Majorca island (Spain) - reviews of tourists. Negative, neutral and positive feedback. When is the best time to go on vacation to Mallorca? Mallorca is it worth going

We returned from the island. We rested in Santa Ponsa. We have traveled more than 2000 km by car all over the island.

Either they were caught up in high expectations, or after previous Mediterranean trips, but the disappointment from the trip is great. Lots of people, enough mud on the beaches ... Somehow, everything was not impressed at all. Beaches of course come across normal, but in other beach Europe they were enough for us with interest.

In short, if very briefly, then so far. Later, at home, I will try to write a normal review.

Benefits: safe, excellent climate, beautiful nature, good transport infrastructure, clean sea, gorgeous sea

Disadvantages: arrogant waiters, European retirees, bored

"The island of German pensioners"

We flew to Mallorca in Honeymoon last year, therefore, I don’t remember the name of many attractions, I’ll write about what not to forget :) well sooo liked it!

What we liked: Beautiful, clean sea, well-groomed beaches, good roads, the village of Valldemossa and a safari park with animals in the north of the island, as well as interesting architecture in the capital city of Palma de Mallorca.

What I disliked: The island is overcrowded mainly with European pensioners (we flew in September, maybe they have a season of course), you especially notice this when you go to sit in a bar in the evening, and there are only gray heads and quite a lot of gays around, which is not for a Russian person usual, but absolutely parallel to them, just not usual! There are separate nudist beaches, but, for some reason, a 70-year-old man did not care much about sunbathing naked on a regular beach, like 20 others)) There are very few young people, therefore, if anyone wants to gape at naked boys or girls, then I will disappoint, naked there are exclusively retirees, and when you decide to go to the beach for coffee and have breakfast in the morning, your appetite spoils a little from what you see))) As for the views and attractions: There are practically no views, I have something to compare, with the same Montenegro, where beauty at every turn, I will leave a review later. In a week we drove the whole island, there were, of course, wonderful views, but there are too few of them, when you drive along the roads, you don't see any nature and almost all roads do not pass along the coast. The shops close very early, we took the apartments to cook mainly ourselves, because it is very expensive to eat in local restaurants and the menu in the form of pasta, pizza and paella did not inspire us to eat 3 times a day! I didn't really like the attitude of the waiters, they were somehow arrogant or something, if you order their signature paella, then everything is fine, if not, then the attitude immediately became so-so, but I will not speak for everyone, for example, the owner of the room was very hospitable. The rest seemed boring to us, although we always try to notice the good sides, but there really isn't much to look at, maybe it's just not my island.

If you just want a beach holiday, then still I will not advise you to go to Mallorca, well, only if you are over 60) I can advise the same Cyprus, the sea there is fabulous, the food is varied and there are many young people!

My feet will no longer be in Mallorca. An island, he is an island. Desert! Boredom !!! Author, if you still decide to go there, take a hotel closer to the city. So that in the evening there was where to go for a walk. There are plenty of beaches. But they are small for me, and I love space. So I don't want to go to the islands anymore. In hotels with 3 and 3+ stars, rooms are cleaned very poorly. Less than 4 stars should not be taken. One of the best spots in Mallorca is Alcudia.

I was in Mallorca - and it was my worst stay. Beach - full G, hotel G, food G. Of course, in the last two points we are to blame (my friends and I went, we wanted to settle down on a budget) ... but in general, the rest there somehow did not work out ... I did not like it ... I don’t know, I would not recommend going there with children.

We rested in El Arenal, the sea is dirty, shallow, the beach seems to be loose and the people are dark ... I liked (well, compared to the public one) the wild beach, the sea is clean, the views are beautiful, but the bottom is rocky and deep at the coast, so it is difficult and inconvenient to enter the water and then get out again

pros:

Minuses:

a lot of people Holidays in Mallorca did not live up to expectations.

Had a rest with my husband in this hotel in late July early August 2017, 12 days. Immediately I would like to draw your attention to the fact that we have been to Spain many times (Barcelona, Tenerife, Malaga, Madrid, Salou, Gerona, Terragona, etc.), rested in other countries of Europe, Asia, America, that is, we really have something to compare with, the review is not unfounded.

About the place .... it's a complete trash. People on the beaches - there is nowhere for an apple to fall, the water on the nearest beaches is dirty, it smells of sulfur. Sellers scurry around and loudly offer their goods (a la our Krasnodar region). You have to constantly monitor things from the sea, you can't take your phone and money to the beach. Everything is heap, the hotel on the hotel is like little boxes. There are a lot of drunken European youth with all the ensuing consequences: screams, noise, singing songs at night, brawl. The city at the location of the hotel is dirty, it smells of urine everywhere, dog lovers do not clean up after their pets. I do not recommend going to this place with children. We went by bus to Palma - better hotels are located in Arenal closer to Palma. But they are naturally more expensive.

Our vacation was saved by the rental of a car, which was ordered from Russia ...

In Mallorca, a car is much more profitable than excursions, and more convenient because you are on your own.

We had a parking problem only in the Arenal, but we found a parking lot on a dirt road near the hotel, and we left the car there. It is very difficult to find a place on the streets of the city. I was unpleasantly surprised by the rudeness of the drivers on the roads: they violate a lot, cut each other, for the first time we meet this in Europe.

The peculiarity of local people is that they want to breed everywhere: in stores, restaurants, so always clarify incomprehensible details. If you buy a product with a discount, check that you have this discount on the receipt. If you eat in a restaurant on a separate menu (such as a business lunch or set menu), make sure that you will be given a check not from the main menu.

Conclusion - Majorca is not worth its money, Tenerife is much more beautiful, and you can visit it cheaper. But if you still want to go to Mallorca, then choose hotels from 4 and higher, better in the Alcudia area. We regretted the chosen place, for this money it was possible to relax in other countries or on the mainland of Spain much more comfortably.

Neutral reviews

Mallorca is a great vacation spot, but in order not to spoil the impression you do not need to rest in El Arenal, the beach is dirty, the sea is shallow, there are no beauties .... Especially beware of the "hotel" offered to tourists from the CIS "Juan Palma" ugly hostel ....

I can say one thing - this time I arrived not so enthusiastic, of course, as the last one, but, nevertheless, there are wonderful places there. And not only great places for bathing, but also just for the soul. On this moment, for us, this is the best place to relax with a small child. I have not heard of any resort in Europe, for example, that there are SO many good, relatively clean, sandy beaches considering the small area of the island. You just need to know the places :)

And I have big claims to the beaches, for example. Because of this, at one time, I canceled Greece, Croatia, Italy, France and decided in favor of Mallorca, which I do not regret. Another thing is that the density of the population of the beaches is increasing every year, and this is not encouraging, of course.

But for this there is - not a high season))) I am scared to imagine where I will go when baby will go to school.

Advantages: excellent climate

Disadvantages: there are thieves, nothing interesting

Hello everyone who is planning a trip to Mallorca! I'll start right away with the fact that my review is probably not suitable for those who have not been especially anywhere. I have been to 13 countries, so I look at everything with my calm gaze. I can't say that I will admire just a beautiful view of beautiful bay with boats))).

Now about the main thing. Trip 18.08.2017 - 29.08.2017. The trip was planned in such a way as to see the whole island, booked rooms and hotels in 4 different parts of the island: Sa Pobla, Cala Ratjada, Campos, Palma de Mallorca. Every day was scheduled, of course, along the route. I studied all the sights of the island, made a detailed plan in order to have time to see everything. The trip was planned on a budget, for tickets and accommodation we spent only 49,000 rubles for two. On the tour. the company was not contacted. Rest for 10 days. We cooked ourselves, went to a restaurant three times, and spent about 50,000 rubles more on the island itself, including renting a car for the entire period, gasoline and food.

By sightseeing:

All museums - by. We weren't interested.

In general, the entire left side of the island is not interesting (if you look at the map).

Bays and ports are all the same, nothing interesting.

Cape Formentor + lighthouse - super !!! A must-see.

Beaches - almost all are not organized. We really liked the most big beach Alcudia. It's good and organized there.

Castles and monasteries are not interesting at all. Some ruins. Nothing to do there

Art's Cave or Dragon's Cave - I liked it very much !!! Pick one to visit, they are monotonous. We were in the Dragon's cave.

Manacor - pearl factory. We are not interested at all ...

Zoo - arrived, but did not go. Expensive and scarce. But .. we have good zoos in Moscow and St. Petersburg ... If you don’t, then maybe it will be interesting ...

Palma de Mallorca - very interesting! Be sure to visit !!!)))

There were almost everywhere, small towns, nothing special. If we were making a route now, we would not waste time on the left side of the island. We would start our vacation in Formentor and drive down the right coast to the capital of the island.

Attention! We were robbed. During the next move from place to place, they opened the car and robbed it. There is also a lot of theft on the beaches. Be careful. There are no cameras anywhere. Be sure to print all the necessary information on paper, make copies of passports and tickets in case of theft. Phones steal any)

Sim cards are not sold everywhere. Only in specialty shops Orange or in small shops with stickers on the doors, which is mobile connection and the internet. This is only in large cities. In small ones, no. Don't look.

The Spaniards hardly speak English, mind you.

On buses, they do not give change from banknotes exceeding 10 euros. We'll have to get off the bus. Transport runs until late.

There are no problems in the capital. Palma has everything, almost everyone speaks English)))

Advantages:

Good climate, eucalyptus groves, calm area.

Disadvantages:

shallow beaches, cool summer weather.

We rested in Mallorca with a friend in the summer. I honestly admit that at first I was attracted by the very name of the island, and of course, by its European-Mediterranean location. We didn't have a lot of money, I'll tell you right away, but we really wanted to spend unforgettable vacation, which is very successful. We chose a three-star hotel with two meals a day, and hit the road) 4 and a half hours and we were there. The first days, we did not plan anything and lived mainly on the beach, but soon we got tired of it, since the beaches there are somehow too shallow and blown through by the chilly breeze (and this is in the midst of July). Therefore, we scraped together money for sightseeing tour and had a lot of fun. It lasted almost all day. We were taken along the road "Tie knot" - This is a rather impressive serpentine, so that it really took our breath away a couple of times, we visited the monastery, then we swam in the bay and we were taken by sea on a comfortable boat to the port of "Soller". The excursion, I must say, we chose the cheapest and the only one for the entire vacation, but the memories of it will be much brighter than a simple swim in the sea. For those who like to relax on the beach, I will not advise Mallorca, it is not very convenient to splash knee-deep in a kilometer from the coast.

Positive reviews

you have to go to the north of Mallorca, there are fewer people there. I was pleased with the prices in supermarkets, they are close to ours, for some types of products it is also cheaper, the availability of seafood is affordable prices, and of course, gorgeous beaches with warm water) and what else do we need? this year we go there again, but it won't be cheap anymore (

Mallorca is a place that will suit absolutely everyone - both young people who come here from all over Europe to "hang out" in nightclubs and numerous discos, and married couples with children who will find here all the conditions for an excellent holiday. We belong exactly to the second category and, despite the fact that we stayed in Magaluf - this center of exuberant fun, which young Englishmen love so much, we had a wonderful rest there. Only helpful advice to everyone who comes here, stay somewhere on the outskirts, it is better to walk to the quarters of nightclubs. We did so, and we really liked Magaluf, where discos did not interfere with us, and the conditions for recreation were the gentle sea Balearic Islands, hot sun (be sure to take the creams!), an excellent comfortable beach - all this was present and left an unforgettable impression. In Magaluf itself, it is worth visiting the "Kathmandu Upside Down House", where there are many optical attractions, and which is so popular with children, as well as the "Pirates" show with a simply magnificent program and world-class first-class acrobats (it is expensive, but worth it!).

and, of course, you should not dwell only on Magaluf and great rest in it, and it is best to travel around this pearl of the Balearic archipelago - the island of Mallorca. We did just that, and we were in the medieval city of Alcudia with the majestic Church of Saint Jaume, and with the ruins of an old fortress (and what is the Albufera Natural Park with hundreds of birds - just superb!), And in the Natural Park of Galatzo, and in national reserve Cabrera. The nature of Mallorca deserves only excellent reviews! But a special impression on this island is made by him the capital is magnificent Palma de Mallorca with a fantastic, simply ancient Catholic Cathedral. It is the only cathedral in the world that faces the sea, and it is especially beautiful when you swim up to Palma. Our excursion included a yacht trip, so we were able to fully enjoy the view of the cathedral, which is stunningly beautiful from everywhere.

The interior of the cathedral is also very beautiful, and the benches for it were designed by Gaudi, we sat on them with great comfort and admired the interior decoration. And then we got on a horse next to the cathedral and rode in a carriage along the old Palma, it's just wonderful! The Picasso Museum in Palma is also noteworthy, as is the city's port. What yachts are moored there! Just a feast for the eyes!

Of course, February is not the most suitable month for a vacation in Mallorca. However, when in hometown frost, cold radiators in the apartment, and the tour operator offers a full package of services, including flight, transfer, accommodation in a four-star all-inclusive hotel for, in fact, a nominal fee, then it was simply not possible to refuse the trip.

We are very glad that we decided to take this opportunity and visit the pearl of the Balearic Islands - the island of Mallorca. Our hotel was located in the small town of Canpicafort, located on the coast Mediterranean Sea... Every day we walked along its beautiful embankment, admiring the landscape and breathing in the amazing purity of the air, filled with the aromas of the sea.

In the hotel pool, we could make daily swims, which were replaced by swimming in the sea. However, there were also people who fearlessly swam in the sea, which cannot be called warm. The water temperature was 12-14 degrees, that is, for the especially hardened and trained.

The undoubted advantage of our trip to the Balears in the middle of winter was the opportunity to carry out the maximum possible number of excursions. To do this, we rented a car and one day went to the town of Valldemosa, lost in the mountainous part of the island and gained worldwide fame thanks to the stay in one of its castles of the writer Georges Sand and the composer Frederic Chopin. It took us several days to explore the museums and sights in Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands.

All our fears that it will be boring and not interesting on seaside resort in winter, turned out to be unfounded. We had a great time, gained the strength and energy we needed so much.

Rested in Mallorca in September 2017. Considering that, in principle, we love and often visit Spain, I was delighted with the island. Compared to the mainland, it is cleaner, quieter and more peaceful. Stunning nature, many farms, respectively, have their own plantations of olives, figs, almonds, grapes. Such a quiet, rich rural area, but at the same time it has its own best medical clinics and universities, a museum of modern art, which houses the works of Salvador Dali and Picasso.

I was pleasantly surprised by the climate of the island, there is no strong humidity, a constant light breeze, there were in September, of course, but I think that it is quite comfortable to be here in summer too. There are a lot of attractions in tiny Mallorca, in order to have time to see everything, I recommend renting a car, by the way, it is not expensive, a car rental day starts at 38 euros per day plus gasoline (for a day of skiing it was enough for 20 euros)

From the excursion program, be sure to visit: the capital of Palma with an inspection of the Cathedral, Cape Formentor, which you often see on the Internet in pictures, but when you are on the observation deck, the sensations are completely different)

Further to the north is the pearl of the island, the romantic and beautiful town of Valldemossa, which also attracts attention by the fact that the famous writer Georges Sand and Frederic Chopin spent their winter here. You will be taken to the rooms where the couple lived, where their personal belongings are kept, and you will be invited to a concert to listen to Chopin's works.

And of course, the gorgeous beaches of Mallorca with pink and white sand! From what I've seen I recommend the beaches of Magaluf, Cape Formentor, Santa Ponsa, Mondrago.

In general, in short, Mallorca is mountains, steps, nature, history, friendly people, delicious food, stunning beaches and the sea ...

Mallorca is a stunning island. Having been here once, I want to definitely come back! No photograph will convey to you the beauty that you see with your own eyes.

Mallorca is small, but very different, it is not only the sea and the beach, although the sea here is undeniably magnificent. These are mountains, bays, small towns and villages. Here at every step you come across such landscapes, from which it is impossible to tear yourself away.

Be sure to rent a car and travel around the island, there are a lot of attractions.

Santa Ponsa. We were in Mallorca at the end of May - beginning of June. I must say right away that we flew almost the first charter there. There were very few Russians (only the first plane), then compatriots began to appear. The water was cool (not yet warmed up), but you can run in and out. Were in the santa ponsa region. Sunset at sea sand-beach sand. No stones. Green parrots all around. And ..... an Irish quarter with 100 kg for young ladies. My husband constantly asked - went to the Irish in the evening, we will look at the girls. The British were not violent from the family, quiet. No crazy parties. We were on excursions to the places of Chopin and to Soler on an old train. We took regular buses to Palma de Mallorca. What saved us was that there was not yet such heat as in summer and that it was possible to wander everywhere for a long time. We flew back on a half empty plane, maybe people only flew there, no one was going back yet.

Our family-owned Mallorca

I first read about Mallorca from a female blogger. On her Instagram page, she talked about her travels and how she plans to fly to Mallorca the other day. To say that I was interested is to say nothing. I was fired up with thoughts of the beautiful Mallorca and firmly decided for myself that in September we will fly with children! We packed our suitcases, took swimwear, warm clothes (I’ve read that the weather can be quite capricious and therefore decided to prepare in full) and a good mood, of course.

And you know what makes you fall in love at first sight and never lets go again? This is great architecture. Friends, this is such an enchanting atmosphere that I do not have enough words or emotions to describe it all - you can feel such power, history in every street and in every cathedral.

I've heard about shopping in Mallorca, many friends brought quality things, but I can't say anything concrete about this. I really wanted to buy something too, but the children wanted to swim more :) Friends, I do not regret at all about our quiet, family vacation in Mallorca, this is some kind of magic - we will certainly come back here! At least for the sake of shopping;)

Advantages:

Inexpensive vacation, heavenly place, good transport links and infrastructure

Disadvantages:

Not found. The stay was wonderful

Mallorca is a wonderful island with its own culture, tradition, Arab influence, Spanish influence, Italians and many other nationalities.

Firstly, there is excellent transport links, I got to the center of the island and to the outskirts without any problems, I ended up in remote villages where goats are raised and goat cheese and milk are made.

Secondly, a well-developed infrastructure, a huge number of shops, gyms, etc.

Thirdly, very, very friendly people, always ready to invite you, tell something about the island, suggest how and where to get. And also, 90% of the population speaks good English even in non-tourist places, which is not very typical for Spain as a whole.

Mallorca is one of the largest islands that make up Spain, located in the Balearic archipelago in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. I believe that this is truly a heavenly place where you can enjoy picturesque landscapes, clean beaches and forget about all everyday problems.

This small island, whose area is only 3.5 thousand square kilometers, is slightly different from the resorts we are used to in Spain, and all because in its entire long history it managed to be at the disposal of the Phoenicians, Romans, and of course, the Arabs. Therefore, the culture here is really very rich!

My acquaintance with this wonderful island began with its capital - Palma de Mallorca. It is here that all its main attractions are concentrated.

As soon as I left the airport, I was struck by the long palm tree lane that led the arriving tourists to the parking lot. The palm trees there are truly stately, the size of three-story houses! You look and cannot believe your eyes that only 4 hours ago you were in a gray rainy city, and now you are already among such beauty!

And when you drive directly into the capital itself, your eyes start to run up. You look to the left - a sea of turquoise color, you look to the right - the majestic cathedral, and right in front of you - high mountains.

Here you want to take pictures of absolutely everything, so I advise you to free up memory on your phone, tablet and camera in advance, because you will constantly have a desire to capture this or that place!

How to get there

You can get to Mallorca by two types of transport: air and water.

By far the most commonly used and comfortable option is the airy one. In the capital of the island, Palma, there is an international airport, from where liners of various European airlines depart every half an hour and where they also often land.

As for water communication, Palma has the main port of the island, where ships from various parts of Spain arrive daily, which is very convenient for tourists who spend most of their time on the mainland, for example, in Barcelona or Valencia, and on weekends go on an excursion to Palm tree.

You can get around the island by bus, car or train.

By plane

The main and only airport of the island, which bears the name Son san joan , located 8 kilometers from the capital, Palma de Mallorca. It is here that both external and internal flights arrive. The airport has very good connections with various European countries, including Russia.

Flights from Moscow

Direct flights from Moscow (Domodedovo airport) fly to Mallorca: S7 airlines, the average cost of a round-trip ticket is 20 thousand rubles. In addition, you can fly to the island by flights with one or more transfers, which are carried out by the Spanish airline Iberia also from Domodedovo airport for the same price (about 20 thousand rubles). It is worth noting that there are several other European airlines that carry transfers to Palma, for example:

  • Finnair;
  • Lufthansa;
  • Swiss;
  • Czech Airlines;

But then the flight time will be more than 20 hours, which is completely inconvenient and not worth the money. Therefore, I advise you to choose a direct flight!

In this case, the travel time will be only 4.5 hours, so I recommend not to save on tickets and not spend the whole day on endless transfers.

You can compare prices yourself, for example.

How to get from the airport to the city

You can get from the airport to the city center either by bus or by taxi.

By far the more economical option is the bus. Routes 1 and 17 run here constantly, which will take you to Palma for only 3 €. If you need to resort town Arenal, then bus number 21 departs from here directly to its center.

But a taxi will cost much more - the average cost of a trip is 20 €, and if you are traveling in a group, you can order a minivan for 40 €.

In addition, you can rent a car directly at the airport, there is a wide range of car rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Europcar). The average rental price starts from 50 € per day. Details below.

By ferry

So, the second way to get to Mallorca is to sail from another part of Spain by ferry or high-speed catamaran. The latter are sent daily to the island directly from:

  • Barcelona (4.5 hours drive),
  • Valencia (4-6 hours drive),
  • Menorca (2.5 hours drive),
  • Ibiza (3 hours drive)

The average ticket price is 40 € and depends on the characteristics of the vessel.

How to get from the port to the center

The port of Palma de Mallorca is located 6 kilometers from the city center, if you wish and good physical fitness, you can walk to the center from there along the promenade, enjoying beautiful views and a light breeze, or take bus number 1 for only 1.5 €.

The bus stop is next to the port. Of course, you can catch a taxi and drive to the Cathedral (the trip will cost 10 €).

When is the season. When is the best time to go

According to local residents, the island of Mallorca reveals itself to tourists in all its glory at the end of spring and continues to delight the eye until mid-autumn. This is the best time to relax!

As for winter, the Spaniards believe that at this time of the year their life becomes very calm, quiet and even a little boring. Although the weather is favorable in winter (about +14 ° C), there is absolutely nothing to do. Because even on the beach you won't lie down, you won't swim, and you won't enjoy seasonal fruits and vegetables. Therefore, go to Mallorca in low season(that is, from November to March) is not worth it. The only tourists on the island at this time there are employees of companies who arrange business meetings, trainings or business trips here.

Mallorca in summer

Like all resorts, Mallorca is especially beautiful in summer. It is at this time of the year that the temperature of the air and water reaches its maximum mark and all the most beautiful flowers and shrubs of the island bloom everywhere. By the way, it was in Mallorca that I noticed a very a large number of those very flowering evergreens, and this cannot but please the eye!

Of course, summer (especially July) is also a vacation time, so there are a lot of tourists here, in fact, as elsewhere. But since Mallorca is still an island and it is not cheap to rest on it, wealthy Europeans and most often those over 35 or young families with children like to come here. It is believed that recreation in Mallorca is quite calm and the pace of life is measured, so all young people who prefer nightclubs to evening boat trips go to the neighboring island of Ibiza. But at the same time, it cannot be said that Mallorca is a remote place suitable only for retirees: here you can also have fun and have an active rest. But the most important treasure of the island is incredible beauty nature! Such landscapes as here, you will not see anywhere else!

By the way, the climate here is very pleasant, in summer the air temperature reaches around +30 ° C, and in winter - +15 ° C. Unfortunately, there is nothing to do in Mallorca in winter. Locals say they have a lull at this time of year. In fact, the island is inhabited by about a million people, so at a time when all tourists go home, the island becomes empty and almost deserted. Residents calmly go about their daily affairs, and nothing special happens here. Therefore, I do not advise you to go here in winter, although if you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, then here you can definitely be alone with yourself and nature. It is not for nothing that it is here that the residence of the Spanish royal family is located! And also such celebrities as Claudia Schiffer, Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow bought villas in Mallorca. Since Mallorca caters to the demanding taste of the stars of the first magnitude, then you will surely like it too!

Mallorca in autumn

The beginning of autumn in Mallorca is considered a velvet season, so until the end of September you can have time to enjoy the bright sun and warm sea... But since October, the sun sets at 7 pm, and it becomes noticeably colder, the temperature reaches + 7-8 ° C.

Even in the period from late October to early November, rain and thunderstorms become more frequent on the island. Therefore, it is no longer worth to rest in Mallorca at this time.

Mallorca in spring

Spring in Mallorca gradually begins the high season, already in March - April the air temperature reaches + 20-23 ° C, the warm pleasant sun is shining, and flowers begin to bloom. At this time, you still cannot swim, but you can already take sun baths.

In spring, the island is good because there are still few tourists here, and you can spend a quiet, relaxing vacation.

Mallorca in winter

Winter in Mallorca is a time of complete peace and tranquility. The sun shines here quite often, and snow falls only in the mountains, it rarely reaches the lowlands. December is considered a rainy month, but January and February are characterized by pleasant, comfortable weather. The average daytime temperature reaches + 14-15 ° C.

The only caveat is that it is very boring here in winter, and this is a favorite time of the year for retirees.

Mallorca - monthly weather

Conditional areas. Descriptions and features

The island of Mallorca is divided into 7 main areas:

  • metropolitan,
  • central,
  • northwestern,
  • southern,
  • southwestern,
  • southeastern,
  • northeastern.

Metropolitan area

Located closer to the southwestern part of the island, it is here that the main attractions and the residence of the royal family are located. If you want to be in the center of all events, then it is worth settling here.

The city itself is quite noisy, crowds of tourists walk, it is very hot and stuffy during the day, so I recommend renting an apartment or staying in a hotel located a few kilometers from Palma. I lived in the vicinity of Cala Major Beach, a typical Spanish resort suburb with many hotels, cafes, shops, a large public beach and several museums. In general, an ideal place for those who like a measured, but not too boring vacation. Housing here will be more expensive than in other areas, since it is the capital, that is, the most important area of the island.

Southwest region

This area of the island is the most densely populated. Here are located such large cities as Illetas, Portals, Santa Ponsa, Paguera. It is best to come here with family and children, because in these places you can relax and enjoy the tranquility.

It is also here that the large golf club Bendinat is located, so the area is considered very prestigious and by no means cheap.

Northwest region

Along the coast, in the shade of trees, there are townhouses and villas, which, if desired, can be rented for the summer, and here you can also observe beautiful mountain landscapes. Isn't it a heavenly place?

Northern region

This area is famous for its unforgettable views and pristine beaches. It is here that the highest point of the island is located - Cape Formentor, from which a magnificent view of the sea opens. Accommodation in this place will be quite expensive due to extraordinary beauty nature and thanks to the proximity to "star" villas.

The major cities of the area are Alcudia and Poyensa. Near Poyensa is the port from where you can sail around the island by yacht.

North-east of the island

It is distinguished by its beauty and serenity. Having settled here, you will forget about all the problems and bustle of the city.

The area is full of traditional farmhouses and farms, as well as mingling with friendly locals, and perhaps they will invite you to taste their garden-grown oranges or homemade ham (cured pork).

Southeast

It is in fact very similar to the northeast, agriculture and sailing are also common here, so if you want to get to know better local life and taste fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood, as well as immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the island, get acquainted with its cultural and historical component, then this is a great option!

Southern part of the island

But it is famous for its long beaches, sports bars and noisy discos. The largest resort town is Arenal. It is here that the largest water park on the island is located, an amazing aquarium with sharks and rays, and many more bars. The place is considered budgetary enough for recreation, so all young people live in this part, respectively, the prices for accommodation here do not bite compared to costs in other areas.

If you like a bright, cheerful holiday, then you are here. And a little to the south is the longest beach of the island - Es Trenc. It is distinguished by its white sand and light blue sea.

central part

These are picturesque estates, almond orchards, pastures and olive fields. Another great place to relax in peace, while being only half an hour from Palma.

Here is located Big City Inca, which is famous throughout the world for the production of quality leather goods, as well as the city of Sineu, which is definitely worth a visit to see the magnificent churches and the former Royal Palace and visit the largest fair on the island on Wednesdays.

I usually look for hotels on Booking - and you can check if there is a more attractive price.

The offers for renting private apartments can be found here.

What are the prices for rest

As I mentioned earlier, holidays on the island of Mallorca can be classified as luxury, and therefore here you will find hundreds of villas and apartments for rent, the price of which starts from 1.5 thousand € for 10 days.

In principle, if you compare this price with hotels, the difference will be insignificant. For the same 10 days in a 3-star hotel in any area of the island, you will pay an average of about 1.7 thousand €, and in a 5-star hotel - about 4 €.

Considering that in your apartments you will cook yourself, and in hotels use the all-inclusive service, then the costs will be approximately the same.

Therefore, it is up to you to decide which is more convenient, but personally I lived in a good 3-star hotel, where, in addition to all-inclusive meals, there is a free gym, bar, pool and of course themed parties!

TOP 5 best hotels on the island

I want to introduce you to my TOP-5 best hotels islands:

  • Globales Simar 4 * (from 1.7 thousand € for 10 days for two).

Expenses

So, if you decide to stay at a hotel, then there will be no problems with food, and if you decide to rent an apartment or a villa, then you have the option of shopping in supermarkets, of which there are quite a few on the island. One of the most popular, often catching my eye, is Eroski. This is a Spanish supermarket chain where you can buy everything from bread to hand cream at average Spanish prices.

If you buy groceries for a week, the average bill will be about 60 €. You can also visit restaurants and cafes, which will be quite expensive, given that the average bill will be 50-60 €.

You can go on excursions both independently and with a guide. Mallorca is a small island, from Palma to Alcudia can be reached in just an hour and a half, that is, it will not be difficult to travel the entire island far and wide in one day.

You can rent a car for 50-70 € per day and go to explore the island yourself, or you can travel by bus for just 6 €. A guided group tour on your own rented bus will cost you about € 100. A taxi ride around the island will cost around € 80–90.

Major attractions. What to see

Majorca is renowned for its variety of attractions and incredibly beautiful must-see sites.

If you like to learn all the smallest details and Interesting Facts about certain sights, you can hire a guide or order a full excursion. And if you like to walk independently beautiful places and discover something new for yourself, you can examine everything yourself.

It is worth choosing a day for the excursion in advance, it is advisable to single out one of the weekdays (except Friday), since on weekends the locals begin to have siesta and rest, and there are too many people on the streets who will prevent you from seeing everything properly. In Mallorca, bad weather is extremely rare, so you should not be afraid of rain and cold weather, but you can still look at the forecast before walking, just in case.

The island's capital, Palma, is not very large, so you can walk around the city and see the main attractions.

The map below shows the main tourist spots, museums, galleries, bus stops and more.

I bring to your attention my version of one day in the capital of the island of Palma, I advise you to get around on the Citysightseeing tourist bus (ticket price 18.5 €):

  • 10:00 - we go to Bellver Castle, which is located a couple of kilometers from the city. Here we will spend about 2 hours.
  • 12:00 - we are heading to the Spanish village.
  • 13:30 - stop for lunch at Sadrassana Restaurant Cocteleria (Placa Drassana, 15).
  • 15:00 - we go to the cathedral. Since this place is considered the main attraction of the city, we will spend about 2 hours here.
  • 17:00 - go to the main tourist streets of Palma and walk, go to the Rivareno ice cream parlor (Plaza Llotja, 1) and enjoy the most delicious cold dessert of the island.
  • 20:00 - Have a seafood dinner at La Parada del Mar restaurant (Avenida Joan Miro 244 Marivent) and celebrate the end of a great day with a glass of sangria.

Mallorca is the ideal destination for beach holiday, it is on this island that there are dozens of the most best beaches Spain, but what about Spain, the whole world! In fact, no matter what beach you come to, it will definitely be quiet, cozy and clean. Even not far from Palma in resort areas, where thousands of tourists rest, they are very worthy! But the most best places in order to soak up the sun and enjoy swimming in the clear sea water - secluded coves, of which there are many in Mallorca.

As I wrote above, I was vacationing in the Cala Major area, a few kilometers from the capital, and one day, quite by accident, I wandered into a cove where there was a small beach, and the sea there was crystal clear! There were not very many vacationers there, mostly locals and tourists like me, who, most likely, also accidentally found this piece of paradise.

And yet, I will give a list of the best of the best beaches in Mallorca that are worth visiting if only to understand what heaven on earth is.

Nearby islands

If you are vacationing in Mallorca, then I advise you to choose a day or a whole weekend and devote it to a trip to Ibiza.

Balearia ferries leave from the main port of Palma to the port of Ibiza several times a day. The duration of the trip is approximately 3-4 hours, average price the ticket ranges from 50 to 70 euros per person. There are also Transmediterranea ferries from Mallorca to Ibiza, but it should be noted that they only run on Sundays in summer.

Details and schedule can be found on the official website of the company.

In Ibiza, you can walk around the capital of the island of the same name and look at its protective walls, which were erected here in the Middle Ages. The Punic Necropolis is also worth a visit, as well as the picturesque Cala d'Hort.

Food. What to try

At first, you might think that there are no traditional dishes in Mallorca, and that everyone is eating there the usual Spanish gazpacho, tapas and tortilla. But how surprised I was when I found out that this small island has its own national dishes that cannot be tasted on the mainland of the country.

Majorina soup

It is a broth with vegetables and pork and is served with sliced bread.

The soup is incredibly tasty and very satisfying, which is why the locals love it so much.

Tumbet

It contains vegetables such as potatoes, eggplant and onions.

And also meat or fish is added to them to taste.

Sobrasada

Be sure to try it - this is a moderately spicy sausage made from minced pork and bacon, very reminiscent of the chorizo, popular in Spain, because the cooking technology is very similar.

Ensaimada

And for dessert, don't forget to enjoy this delicious Mallorcan puff pastry. It is rightfully considered the most favorite sweet of the locals.

Ensaimada dough is airy, melting in the mouth, the pie itself is filled with whipped cream or delicate syrup, and sprinkled with icing sugar on top.

Beverages

Popular local drinks include Herbas secas (dry) and Herbas dulces (sweet). They are infused with anise with the addition of various aromatic herbs.

A very popular aperitif on the island is the Palo drink, made by mixing sweet caramel with the bitter bark of the cinchona tree.

Carnival of Sant Rua

A special celebration in Mallorca is the Sa Rua Carnival. Here it is held in winter, in the first half of February.

Dressed people in costumes take to the streets of the capital and arrange a procession. The carnival is held before the start of the Catholic fast.

Mallorca day

This holiday is celebrated on September 12, it was adopted by King Jaime II back in 1276, when the island of Mallorca was liberated from Muslims.

On this day, concerts and fairs are organized on the island.

Security. What to watch out for

The island of Mallorca seemed to me a very calm and safe place. Of course, pickpocketing, which is widespread in Europe, should not be ruled out, but in general, walking in the evening in Palma and its environs is not at all scary, because in summer life is in full swing here until late at night.

In large stores and supermarkets you will definitely not be deceived, and in small souvenir shops you can, just in case, count your purchase amount and the change received, although it is generally not common here to openly profit from tourists.

Therefore, in Mallorca, you should not beware of something serious, but still the main simple rules safety should be respected.

Things to do

Mallorca has tons of entertainment, you can explore all the beaches of the island and go snorkeling, or you can dive into it cultural life and visit the most important museums, temples and other historical sites of the island.

You can also go to Cape Formentor, admire the wonderful landscapes and arrange a photo session there. Or travel to the eastern part of the island to meet local farm owners and taste their traditional food. Do not forget about shopping, you should definitely go to the center of leather goods - the city of Inca. There are a lot of options, choose what you like and enjoy your vacation!

Majorca - holidays with children

A vacation in Mallorca with children is a great idea, because here you can really enjoy the peace and quiet, and children will be impressed by the picturesque landscapes and encounters with wild animals that you can find in Natura Park, on an ostrich farm or in nature reserves... To travel with a child, you should pay attention to the southwestern, northern or eastern part of the island - in such places there are few noisy young people and parties, so here you can really relax and gain strength.

Mallorca is called a holiday island and they even say that the weather in paradise is exactly the same as on this Spanish island. For the sake of what tourists go there and what the summer season 2016 is preparing, read our material, prepared jointly with specialists in the direction from the Voyagetour company.

WHAT IS IT WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU TRAVEL?

Mallorca is the largest Spanish island in the Balearic archipelago. It has a mild and warm climate, top-level infrastructure, striking mountain ranges, lots of greenery and a friendly atmosphere, regardless of the resort you are staying at. Majorca is one of the most hospitable islands on the planet. There are many tourists in Mallorca from Great Britain, Germany and other European countries.

Majorca is renowned for its high level of service and an abundance of historical sites. The towns are mostly ancient, with their own interesting story and very comfortable. Almost every city in Mallorca is a resort.

The northwest coast is rocky cliffs and narrow coves. The southwest coast consists of white sand beaches and cozy coves. Accordingly, the beaches in the west are mostly rocky, and in the east they are sandy.

In Mallorca, as in other EU countries, the euro is in use.

Majorca's climate is typically Mediterranean - the sea regulates the temperature, thanks to which it remains quite comfortable, in contrast to the continental part of Spain, located at the same latitude. In summer, the temperature rises to + 30 ° С, the probability of rain is extremely low. The water warms up to + 24 ° С. The climate on the island is mild and suitable for everyone, so there is no need to worry about acclimatization at all. They say the weather in paradise is the same as in Mallorca. Many beaches in Majorca regularly receive the Blue Flag for the purity of the sand and the quality of the water.
