave for the airport in advance. If you are going to stay in Montenegro for a long time, it makes sense to look at apartments or apartments, there are very nice options.

In this article I will tell you about the best places to relax in Montenegro and where to go in Montenegro by the sea. I will tell you where it is better to relax with children in Montenegro and in which city of Montenegro it is better to relax, I will tell you about everything popular resorts Montenegro. We will also talk about the resorts of Montenegro with sandy beaches for relaxation and, of course, there will be photos of the resorts of Montenegro.

This article is my observations and personal feelings, perhaps you will like a completely different resort, but I tried to be as objective as possible.

Montenegro where is it better to have a rest by the sea? Which resorts to choose in Montenegro? You've probably already asked these questions. I must say right away that it all depends on several factors: what is your priority in vacation (active travel around the country or a beach vacation), like noisy places or want privacy, you need a budget vacation or are ready to pay more expensive, will you rent a car or will ride the buses, what time of year do you plan your vacation, etc.

Montenegro resorts by the sea. Conventionally, all resorts in Montenegro can be divided into several types:

  • resorts of the Budva Riviera
  • resorts of the Bar Riviera
  • resorts of Ulcinj Riviera
  • resorts of the Hercegnov Riviera
  • resorts of the Bay of Kotor

For the first acquaintance with Montenegro, I advise you to choose the Budva Riviera. If you are going to Montenegro out of season and beach holidays are not a priority - then Boka Kotorska Bay.

Ideally, I advise you to spend part of your vacation in the vicinity of Budva, and part of your vacation in the area of Boka Kotorska Bay.

Next, I will tell you in detail about all the resorts of Montenegro where it is better to relax, about the features, pros and cons of each, and you yourself will decide where to go in Montenegro. For clarity, here is a map of Montenegro in Russian with resorts. Montenegro on the map with resorts is as follows:

Budva Riviera

Which resorts to choose in Montenegro? Many will advise exactly the Budva region and for good reason.

The Budva Riviera stretches for about 35 km along the Adriatic coast and in addition to directly Budva this includes such popular resort towns, how: Becici, Rafailovichi, Kamenevo, Przno, Milocer, Sveti Stefan, Drobnichi, Rezhevichi and Petrovac.

For convenience, I have plotted all the resorts of the Budva Riviera on the map

This area of Montenegro perfectly combines beach and outdoor activities. Here, picturesque natural beauty is in harmony with the beauty of cultural and historical sites.

For me personally, the best resorts on the Budva Riviera are Becici and Petrovac, which I recommend. For me, this is an ideal option in terms of price / quality ratio. On the 3rd place I will put the resort of Sveti Stefan.

Well, now, briefly about the main resorts of the Budva Riviera.

Budva

Montenegro which city to choose for a vacation? Most will advise rest in Budva. Budva - although not the capital of Montenegro, but rightfully the main tourist town country. This is where most tourists flock. Distance from Tivat airport to Budva: 25 km, on the way about 30 minutes.

Pros of rest in Budva:

  • Developed infrastructure (transport, cafes, shops, markets, entertainment, nightlife).
  • Lots of inexpensive housing.
  • Good transport accessibility (there is a bus station, it is convenient to get to everything, it is convenient to see the sights of Montenegro).
  • Beautiful Old city.
  • The presence of several beaches: sandy and sandy-pebble.

Cons of rest in Budva:

  • Very crowded especially at rush tourist season, lovers of a quiet secluded holiday should choose another resort.
  • Not the most clean beaches, there are a lot of people on the beaches.

Who is suitable for: for young people, for lovers of outdoor activities, for budget tourists, for those who do not have a car.

Becici

A neighboring village with Budva, in fact, almost a suburb of Budva. The distance from the center of Budva to Becici is only about 3 km. It was here that I stayed during my vacation in Montenegro and never regretted it.

This is a great option for a relaxing beach holiday with children and for lovers of active travel around the country.

Where is Montenegro with children better? Definitely Becici is one of the TOP places where to go to Montenegro with a child.

Pros of staying in Becici:

  • Clean, wide, long and quite picturesque beach. The local beach is small pebbles mixed with sand, smooth entry into the sea.
  • It is calm and quiet in Becici, it will appeal to families with children, at the same time, you can easily walk to the noisy Budva with its developed tourist infrastructure and entertainment in just 20 minutes, or take a bus in 5 minutes, which runs every 10-15 minutes ( very comfortably).
  • There are some excellent front line hotels, even a hotel with a water park, and there is a wide range of apartments at an affordable price.
  • Good transport accessibility, easy access to Budva, Sveti Stefan and Petrovac.

Cons of staying in Becici:

  • There are no attractions (from the interesting things only a small church above the beach, a water park at the hotel).
  • There are much fewer cafes than in Budva.
  • In the evening Becici dies out, for fun you need to go to Budva.

Who is suitable for: for beach lovers, for rest with children, for those who like to combine active and beach holidays, for tourists without a car, for recreation at affordable prices.

Rafailovici

Rafailovici is the next resort village after Becici, about another 1-1.5 km from Becici if you walk along the sea. The distance from Budva to Rafailovichi is 4 km.

In reality, many cannot even distinguish Becici from Rafailovici, although there is still a slight difference. Rafailovici is smaller in size and in general IMHO loses to Becici in all respects.

Pros of rest in Rafailovici:

  • Proximity to Budva.
  • Good transport accessibility.
  • There is a playground on the beach (if I remember correctly)

Cons of rest in Rafailovici:

  • The beach strip is narrower than in Becici and the beach itself is smaller (although in fact Rafailovici and Becici are one large long beach, but the section of the beach in Rafailovici seemed worse to me).
  • The beach is more crowded than Becici.
  • The infrastructure is worse, there is not even a tour desk (there is one in Becici).
  • You can't walk to Budva every day, it's tiring.

Who is suitable for: for a beach holiday, for families with children, for tourists without a car

Kamenovo

It is located at a distance of about a little less than 1 km from Rafailovici by sea and about 5 km from Budva by road. An interesting tunnel along the sea leads to the Kamenovo beach from Rafailovici.

Pros of Kamenevo:

  • Quite a decent wide beach, not crowded even in high season.

Cons of Kamenevo

  • There is no special infrastructure, there is a cafe on the shore, sun loungers and umbrellas can be rented, but the place as a whole is rather wild.
  • There are no hotels, you have to stay in neighboring Przno or Rafailovici.

Who is suitable for: I advise here just for a beach holiday, if the beaches of the neighboring villages of Przno or Rafailovici are already overcrowded.

Przhno

A tiny village about 2.5 km from Rafailovchia if you walk along the sea and 6.5 km from Budva.

Pros of Przhno:

  • Located in a picturesque bay, lots of greenery.
  • Nice beach (small, sandy and pebble).
  • Peace and quiet.
  • Cozy streets and houses.
  • Nearby is the picturesque Milocer Park.
  • There are hiking trails for hikers (though you have to stomp uphill).
  • Good transport accessibility (you can get to Budva by bus)

Cons Przhno:

  • Poor infrastructure (no supermarkets, no decent shops).
  • Most of the already tiny beach belongs to an expensive hotel, if you don't live there, then during the season you can get to this beach only for money. The public part of the beach is very tiny, you have to go to the neighboring Kamenovo beach.
  • There is no entertainment, it may be suitable for a relaxing holiday, but lovers of activities will be bored.
  • Prices for vacation and accommodation are higher.
  • No children's entertainment and playgrounds

Who is it for: for those who like a quiet holiday, for those who are ready to pay for a vacation slightly above average, for those who are by car.

Milocer

Milocer is an exquisite and prestigious resort about 7.5 km from Budva and 1 km from neighboring Przno.

Milocer made a pleasant impression on me, the resort is very green and picturesque, there is a gorgeous park. However, vacation here will be expensive, and not everyone can afford it.

Pros of staying in Milocer

  • Very picturesque area, IMHO, one of the most picturesque in the entire Budva Riviera.
  • Beautiful beaches.
  • Luxurious park for walking, you can easily walk to neighboring Sveti Stefan along a picturesque path among the pine trees along the sea or climb to the Praskavitsa monastery.
  • Cozy, calm and quiet.
  • Transport accessibility.

Cons of staying in Milocer

  • There is no budget accommodation, the rest is very expensive.
  • Although there are 2 beaches in the area, they are not accessible to everyone. So, the entrance to the King's Beach is allowed only for guests of the Milocer hotel, at the entrance there is a barrier and a guard is on duty. The entrance to the second beach - Queen's Beach - is free, but renting a sun lounger and an umbrella is expensive, almost $ 100, and you can't lie on your own towel, as far as I understand.

Who is suitable for: for lovers of calm and sophisticated expensive rest... I advise you to just take a walk here, it will be costly to live here, and there is no need to.

Sveti Stefan (Sveti Stefan)

A picturesque resort village 8 km from Budva, and less than 1 km to Milocer on foot.

If you ask where it is better to go in Montenegro, many will call it Sveti Stefan. This is perhaps the most popular resort on the Budva Riviera. It is here that the famous island hotel is located - the visiting card of the whole Montenegro.

The resort's feature is a small island-hotel, to which a narrow path leads. The entrance to the island is allowed only to hotel guests, or to those who have booked a table here in the restaurant. Although the tourist infrastructure is well developed here, but most of the apartments are located high on the mountain, and you constantly have to climb the steps up and down. Accommodation prices are much higher.

Pros of staying in Sveti Stefan

  • One of the most picturesque resorts of the Budva Riviera.
  • Beautiful embankment.
  • It is here that the famous island hotel.
  • Nearby is the chic Milocer Park.
  • Well-groomed beaches (but IMHO the beach in Becici seemed to me better).
  • There is a tourist infrastructure (cafes, mini-markets).
  • Good transport accessibility (it is easy to get to Budva by bus).

Cons of staying in Sveti Stefan

  • The cost of living is more expensive, one of the most expensive housing prices in the entire Budva Riviera.
  • The resort is located on a hilly area, continuous stairs, descents and ascents (mothers with a stroller will not be very comfortable).
  • Fans of noisy parties will be bored.

Who is it for: ideal for a relaxing beach holiday, or for those who want to show off and live on a hotel island.

Drobnichi and Rezevici

Where to go to rest in Montenegro? If you don't want to go to popular resorts, you can choose a vacation in less popular places. Drobnichi and Rezhevichi are resort villages following Sveti Stefan, they are located about 5 km from St. Stephen and 14-15 km from Budva.

Especially these places are not popular with tourists, due to some peculiarities. The beaches are narrow and sandwiched between rocks. To get to the beach, you need to go down a rather steep slope. The distance between Drobnichi and Rezevici is about 1 km along the highway. The places here are picturesque, but specific.

Pros of rest:

  • The presence of several good beaches: there is sandy! Drobni piesak beach, it is very secluded, therefore it is not crowded, but the necessary infrastructure is there. There is also Peražica Do beach and Preseeke beach.
  • Near the monastery of Rezhevichi.
  • Rezevici has interesting old Italian architecture, beautiful white villas, cozy streets.
  • A secluded and relaxing holiday.

Cons of rest:

  • It is difficult to get to the beach, you have to go down a narrow and steep path.
  • No tourist infrastructure

Who is suitable for: for a secluded relaxing holiday without children, for those who are by car. For those who love to wander the rocks and swim in the wild beaches of rocky bays.

Petrovac

In which city to rest in Montenegro? I definitely recommend taking a closer look at Petrovac. I will put this resort in second place in the TOP of my favorite resorts on the Budva Riviera. This is a small but insanely cozy resort village for a calm and measured rest. Petrovac is located about 20 km from Budva and 11 km from Sveti Stefan.

Advantages of rest in Petrovac:

  • Picturesque nature, lots of greenery and where to walk, there is even a special health trail along the rocks overlooking the sea.
  • Several beaches for all tastes, noisy and calm, remote.
  • A beautiful fortress near the beach.
  • Good tourist infrastructure (cafes, shops, minimarkets).
  • Good transport accessibility (easy to get to Budva by bus).

Cons of rest in Petrovac:

  • Housing prices are more expensive than in Budva.
  • One of the most remote resorts of the Budva Riviera, if you are by car, then you do not really care, but if you do not have a car, then there will be laziness on the buses every day.
  • If you can still walk to St. Stephen from Budva along the walking path, then there is no way to walk to Petrovac, a serpentine road leads from St. Stephen to Petrovac.
  • It is not very convenient to park the car.
  • Little entertainment.

Who is suitable for: for lovers of a quiet beach holiday, with infrequent excursions, for lovers of walks and good infrastructure.

Bullyarica

Buljarica (Buljarica) is a tiny resort village following Petrovac. It is not very popular with tourists. Usually people just come to the Buljaritsa beach from Petrovac along a picturesque hiking trail. Moreover, the distance between these resorts is only 3 km.

Buljarica is famous for its wide, long beach, almost 2.5 km in length. The beach here is sandy and pebble, but I was not particularly impressed by it. Moreover, the depth begins here rather quickly, so I think it will not be very comfortable with the kids.

The beach has the necessary tourist infrastructure, by the way, the rent of sun loungers and sun loungers is one of the cheapest on the Budva Riviera.

Pros of staying in Buljarica

  • Inexpensive vacation.
  • Long beach.
  • Near the monastery of Gradishte.

Cons of rest in Buljaritsa

  • Far from Budva.
  • It is inconvenient to get there without a car (buses that most often run along the Budva Riviera go in the direction of Budva-Petrovac, but they no longer go to Buljarica)

Who is suitable for: for inexpensive vacation, for those who are by car.

Pros and cons of rest on the Budva Riviera

Well, I briefly described all the resorts of Montenegro where it is better to relax on the Budva Riviera. To summarize, we can highlight the main advantages and disadvantages of recreation in this region of Montenegro.

Pros of the Budva Riviera

1. Convenient transport infrastructure.

Local buses run along the entire coast of the Budva Riviera, so you can easily have time to see all the resort towns of the region during your vacation.

For example, on the Budva-Sveti Stefan route, small buses of the Olimpia Express company run every 10-15 minutes. There is also a separate route Budva-Petrovac by Mediteran Express buses, but they run less frequently, about once every two hours. Well, from the bus station in Budva, you can go anywhere.

2. Great beach holiday.

Here you can find both pebble and sandy beaches, there are also many beautiful coves and bays. For comparison, in the Bay of Kotor, tourists mainly swim from special concrete platforms. Agree, this is very inconvenient.

3. Possibility for hiking in the picturesque surroundings.

From Budva to Sveti Stefan you can easily reach on foot, between the resorts there is a tireless scenic hiking trail... First you will pass Becici and Rezevici, then through the pedestrian tunnel you will get to the Kamenovo beach, and from there to Przno. After the trail will lead through beautiful park Milocer to the Queen's beach, and from there up the nature trails to the central Sveti Stefan Beach. The whole round trip with stops for rest, photography and swimming will take almost the entire daylight hours, but you will see all the resorts of the Budva Riviera at once.

Cons of rest on the Budva Riviera

1. Crowdedness.

Still, it is very popular destination for recreation, and in the season there are a lot of tourists. Slightly fewer tourists are on the neighboring Barskaya Riviera.

2. Budva Riviera is a tourist place, and if you don't go anywhere from here, you won't get a complete picture of the true Montenegro.

Barskaya Riviera

Montenegro which resort is better? In general, the Barskaya Riviera is a less promoted place than the Budva Riviera, although it is also very picturesque, with beautiful nature, excellent ecology and pleasant beaches for every taste.

The tourist infrastructure is, of course, less developed here, and rest in general will be cheaper.

The resorts of the Bar Riviera include: Chan, Sutomore, Shushan, Bar and Dobra-Water

For convenience, I put them on the map:

By the way, Barskaya Riviera is one of the sunniest places in Montenegro, therefore holiday season here it starts already in May and lasts longer.

To relax on the Barskaya Riviera, I advise you to take a closer look at the resorts of Sutomore and Dobra Voda.

Chan

A tiny resort about 7 km from Sutomore and 10 km from Petrovac. It is rarely chosen for recreation, and in winter the resort dies out altogether. Tourists come here mainly for the sake of interesting beach, called Pearl. The small pebbles of this beach are said to look like pearls or beads.

There are hotels and guesthouses here, so if you want to stay longer there is an opportunity. There are no supermarkets, but there are small shops.

Sutomore

Where is it cheaper to vacation in Montenegro? A tiny resort 32 km from Budva, 14 km from Petrovac and 9 km from Bar. This is one of the cheapest resorts in Montenegro. There are almost no large hotels here, but there is a large selection of different guest houses.

Pros of rest in Sutomore:

  • Cheap vacation.
  • It is convenient to get there from Podgorica (the resort is located on the Belgrade-Bar railway line, which goes through Podgorica).
  • Sandy and pebble beaches, 3 km long. It is believed that the sand here has medicinal properties and helps in the fight against rheumatism. (but in season on central beach do not push through).

Cons of rest in Sutomore

  • At the peak of the tourist season, it is very crowded, locals come to rest.
  • There are no sights, you can see two fortresses on the outskirts of the city, so it's rather boring in the city itself.
  • There are practically no hotels, only private guest houses and apartments.

Who is suitable for: for lovers of a budget quiet holiday, for those who are by car.

Shushan

A tiny resort village between Sutomore and Bar. Many attribute it to the suburb of Bar, since the distance between them is only about 2 km.

There are no entertainments and attractions here, there are several cafes and small grocery stores.

It is believed that this is the warmest resort in the whole of Montenegro.

Where is it better to go to Montenegro with children? The village has a pebble beach approximately 2 km long. Perfect for children, because smooth entry into the sea and no depth.

Who is suitable for: for a quiet calm budget vacation without sorties on excursions.

Bar

The main resort of the Bar Riviera and concurrently the main seaport of Montenegro. From here, by sea, Italy is a stone's throw away, and about 40 km to Budva.

The bar can be conditionally divided into 2 parts: the New Town and the Old Town. The Old Town is the main attraction of Bar. In the modern part of the Bar, there is nothing interesting.

The bar is not quite a resort in our usual sense, there are of course hotels, beaches, and cafes, but nevertheless it is a city where locals themselves live all year round, so the Bar is not very tourism-oriented.

It is convenient to have a rest with children, because no need to climb up the stairs, the city is flat, without slopes.

Who is suitable for: for those who are in a car, and plans to actively move and not sit in one place, for a beach holiday not very much.

Pros and cons of staying on the Barskaya Riviera

In general, the Barskaya Riviera is suitable for those who are by car, as it will be possible to travel around the sights on their own. For backpackers, IMHO it will not be very comfortable here, far from Budva and the main attractions.

If you are going to Montenegro for the first time, I would still recommend choosing the resorts of the Budva Riviera. Well, the obvious factor in favor of the Barskaya Riviera is that the rest is cheaper here.

Ultsin Riviera

Ulcinj Riviera is the southernmost part of Montenegro, already almost on the border with Albania. This region is characterized by a very sunny weather, the sun shines here as much as 217 days a year, and therefore the holiday season lasts from April and ends in November.

Where is the best place to relax in Montenegro in June? If on most of the coastline June is only the very beginning of the tourist season, then on the Ultsinskaya Riviera the weather is already conducive to swimming.

Montenegro best resorts with sandy beaches? If you are looking for resorts in Montenegro with sandy beaches, the Ulcinj Riviera is ideal. The most famous sandy beach is Velika Plagea and the nudist beach of Ada Bojana island. The beaches here are famous for their basalt sand, which is considered to be very healing.

The resorts of the Ulcinj Riviera include: Utyekha, Ultsin and Ada-Boyana.

I will say this, among all such quiet tiny resort villages in Utyeha will be the most fun. The resort is considered one of the centers of nightlife in Montenegro, so young people often come here.

Families with children will also like it here; there are several play areas for children. And for the older generation it will be good here - the air in Joy is considered healing.

Who is suitable for: for young people, for those who like to combine a beach holiday with a party, for couples with children.

Ulcinj

This is the southernmost resort in Montenegro, very close to the border with Albania. From Budva to Ulcinj about 70 km. In general, Ulcinj is a city of contrasts, here Slavic motives are mixed with oriental ones. There are a lot of vacationers from Albania here. The main contingent is families with children and Europeans of venerable age.

The tourist infrastructure is well developed: there are hotels, shops, cafes, a tour desk. Of the sights - the old town of Ulcinj, relatively close to Lake Skadar.

Pros of rest in Ulcinj:

  • Proximity to Albania (you can see another country at the same time).
  • Wide long beaches, such as the 13 km long sandy Velika Plage with volcanic sand, there is also a beach for nudists.
  • Prices are lower than in Budva.

Cons of rest in Ulcinj:

  • Located far from everything, it is inconvenient to travel around the country from here.
  • Ulcinj is a Muslim city, so it leaves a certain imprint on the rest.
  • Boring for young people, there is no entertainment.
  • It is very hot here in summer (for me this is a minus)
  • For comfortable rest you need a car, you need to go to good beaches.

Who is suitable for: for a family lazy beach holiday, for families with children, for lovers of sandy beaches, for those who are in a car.

Ada-Boyana

Ada Boyana is an island in the very south of Montenegro, located at the mouth of the river, about 17 km from Ulcinj and 80 km from Budva. This place is primarily famous for its sandy beach. The thing is that the main nudist beach of Montenegro is located here. But it is absolutely not necessary to undress, you can sunbathe in a swimsuit, there are sections of beaches for ordinary people)

In Montenegro, resorts by the sea with a sandy beach are not so easy to find, but in Ada Bojana this will not be a problem. The local beach is about 3 km long with fine, pleasant gray sand, and a gentle entry into the sea, even with kids. By the way, this sand has healing properties, helps with rheumatism.

This place is also popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers. conditions are perfect, the "right" wind is blowing.

Who is suitable for: for nudists, for couples with children, for lovers of sandy beaches, for recreational purposes, for those who are in a car, for windsurfers.

Pros and cons of rest on the Ultsin Riviera

For the first acquaintance with Montenegro, I do not advise you to stop here for a vacation - to get far, it is inconvenient without a car, far from all the attractions.

The Ultsin Riviera is slightly different from all other resorts in Montenegro, apparently the proximity of Albania affects. You can go to see the city of contrasts for one day, but there is no need to spend the whole rest here.

The only exception is if you cannot imagine your vacation without wide sandy beaches, or if you are going to Albania later.

This concludes the first part of my review of the best resorts in Montenegro (the second part of the article about the resorts of the Boko-Kotor Bay).
